Hello all. As if trying to balance wasn't already tricky enough, try doing it with a 6 year old "helping".

  2. Hello Guys, I've just started trialling after spending a few years racing cars and I've got a big hang up telling me that I'll never be able to trial. I haven't ridden a trial bike before and it seems totally different to a road bike or Motorcross bike. I feel like I need to control the power with my clutch for one. Can anyone tell me where you went wrong and how did you get it right? Cheers Dean

  3. Hey guys, Here's my first post.... I was thinking about getting back into trials but I would like to find a bike that can ride around at 50km/h (or 80) as well. I don't know if this exists, or if it is physically possible. My 280 pro was perfect on trails and trials, but I couldn't ride top gear for more than a minute. I know the bikes aren't meant for that, but can any of the bikes do that? How about the Scorpa Long ride? I don't really want a seat but I'll deal with it if I have to! Thanks for any ideas you guys have. Jay

When watching people who can get over rocks, double blipping they make it look so slow and their body doing the work and not so much the power of the bike.also how theres a split second they leave the front wheel on the rock it looks like it aids them to keep the front wheel up when ontop of the rock. For me it all happens so fast but Ive been practicing today and the way im doing it i blip once to get front wheel on rock then touch back break to slow the bike after you raised the wheel then go again with another blip and push up with my body. I feel more controlled and it doesnt seem everything is happening to fast. Is this the correct way using a slight bit of rear brak…

  6. I have included two links below of short videos that I enjoyed. Both are from Japan. The first is a little competition in doing a 'stoppie' in front of a very appreciative crowd. The second video is what happens when you put a trials rider who can do a stoppie into another of type of vehicle and... well you can imagine the rest. Don't try this at home! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok-N3UkGlh8 www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_HDOe_xP00

I'm having an issue getting enough power to get up some bigger obstacles. I can lift the wheel to the obstacle but then struggle to twist the throttle enough to get a big burst to launch up. Lifting the wheel 3 feet or so causes the bike to rotate up which requires the wrist to rotate down just to maintain the same throttle opening. I think that is what makes it hard to get that second bigger burst. Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to "over grip" the throttle prior to big obstacles to allow some more twist? The bike is a Sherco 2.9 so does have adequate power. I have retarded the timing and run the slow throttle because the softer response helps in every o…

Hello TC people, I have a problem....I am learning to stoppie and move the back end around on my bike. Sometimes I can get the rear to lift effortlessly and sometimes not at all, what I'm saying is I don't know what I am supposed to be doing!!?? I am one of these types who has to get the theory/visualization straight in my mind first, otherwise I am just throwing myself at it pointlessly. I once went on a course that included visualization techniques ,I stood up and told the lecturer that it was all B.S. and it didn't work,he replied 'It does...you do masterbate?..don't you? ....I sat down. Back to the bike..how do I 'see it'...sink the back end??collapse my knees?? C…

Hi there, I have been riding trials for quite a while now 13 years in fact and have become quite good. But I am struggling with big vertical steps. My technique is to Wheely the front into the rock just below the top compressing my back suspension then trowing my weight forward throwing the bike up the step. This method only works if there is a kicker though. Would someone beable to tell me how to jump the back wheel up in to the rock first like the pros do making it easier to do bigger steps without a kicker??? Cheers lads and lasses

Well i got out and gave it a go today. I still have some setup issues like the bars feel too low and the suspension bottoms too easily and feels too slow in the rebound.. Might need different springs. Anyway i went up behind my house and tried a few double blips. Laughing because it seemed like i was going so slow and looking at the video i think i was still going too fast. The second one was the best i think. I set the front tire on top of the rock even though i was aiming for the face. The on top technique feels more natural so i might concentrate on that for a while before i go back to bashing the face. Despite what ive read all over the place, i still wasnt ready for …

Hey all Had the opportunity to ride a 4rt for a few events this Christmas which meant I stood up all the time. I normally ride a TY250, which allows me sit down, between sections and relax. Very quickly I started suffering from really bad lower back pain. I suffer from this time to time while riding my YZF250 during hare and hounds. I know fitting bar risers would help but is there any exercises I can do to build up my lower back? I also want to build up general riding fitness but I can only get out on my bike about once a month. Any one know of any exercises to keep myself fit when I am not racing. Thanks in advance Scott

Hi all I attended a Graham Jarvis training day on sat at Tong Yorkshire. Both the venue and the training were Great. Graham is real nice guy, very good at giving good clear instruction to both begineers like me and the more experianced riders. I would highly recommend to all. I asked if he would run a day at whitworth, Back cowm Quarry. He agreed in principle as long as the demand was there. I need 10 people to attend @

Hopefully Billy Craig is still reading this this forum. In a recent fall I suffered a complete full thickness tear of the supraspinatus with retraction on my left shoulder (this is one of the rotator cuff tendons), there is also some damage on the infraspinatus. I will be having an operation to re-attach the tendon. Has anyone experienced this sort of injury and if so what sort of recovery have they made with regard to riding eg what % of previous strength was recovered, and how long did it take to recover, are there any protective braces that exist for the shoulder that are worth wearing when riding? Any advice/help would be appreciated. The quack tells me I shouldn’…

Hellloo, I am currently training my stoppy and wheelie (or wheel hop) teqniques, and especially moving the back wheel goes better and better. I am struggeling however to combine both teqniques. As an example riding down a log, making the backwheel go to the right 90 degrees and landing, and than I want to place the front wheel a little more in the turn to ride a wall of the small concrete pipes. This is where it goes wrong. The location is a bit sandy, so doing the turn without wheel moving teqnique is very difficult. When I land the back wheel, I want to lift the front wheel, but it starts sliding away (because its not totally flat). I think this is because I fir…

Since we are riding for HOURS, isn't way more reps than the standard 6-15 repetitons per set (until "fail" - you can't do anymore right then...use enough weight) advisable? Apparently 4-6 reps per set is the best for developing SHORT bursts of great strength, but less endurance? Apparently around 8-12 reps is best for developing large-LOOKING muscles, but not strength/endurance as much. I'm not a body-builder, as such, so I don't want to choose 10 reps? Bruno Cammozi is the only top rider I've ever seen who was "huge"...all the other guys are not huge...so they train for strength and not size? If so, how many reps? I've heard that lots and lots of reps before fail (sa…

Like most young riders, My skills lie in flying up big rocks, hopping about and taking on stuff that generally requires more gonads than skill. However Fun this might be, I really need to improve on the basic stuff like finding grip. Does anyone have any tips (no matter how basic) for making the bike grip better in slippery conditions? All the best Tom

  20. I believe that Jeremy Magrath (7 time Supercross champion) eats lots of protein, when he can. I've seen Marc Colomer (3 world titles, counting indoors) being fed pasta in a section, by his minder. I believe pro body builders (not sure how relevant their program is to trials success, though) eat protein, protein and one more thing (...oh yea, now I remember: protein!) :-) One poster here said a good BALANCE (good word for trials anyway) between carbs and proteins helped him. I'm about a 40/36/24 ratio of carbs/proteins/oils in my diet. Your suggestions? What's the diet of a pro rider?
