The swinging arm bearings seldom give trouble and need changing in my experience. However the bearings in the arm where the link plates attach are (same as dogbone) very often in need of changing. If neglected can lead to the lug being ripped from the arm. If changing in-situ it is easier if you make a long stepped drift (easily turned on a lathe) to drive them out and new ones in.

Woody, mine is a 2019 but I don't think there is many (if any) differences between them. And I wouldn't bother with the gear lever kit really as you don't have to change gear that much with such a wide torque band (and I am used to trials bikes ? ) The S3 air box mod is useful though as is putting a different lid on the air filter. (17212-NN4-G10)

90 miles???? You'll be lucky! I get about 40-50miles max, so need to keep that in mind and carry some extra fuel and plan the fuel stops on the route. Other than that, they are a great bike. I use 10-38 gearing on mine and although it will do more, usually keep to 50mph max on A roads. (Although we try and avoid main roads and keep to the small lanes between the green ones.) Easy to fit 2 Liters under seat if needed.

Swinging arms on 4RT seem to be same (at least up to2017) on all models -except for colour/finish. Also interchangable with late model 315 arms.

I think you will find that the number on the jet refers to its diameter in hundredths of a millimeter. eg. a number 38 is 0.38mm. This I believe is a standard that has been used since Adam was a lad. But, I stand to be corrected.....................

Just drill a small hole in the end of the lever and put a small cable tie through it. problem solved!

It's a pity that Dunlop don't make the proper old style trials wellys anymore, thick rubber with good penetration protection,steel midsole and toe-cap and 100% waterproof ! What more could you ask for? (Bit cold though in winter ? )

Ref. rear reflectors. From the MOT testers manual :-
Rear reflectors are not needed on motorcycles that:
do not have front and rear position lamps fitted
have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked

Correct me if I am wrong, but a speedometer is not required for MOT but is required for use on the road.

I think you'll find sidestands are all the same for 315's and 4RT's and they are pretty poor to say the least! TWK are the best but a bit pricey. The one one the 4Ride is really good but heavy..............

24mm spanner for nut, 22mm for spindle.

They are both very friendly and welcoming clubs (and I'm not involved organisationally with either) you should give them a go.Gresford have one 2moro at Llanarmon DC - great venue if a little remote.

I would suggest you check out the venues used by both Aqueduct and Gresford clubs as they are not as far north (IMHO) as you may think and they are both excellent clubs. Hope this helps.
