  1. Yes , it is like 6000 miles to make all the events. I have thought of it as the retired nationals for years. Unless you are retired there is no way to make them all for fun.
  2. You could cut it off drill it out and order an after market cable for an xr 200. But there is nothing wrong with supporting Bob.
  3. Only one unless you have a bad day!
  4. When cleaning the carb did you remove the pilot jet and make sure pilot circuit was clear?
  5. Cars should be built for eight people. And it should be illegal to drive if not 50% occupied. The alternative is motorcycles in every garage. Help save the planet from the 4 wheel idiots!
  6. Tried to reply earlier but it did not go through. I wrote a book before so this will be short. Until you have fixed the over heating I would bypass the thermostat and make sure the fan is spinning. The over flow tank should only be filled to the lowest level(.Almost empty) For a properly running bike. Will push out otherwise. I would remove the top end and check for damage. I would also remove left side cover and check for corrosion. Radiator sounds questionable.
  7. Are you sure the clutch just was bad? The old bikes were slow and the brakes poor , but it still had a fairly high top speed for a trials bike. We also ran a low or no idle which was acomplished by the heavy flywheel and no stop rules kept us moving!
  8. You actually need to just replace one or two steel plates with thinner ones. This brings the cutch pack in to the correct hieght. Any Gas Gas dealer should fix you right up.

    Weight Of

    That is like `I can text but don`t browse` or `I have a bike but can`t ride!`
  10. 93-2001 same basic motor. 1997 last red engine. 1999-2001 most desirable. 2002-2004 crap better with each year. 2005 - present still crap better each year. 2002- present pro models all ride well when running. Current issues are still kickstart, shift shaft assembly, and transmission realiability.
  11. The middle box probably had years of unburned oil in it. When pushed harder than it ever has it started burning within. And yes modern trials machines are not made to run this hard. Jetting for trail riding is totally different than for trials. I`d go up several sizes on the main jet and at least a 38-40 on the pilot. Nothing wrong with 40-50:1 with good oil if you are climbing steep trails. Remember your radiator only pushes out, does not have an over flow or recovery type system. You also have to watch your brakes. In trials we tend to keep them `tight` for instant response. Have seen many a brake over heat and a few actually catch fire on a long ride in the mountains.Never been a fan of race gas in an engine ment to go slow.
  12. What carb do you have? Also a bike can be almost ruined in a few months time, so the condition really is nothing to do with the year.
  13. Lever forward is off, all the way back is reserve, in the middle is on.
  14. Pop it once with a hammer to break the threads loose. Then use a small chisel to loosen. Or just drill the allen head out and remove the head then use vise grips to remove rest of bolt.
  15. Yes, they made a 200 in `03. You can verify by the parts book. I had to replace the shift drum in one a while back, but this still made me look it up!
  16. The bike really should not make any difference. I prefer the gasser over the sherco, but it`s reliability compared to a sherco is questionable. I also can ride a sherco well. Your local dealer support would probably make more difference than the bike. Do not listen to people that only think you should ride `their` brand as it should be obvious that your best interest has not been considered.
  17. Nickytricks is right. The only place would be on the seat and loop it through the frame. Having one on my `86 ty saved my bike when I went swimming in a 8 ft deep hole! Got a hold of the cross bar and fender strap and popped it up sideways to the surface. It semi-floated to the bank.
  18. I think it was between 5 and 6. Always seems easier when the parts are in my hands.

    Coolant Leak!

You have over filled the tank and it was now pushing out to correct the level. I believe if you look there is a lower line in the tank. That is the proper level, if you add more it will push out. You need to watch that the fan is coming on when hot. Or just take both wires off the thermostat and wire together which will cause the fan to always run. The gurgeling sound usually means it has overheated. Just need to figure out why. The fan and/or the thermo is usually at fault.
  20. Billy is correct on the pilot, but you probably ride a wide range of altitudes and temp.
  21. It is very easy to get that wrong, tonight I`ll see if I can find the tech bulletin.http://www.trialspartsusa.com/tech.html It is in the right hand column, about 2/3 of the way down. See JSE post below.
  22. The kickstart shaft has popped out a little. It has to be reset in the case. Did you replace a broken shaft also?
  23. Hey the get the brakes hot method is the most effective. Just have a 5 gallon bucket ready of water from your spigot. I know how it sounds, first time I saw it was Tommi Avala with a new bike just out of the crate. If that don`t do it you have another problem. There was nothing wrong with the stock brakes. You haven`t screwed in the adjustor too far have you? Just a thought. Keep at it, been a lot of work for a borrowed bike! Bob.
  24. By the way I thought it was great. I was just saying to mix up your practice. Don`t just favor one side, same when the bike is running. Don`t just practice your good side. Better to practice the weak points. And balacing alone all week is how I started, had to wait for sunday to go riding!
  25. Paul looks like maybe you should watch what balance does. http://www.splatshop.co.uk/blog/2011/09/toni-bou-riding-a-section-with-the-engine-stopped
