Hi, after finally finishing the rebuild and starting it up I've a problem with the clutch. At first I thought that the plates were stuck together but it's the action that's the problem. I pull in the lever and it stays there until I manually pull it back. It's a new cable, so I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas gratefully welcomed. Also the carb seems to be in need of adjustment. There only seems to be one screw that I can see, it's on the l/h side of the carb but I thought that it was the idle adjustment. The bike starts fine but if I stop it and try to re start it won't unless I remove the plug and clean it. Help!!!

Hello good people. I bought my self a cheep defective Ossa. It is in a rather good shape, only inner head gasket is blown. After cranking it pops like a champagne when opening a radiator cap. Coolant that I have drained smells on gassoline. As I can see 4 side bolts will be the problem to torque with my Nm torque wrench because of a frame interference . Should I use some special tool , or release engine in front and pivot it a bit to make some clearance? One more thing. I read that inner oring is better to be silicone than NBR one, any oppinion on that? Many thanks !

Hi everyone, as promised i'm sharing the entire 2012 Explorer 280i project to provide as much information as possible to those who need it. Here is the bike before complete disassembly: The bike starts (with difficulty) has good compression (forgot to test it before opening the engine), the gears are ok (neutral doesn't go in easily), the engine's electrical system works but nothing of the Explorer's additional system works; A 12V battery with flying wires that activates the pump and ECU has been added by someone previously. The engine runs very very rich and makes a lot of smoke (the locomotive from Back to the Future III makes less smoke) …

Other than the tank and seat, what is the difference between an Explorer and an MAR please (I'm thinking '75/76 here)? I fancy having a go at long distance trials and don't want to mess with my current MAR so am looking for another bike, but Explorers are rare, so it may be easier to modify an MAR if it's just bolt on parts, then I can always undo it to keep the purists (me!) happy. I've been toying with a new machine but nothing inspires me - CCM SR-40 - expensive, fragile(?), Beta Alp 4.0 - heavy, little ground clearance, Kawasaki KLX250 - a bit lightweight? I don't want an enduro style machine so have ruled out everything else, hence thinking back to an Ossa... Mike

Only had my bike a week but I'm wanting to drop the gear oil and was wondering what is the amount of gear oil in the TR280i and is it ok to use ATFQ or is there a recommended oil? Bike is 2011. Cheers

My Ossa 280i has always had a problem with overheating and uses normally 250ml of water every time I fill the petrol tank. Up the hill trails it would boil dry if I wasn't carrying 2-3 litres of water in my rucksack and replenishing about every 15 minutes. In the SSDT it boiled out on long road sections and blew a cylinder head and melted the pump impellers etc. rebuilt by the factory and it still boils even after they flushed and refilled the cooling system. Yes, the radiator is clean and I even blew it out with an air hose and pressure washed all the dust out.. The fan works well on the thermostat, comes on as I reach the end of the field about 200m from my house, fan…

Since there doesn't seem to be anymore rear mudguards or side panels anywhere around right now- I'm fabricating a once pice setup from aluminum. I've never done this sort of thing in aluminum (I have in fibreglass)- so,it is sort of a learning process. I made up a template, then cut the three pieces from aluminum sheet. Now I'm welding the side panels to the mudguard. They both use the two side screws by the end of the seat, and overlap. Might not be the best looking (at least this first try)- but I'm hoping will work well. My mudguard broke and I have it pieced together (plus a new spare, but don't want to waste it) The bike is just so darn fun- I sure hope th…

Just trying to learn a little history on my bike(1970 Ossa Plonker).Did Mick ride the stock bike or close to it in his first few six days (1967,68,69) with Ossa? It was pretty cool to see pics of Dave Thorpe on one in CTM and to read that he did pretty good on it.

I see this in my user manual is this something I can plug into the existing harness on my 2013 OSSA Factory? Anyone know if the sending unit is already in the fuel tank or not? There is no way to know how much fuel is left (only gripe with the bike so far) and it might be nice to have an indicator of sorts. Anyone know for sure?

I've just re assembled the front wheel and put it back on my bike. Is it me or does everything seem a pain to do on this bike!! I ended up having to slacken off both fork clamps and move the stanchions upwards just to align the brake plate, admittedly I haven't yet fitted the rear wheel. Then I struggled to fit the spacer and speedo drive, there didn't seem enough room. I've given up for today, maybe a couple of pints and some sleep will help!!

Im doing up a '74 Ossa 250 MAR and ordered a the replacement alloy tank for it. When the tank arrived it looked great but its too narrow by 10 mm at the front where it goes over over the rubber mounts. I can modify the dowls and rubber mounts on the frame with a grinder and shoehorn the tank on but would much prefer get the correct tank.. Any advice???? Jim
