Montesa

Bought the tool off In Motion came with no instructions but it seems straight forward enough (I think),I see conflicting info on here regarding setting ,my Spanish manual says 2.7mm BTDC is that when the points are fully open or do you set with points just open @ 1.8mm???. Bike starts ok or do I leave it??? not sure, can't have the timing wrong and kicking back as my leg is finally recovering after the last big incident . Thanks in advance.

Can any one please confirm to me the amount of oil in the 2015 Tech front folks as in the manual it states 400ml but this seems excessive to what came out and the manual doesn't quote Tech folks .Thanks

Suppose I've been lucky really as my 2014 4rt has only just required its fork seals replacing. I have changed the oil before but just drained and refilled with the "required" amount less a tad for the oil that could not be drained. So whilst stripping the full leg down to replace the seals and cleaning each part before replacing I thought I would rebuild the correct way by using the measurement of the oil level rather than the amount. Left "Spring" leg fine 410ml which = 100mm, Right leg to my surprise took 30ml less than the recommended 400ml to achieve 50mm depth. So what should I go with, the level or the amount ?

I'm having some agro getting my laptop to communicate with the PTB and wondered if any of you very kind technically gifted (is that enough flattery) citizens can point this idiot in the right direction. Keep getting the error message "ECU CANN'T BE SHIFTED TO DATA TRANSMITTION MODE" when trying to read or write data. The set up is 2 map throttle body with 2 map software. Laptop with a female RS232C serial port (is this unusual) as the wiring harness also has a female connection, It aint gona fit. So bought a USB to serial adaptor (

hello, first of all forgive my english, i'm using a translator I own a montesa 300rr 2018 and I have a problem with it., he bike is very low from the front, the static sag is very large even with the spring fully preloaded. Looking at the user manual, the spacer bushing in the drawing is much larger than the one on my bike, at first glance about 4x more, but since it does not give measurements, I cannot verify it. Does anyone know the size of this cap? I also have a vertigo with a similar fork, but this spacer does not match, so I would like to know the measurement of a 300rr like mine. at all times I am referring to the spacer bushing, marked with the…

Sure it’s been asked before... Whats people’s views on the full termi versus mitani system... I’m edging towards mitani as I’ve been told it’s lighter and it has the cover which can be replaced if damaged whereas the termi doesn't. Cheers!

Anyone running their 4RT, with the new shape Termignoni silencer? If so, what are your impressions and is it worth getting? I currently have a Mitani Titanium front pipe and while servicing my bike, I got the chance to weight the rear silencer, pretty heavy, at around 1.8 kg. So I'm considering changing it to something else. I know the Termignonii is very expensive, but I see it can be bought at a discount, so if anybody has it, your impression would be welcome. Also if it's not too inconvenient, could you weight it! Cheers

Hi I'm trying to find out how to test the secondary winding of the ignition coil. The manual helpfully just says to test it. I've tried a multimeter set for resistance, with the red lead on to the HT lead end, (cap off)and the black to earth and got no reading. but when I tried this on a new coil I still got no reading, so assuming somethings not right. Continuity on the HT line seems fine. Any ideas? Basic problem is no spark. Cheers

And so begins a new chapter. Doug moving to Beta is a huge loss to the Montesa HRC Team, who just won't be the same without him. However we all move on and I am throughly pleased that Doug is continuing to ride at the highest level of the sport. A true ambassador for the sport and a true champion. Let hope the change in factories might just result in the 100th round win and a 8th WTC title. As a Montesa rider I thank Doug for his achievements at Montesa and wish him all the best with Beta. Viva Dougie Lampkin! PS. We've still got Dibs and Wiggy so alls not lost.

  16. My mates Cota 315 98 model keeps stalling when we are out. The bike starts ok and runs for say 15 minutes. Then for some reason stalls and will not start again. It will start if we leave it for say 1 hour but as you can imagine this is very annoying! So he has had the stator cap off and found that the gasket had perished and a bit of crap was around the stator. He has now cleaned this up and resealed. We are going to give it another go at the weekend but I recon a new stator may be in order. What does everyone think? Has anyone had a similar problem? We will obviously give it a go first but I know electric probs can be a pig!

Hi guys, one for you tech experts. I have the twin map PTB on my 300rr and wanted to play around with some maps, the software I have is the HRC RTL 260F, does anyone know if this is correct for the job and if not, which one is right and where to get it? Cheers! P.S all you old farts with your links to ordnance survey map sites and "just learn to ride" I've heard it all before!

  18. My 4rt -05 is a first kick starter 90% of the time, other times i have to kick it twice.. never any more. Recently the bike have stalled in sections, figured that it was the low (1100rpm) idle or my inabillity to ride the bike that made it stall.. Set the idle to approx 1300rpm and problem solved... This weekend i finished a section, let the bike sit for 10min, and when we were moving to the next section it started first kick as usual, but halfway i heard a backfire, had a look over my sholder to see whos bike it was but couldent figure out where it had come from, approached a small hill and suddendly the bike lost power and wouldent rev, stopped and the id…
