  1. r2w is right, use araldite. Lots of peoples tanks crack at the bottom of the left side! as you say, could be due to rubbing. r2w has suggested all the right stuff I always now apply lots of airfilter oil to the bottom of the filter also stuf a sponge at the back of the airbox so water gets soaked up. It is alot better applying lots of air filter oil, dont care what anyone says!, with riding in lots of streams, i had problems with grit etc getting into the carb and it caused throttle sticking. after using more oil, it cured that. mainy to the bottom half. and make sure the bottom of the airbox has a hole (does it have some rubber thing on the 03's. I seem to remember taking it off mine which helped.
  2. That applies to all the GasGas Pro's! Best thing to do is dimantle the airbox and re-silicon it back up because the way the factory do it is pretty crap! Also, use duct tape on the back of the airbox. Should be alot better after re-siliconing it tho

    Sherco 3.2

Knowing Montesa, that wont happen that quick! From experience of owning the 2 stroke, what changes did they do in the 315's 7 years??? Not too much!! - Forks, brakes, rear shock.... It would be interesting to try a 4RT with the 280 big bore conversion from MITANI MOTORSPORTS, but it costs 2.5k! Or the Ti front pipe which has larger expansion chamber. could be interesting....
  4. Fair do's to Sherco, they've given it a really good crack at producing the 4 stroke motor. Honda have soooo much more experience at producing these engines and Sherco have really taken a chance with this bike and despite the odd problem, they've done damn well!! I admire that. they'll get the problems corrected soon. Lots of expert riders may also prefer the bigger bore motor, coz the Sherco has got some grunt!!!
  5. The trials would not have to be so big, difficult and dangerous if it was completly 'no-stop'. the rules change too much! Like Ishy said, you can set challenging sections without going up 20ft steps, where you can really hurt yourself
  6. Have you had any problems/worries with overheating Webmonkey? Because they aint gonna develop a bike thats going to over-heat Someone explain to more junior riders what you mean by 'Pop and Die'!? Is it the bikes getting hot and fuel starvation or something
  7. That silencer is deffinatly a refreshing change! nice weight saving idea!
  8. They've always been the same, you need to tighten everything up after every ride! And lots of loctite!! Lost the plot with mine now. threaded one of the clutch casing bolts into the crankcase, whilst tightening it up with me fingers . Quality is poor! You have to keep everything tight, but their soooo easy to over tighten threads, theres an art to it the gear levers themselves are crap! they bend just looking at them, lucky if one lasts me a month. Oh well, apart from that, There good! By the way, love the tittle you gave this topic - very Gas Gas!
  9. Hawkstone 98, anyone remember Dougie's last lap when it started raining? He dropped 4 and colomer had the second best lap score of 35! He has been so far ahead of everyone else over the years - unbeleivably consistant, determined. No doubt about it, he has been unlucky this year with injury and having to develop that bike against the proven factory bikes from GasGas, Sherco etc. must be difficult. It would be interesting though if all the riders were on thumpers. Honda have been brave, by the time the other manufactures bring their bikes out, the monts will be years ahead. In a few years, we will be surprised at what the 4 stroke can do. They're the way to go! Yes, Tarres did win 7 world tittles, but not consistantly!
  10. Thats very nice, like the way they've gone blue with the back mudguard. Looks light too So, are they carrying on with the 2 stroke or is that all over now??
  11. Haven were recently selling back wheels for
  12. Yeah they sell them at gasgasuk. cant remember exactly how much they were though - The right side of a tenner also ith this spacer you need a couple of gaskets otherwise you will get air leeks. Speak to Andy Hipwell at gas gas, he is extremly helpful and will tell you everything you need to know. good luck!
  13. Buy one off GasgasUK because it come correctly jetted from the factory with a 122 main 45 Pilot & jjh needle. Recommend though that you upgrade to a 48 pilot as it is too weak at the bottom end with standard 45!! You are lucky owning an '03 that your Inlet is larger than the '04 and the keihin fits properly unlike with the 04/05 where it is too small and rips. You need a different throttle cable for the carb Also you need a reed space to bring the whole reed block and inlet closer to the carb as the Keihin is smaller. To do the conversion properly will probably cost you approaching

    2006 Gas Gas

Hardly any different to the 05. perhaps theres some mechanical differences ie New thermostat ... Just looked at it again and its got an ohlins shock!!!
  17. That seems a very good idea running the Keihin carb judging from whats been written in these forums regrding the standard Dellorto. Update us Howard Wallace!! The bike seems to have had the odd problem (like any new bike ) but for '06, they should be sorted and dealers seem to be very helpful going on what owners have said. Good write up Ishy
  18. Reckon Raga & Cabestany either days with a very high possibility of Dougie. The championship is anyones this year, really good!!
  19. I'm Minding for someone! so yeah, will be there. Colley demos should be good
  20. what bike have you got colly?
  21. Andy, can you do most designs if we come up with them or do you have a range of designs, also do you do Gas Gas frame stickers if different colours (anything apart from the standard black and white!)?
  22. Thats a difficult question! Personally, i thought your 4T was the same as the 2T shercos. It would have to be yours for the slippy conditions because they grip so well, its ridiculous. Hav'nt tried one on the rocks yet. was'nt impressed with the mont! was impressed with the sherco. hopefully the Gas Gas 4T (if/When) will be good. if its near the sherco, it will be easy to adapt to and will be a great bike!
  23. Yeah the Ducati has a different flywheel extracter to the Kokuson
  24. Hey webmonkey hows it goin i rode his sherco 4T yesterday and the extra weight is hardly noticeable compared to the 2T!! smashing bike, the engine breaking is scary! but you'd soon get used to that. more grunt than the mont.
