Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

hi all have just got myself a new 300 factory and am having a devils own job getting it insured as 99% of companys don't recognize the bike as its not on their system have tried MSM but as I had a claim last year the don't want to know can anyone suggest any others out there that can help

Has anyone had trouble getting insurance for an 2010 Evo. Ebike my normal insurer will not quote and Carole Nash only have a 250 Rev 3 on the pull down menu. I have tried the bikeinsurer but all still refer to a rev 3? Any guidance would be appreciated as I need to get a cover note to register and tax the new beaut before pickup on Saturday.

I've got a trials bike that someone has Q plated.....being too lazy / tight to get a dating letter from a manufacturer before registering with the DVLA. I've tried to add it my my Carole Nash multi bike policy but they won't insure it for theft....only TP use. Has anyone got a Q plate bike that can recommend an insurer for TPFT so I don't have to spend my entire life in a telephonic abyss ringing round insurers. Thanks

Hi guys, quick query. as the title says really. Have any of you guys insured your Oset, and if so, who with? (UK only). The bikes are currently covered on my contents policy but with the insurance company not actually knowing what an Oset is or how to categorise it, they're not filling me with confidence should i need to claim. Have the rules on SORN changed? I normally re-sorn my bike every October but now the DVLA website keeps telling me that the bike is currently sorn? (the last time I Declared it was oct 2013)

i am trying to register my bike with the insurance company but they dont have a montesa 4rt on records, they have a montesa 315r ?? ive tryed using the RTL 250 but they dont recognise this !! does any body have a 4rt registered and what is it classed as on the V5 log book please.....

So its coming up on time to Insure My bikes an after the Montesa 4Ride was a no go with C Nash last summer when I got it [not on there model list I got p****d off needed it sorting fast] I then went with MSM just thinking I would do battle with them next time with the multi policy for My TTr 250/ Harley panHead 1200/ and Honda xr 250 was due as to adding the 4Ride. Has anyone Managed to get anywhere with C Nash on this model.............. they only had a 250cc RT listed not even a 260cc............ when I called last year seems bad as its a Honda really and the 4rides been out as a model for 2 years now I know some Insurance people are not doing Trials bikes anymore but …

hi all, i am hoping to get my 4rt on the road. its a 2012 model so im guessing no need for a mot however what do i actually need on it to be legal? lights speedo etc etc. also is it legal to ride on the road stood up? thanks

I have just purchased a 2012 Jotagas which I'm trying to get road registered. I believe I will need to have an MOT, tax and insurance to do this. The original importer has been brilliant in supplying their documentation. I also have a 1965 Triumph Tiger Cub Trials which I got classic bike insurance for (£50 fully comp). However I don't think they insure modern bikes. Can anyone recommend an insurance company that would insure either the Jotagas separately or preferably both Trials bikes on a multi bike policy I am more interested in theft as road use will be very occasional at best! Any advice would be appreciated. Bruce.

I have reached the stage of giving up my Kawasaki ZXR in favour of something smaller and lighter, and as i owned a Montesa Cota 247, and ran it on the road (about forty years ago ! ) i thought that this would be the way to go. Hi Having ridden trials a few years ago, then moving into mx/Enduro, I am now looking at another trials bike for practicing and entering some events. I want it to be road reg'd and able to ride down the lane to a practice area near me as well as for events that require it. I have found a nice looking example of a 250 sherco, but the owner says it doesn't come with a V5. Initially alarm bells rang- but having looked through the forum posts, it looks like I can still register the bike etc. question is, is this worth the extra hassle without a V5- would you buy a bike without this document? Got a 71 M80 Bultaco Sherpa project on the go. If I want to register it with an age related page I'm thinking I'm best to do it before restoration so that it is clearly original. As it's over 40 years old it should be tax and MOT exempt but can you register the bike without these or do you still need them for first registration? Cheers.
