  1. my letter to Mr fothergill is in the post tonight, i have also written to my MP, via the house of commons web site, to let him know why i have lent my support to this cause and to advise him there will be an increase in illegal riding if this venue closes. i live 20 miles away approx and in a different county but if MPs from lots of areas get to hear about the closure they might ask questions of the council. long shot i know but whats to lose
  2. does anyone know of any clubs in the yorkshire area that run twinshock classes at thier trials? i would like to be able to put together a full "season" of events if possible, any advice appreciated. paul.
  3. you can re-use the old head gasket , use a very thin smear of good quality "instant gasket" too much will block the water passages in the gasket. really the best practice is to use a new head gasket, the base gasket if in good condition will always "go again". get the spanners out and good luck!
  4. if the engine pings or knocks on the overun after you have shut off, i would recommend a de-coke, i do my bike twice a year at least. remove the head, barrel and piston, scrape the carbon off with a razor blade and the finish off using a scouring pad and brake cleaner. also remove the rings and clean out the ring grooves. works ever time on my bike. hope this helps.
  5. my mums got a dyson, that really SUCKS !
  6. so, which one did you get?
  7. the 200 , in my opinion would be best. a really nice bike and will do all that a club trial can throw at it and wont get the pilot into trouble.
  8. trust me , spoke to them on saturday last week, no need to road reg.
  9. carol nash are the people to talk to, you can insure any competition motorcycle as long as it has a chassis number and an engine number. the more security on the bike the better. i already had an approved lock and ground anchor and my quote was under a hundred quid! peace of mind
  10. bet he thought it was in euros!.....................

    Cracked Airbox!

remove the airbox from the bike and take it to a large reputable motor body repair shop, if its a good one they will be able to idetify the kind of plastic it is and weld it up no problem as the repair plastic bumpers all the time.
  13. .your starting to cost me money , reeds and now these!
  14. thanks, i think i have it on the map half way between wensley and west witton, will see you in the mornin !
  15. does anyone know what classes this club runs at this trial? and or, is it ok for a beginner to ride?
  16. shoei, dont be put off by the apparent lack of vents, they stay cool in summer and are great quality. check ebay for some deals. i got mine new for
  17. right that's it then, i will purchase a set on "t'internet"..........all i need now is a good helping of talent.
  18. let me know how they are, as i can feel a purchase coming on.
  19. neonsurge is bang on with his comments. i also switched back to trials from enduros and i also had a ktm300. i bought a 270 beta and tested it before i parted with the money, but i rode it like i would an enduro bike, it felt great. but half a dozen trials later i realised i had made a mistake, i bought a 250, slow throttle, left the flywheel weight on and hey presto, my riding and results were instantly better. i then had the chance to spend some time on a 200 sherco, easier again. i will say that i am over 40 and slightly larger than your average trials pilot and found the 200 capable of doing all the things i could ask of it. the trick is to find the balance of power to ability. then just put fuel in whatever and ride the thing !
  20. where did you get them and how much? how old ,and how much use has your bike had, i only ask as i have had similar performance increases by just replacing the reeds with standard ones but on bikes that were a few years old, and a bit tired. but if these give a good feel on quite a new bike i gotta have some !
  21. i have had both and the 250 is the better clubman bike by far.
  22. back bleed it , use a syringe with a small tight fitting bit of rubber pipe on the end. fill the syringe with brake fluid, push the pipe onto the bleed nipple , and after taking the cap off the master cylinder and placing something under it to catch the displaced fluid, gently push the fluid through, you will have to experiment withn how much to open the bleed nipple but 3/4 of a turn is usually enough. repeat until the fluid in the master cylinder is clean. hope this helps.

    De Carbon

remove the head, piston and barrel, so you can get right into all the ports and clean out the ring groove . start by scraping with a plastic tool, anything really as long as it does'nt mark the metal. finish off with brake cleaner and a scouring pad (the ones you get from the supermarket are fine, and cheap!), remember to wear rubber gloves ! the result will be ............PING!
  24. remove carb and fully strip, all jets out ect. using compressed air blow all jets through. pay particular atention to the small holes in the belmouth. clean air filter. new spark plug. 99 time out of a hundred that the problem, mind you theres always the hundreth time to consider!!!!
  25. DEEP HEAT AND STICKING PLASTERS
