Can’t see your point, why would you want to use anything other than the correct oil? If you had loads of filter oil would you use that for a car oil changes,, or do you use any old oil… As your a mechanic I would think the answer is quite obvious

The selector only moves the gears into the correct position, the dogs drive the adjacent gear when the square edge has gone (tapered) the power pushes the dogs out Once they start to jump out, the wear rate is exponential

The first one is tempting, but I reckon the nettles may cause a problem?
