I was hoping somebody would start a topic on this cant believe we haven't discussed it before ......... yawn.
-
I saw this via facebook. The club have run the event before without issue and had worked with the police for this years event so certainly were not expecting this approach. I then watched the news about the police forces merging in Scotland and wonder if the change in approach is related? Would it kill us to have quick release legal number plate ? At present we rely on police goodwill for any trial in the uk with roadwork.

glad you have another bike Guy.
Keihins are much more sensitive than dellortos. Id start by lowering needle clip. how far out is mixture screw ?
-
back on topic 4rt is best current bike on the road.
-
my two best bikes on the road were a 303 fantic in 88 and the tyz in 98/99.
In 88 Glen Scholey was near me on an rtl. As a much better rider he left me for dead on the moors. on the road the rtl did about 40, i was doing 70 at least ! nothing passed me, the bike was geared up so every section was first but it flew.
the tyz on standard gearing was rapid, you could hold it flat out with the choke on. We left fersit and were late and my mate says i think we'll lose time. He had a 270 GG, i put the choke on and was crossing the road on foot in the town when he arrived !
-
that was like Ham2 the early years.......
-
shop in salisbury is likely Bob Gollner.
i had the last tau engined jcm and rode in the 87 ssdt. it was similar to the vega but obviously diff motor.
same air filter shock was corte cosso i think with a linkage which looked like a yam but not as good. Mine also had same forks as a txr aprilia.
-
No Rob Sartin rode the SR model during 1990.
The vega was the predecessor.Scarlett rode it in 87 and early 88 before going back to yamaha at the ssdt.
The europa etc were brought in during 89 & 90 by Bob Gollner, they were actually called Striet JCM as some other person had invested in them.
-
in terms of wtc i agree not much will change in terms of positions. However when cabestany rode the ssdt i thought he would win no problem. He was no where near. This just proved that the ssdt is a different challenge as a few months later at the nevis range he was back where you would expect i think.
-
to be fair its the same brand of ignition now on Gas Gas Beta and Sherco. So dont decide on the basis of electrical problems. Had 2011 and 2012 shercos and not had any electrical problems.
-
No Mick the Vega wasnt imported by Quinns
I'm sure thats what the one Tony Scarlett had was called but that was 1987 so I may be wrong, its happened before....
If I'm right it had the same motor as the early air cooled Gas Gas, linkage suspension, tank under the seat etc. The Gollner Striet JCMs were similar.
Entirely different to the beautiful creation you had the pleasure of purchasing
-
I agree with Andy, the SSDT is not important to Honda
How many SSDTs did Dougie ride for Montesa
even now Fuji can't win the WTC but he still doesnt do Scotland, if Honda wanted they could send Fuji to win it but its not on their agenda.
-
Fancy Dougie having to dab on a flat table, what will Mart say ???
few years now since he was called Scooter.....
-
was the vega the one Scarlett rode ?
didnt think any bar his own were imported or this one of the gollner ones ?
-
spoke to a farmer on friday who was wearing a jacket only half zipped, an open neck shirt and no gloves or hat. i was wearing thermals under berghaus, with a softshell jacket gloves buff and hat. i said are you not cold ? No why do you ask...
-
Tonis biggest problem would be boredom i fear. i think he could probably do every section and moor on the back wheel !
-
Ben just check the coolant has dropped before you get the tools out. you havent said if you used the same oil previously so may just be the two oils mixing.
-
i think the owners manual actually recommends 10/40 ?
-
my gas gas is currently running on castrol gtx 5w30. Now done 6 rides including four trials and no problem. oh and its
-
Sorry to report this event is now cancelled.
article will be on front page shortly
-
Does look nice but why do the factories not provide the same spec for the 250 versions, they all seem to put less into a 250 but it may be their best seller ?
-
When I had a 2006 model i thought it had one but i cant tell you for certain.
If you have been sitting in a queue for a while and try and clean the motor out before a big climb or step it wont rev out it seems restricted. Yet under load going up a hill it revved higher than any other bike I have owned. I suppose under no load with the clutch in its actually revving higher so its maybe hitting the limiter ?
also best bike ever made for steps, rear suspension just soaks them up.
-
How old is your son ?
i rode my first trial at 12
as a kid my dads routine was always the same. He put petrol in the bike and then sent me off. i might bump into him during the day but nothing was planned. I met lots of people through them picking my bike up but as the other guy said trials is a social thing. Running round after them is a recent thing and im not convinced its a good thing.
in all fairness we are miles off topic .....
-
been killing me not to ask that
-
that money was spent on proving Toni is the best rider bar none. Watched the indoor last night, spent more time on my phone. I loved the indoor stuff in the early days but that was dull last night. Manufacturers need to face up to the fact that they are contributing to the problem not the solutions at present by spending far too much on WTC.
