Hi, I just wondered if anyone has seperate insurance for their bike while in transport, i.e on a rack or trailer. I'm pretty sure that my car insurance won't cover it and at the moment I've not been too worried as my bike is only worth sub £1000 but I'm thinking about purchasing something a bit newer and more expensive and would like it covered? can anyone recommend insurers for off road bikes please, particularly for pre-65 trials bikes, if it makes any difference they are all road reg.

Whilst i have other bikes insured with e-bike and they list the Beta in their bike list, for some reason they won't insure my Beta? Just wondering whether anyone else has managed to insure a Beta with them? Ta

Hi So the problem I have is insuring my bike at a different address to where I am living. The address is my ex-partners. Doodson would only insure mine if his was insured at the same time but now I am registering it they are unwilling to do that. Why are insurers unwilling to insure my bike at a different address? Will this change when it is registered? I don't understand why I can't insure my bike, on my own, without his being done too - insurers don't make sense!! If anyone can enlighten me I would be very greatful!

Had my SXF250 insured with Carole Nash - called today to swap bike to a Beta Evo 300 I just bought and told they don't insure that type of bike. Anyone recommend a company who does? Cheers

Going to be getting an MOT for my '61 Tiger Cub. Is a stand required for the MOT? I've checked through the MOT manual and can't see anything that says a stand is a) a part that requires testing, or b ) is required to perform the wheel checks as this can be done through a visual inspection.

Will a 2-3 years old Sherco likely already be in the NOVA database?

After reading about another spate of Trials bike thefts, how many people actually insure their bikes? Well the old girl has been a bit neglected for a while so it's time to give her a bit of attention. I'm gearing up to get the Sherco road worthy. Don't worry, no "what do I need for an MOT?" questions coming up. All I am trying to find out is with the new road fund licence rules, do you still need to display a tax disc on a motorbike? I understand why there is no need for a car due to numberplate recognition via the fancy cameras, just wondered if the same applies to motorbikes? Ta very much, Chris.

Hi New to the forum. Just bought a 1974 montesa cota 247. I have no docs, but have tracked down a previous owner who has supplied me with a copy of the original log book. Clearly states number and engine and fame numbers. DVLA say they have no records for the number and are reluctant to let me have it. I gave sent them the copy of the reg document, but they want a club to say that the numbers match. As far as I can find there is no uk Montesa owners club. Any ideas what I should do. Thanks

I want to ride my 1983 Sherpa T on the road. its never ever been registered so I will have to get a V5. I only want to use it during daylight hours. Hi all I am new to trials riding and i am probably asking a silly question what has been answered hundreds of time before but, i have just bought a 2007 beta 250 road registered so i can drive from my home 2 miles up the road to some local trials area's. I thought if my bike was insured,taxed,and a daytime mot this would be fine. I also have been told that trials tyres are not road legal and i could be issued with 6 points and a further 3 for the wrong sized number plate. I am slightly confused to how you can be issued a mot with none legal road tyres or a correct size number plate, and also dont fancy getting points. Hi, Can anyone tell me what I need to be able to (briefly) ride my new Montesa 4RT on the road. It is in the process of being road registered (7 weeks and still no sign of a V5!!!) When I last done this a long ago you needed a fork leg speedo, rear reflector and bulb horn. There will be occasions where it would be convenient to be able to ride it rather than push it.

Anyone having much joy with insuring a 300RR? Seem almost impossible to find a company that lists the bigger 288cc motor, the 250 and 260 can be insured no problem. Unfortunately Msm insurance don’t cover my area.

Who do people use to insure there RR with as every company I’ve tried says the bike isn’t listed, the only model that is listed is the standard 260, thanks

So its coming up on time to Insure My bikes an after the Montesa 4Ride was a no go with C Nash last summer when I got it [not on there model list I got p****d off needed it sorting fast] I then went with MSM just thinking I would do battle with them next time with the multi policy for My TTr 250/ Harley panHead 1200/ and Honda xr 250 was due as to adding the 4Ride. Has anyone Managed to get anywhere with C Nash on this model.............. they only had a 250cc RT listed not even a 260cc............ when I called last year seems bad as its a Honda really and the 4rides been out as a model for 2 years now I know some Insurance people are not doing Trials bikes anymore but …

i am trying to register my bike with the insurance company but they dont have a montesa 4rt on records, they have a montesa 315r ?? ive tryed using the RTL 250 but they dont recognise this !! does any body have a 4rt registered and what is it classed as on the V5 log book please.....

Just picked up a 1976 Cota 250. It has the lighting kit and V5 and is currently on SORN. Its all original and needs a going over and general tidy up. Is there a recommended insurance company for these bikes please ? I am 58 years young and would prefer this on a separate policy to my other bikes. Thanks in advance.

In May of this year any vehicle over the age of 40 will no longer require tax or MOT. So how will this change the process of registration for older machines? At the moment for a 1977 Bultaco Sherpa for instance, your require MOT to start the process, will this change?
