Are you using the clutch when this happens? I`ve seen the plunger on the master cylinder barely stick for a split second.
-
750cc capacity = engine rebuild 650cc = oil change
Remove clutch side case and clutch ass. Should just be a bad shift shaft or the other parts in the same area. Usually a very cheap fix price wise. Very rare to have to split the cases on the older models.
-
Sounds like the pilot jet and/or circuit is plugged. Also check the needle and clip is not moving in the slide. Usually some sort of meatal clip is held down by the spring.
-
wider pegs are fine, try 6 inch bars. Sounds more like you need to learn trials first. The bike was fine in stock trim, just takes alot of practice.
-
Lower your skid pan, remove 4 and 5. remove all the allen bolts. The case sticking on the lower right should just be the shift shaft. Just slowly work it all loose. Never remove #3 unless working on the kick stater.
-
Pull the flywheel and make sure the woodruff key is still intact. Very common problem. Then replace the intake.
-
You stated you removed all the crud off the pads. If the pads have had oil contamination they are basically ruined. They can be burned out with a torch, but new pads are the best cure.
-
Put a one way valve in the over flow.
-
As far as I know Beta never made a work shop manual. Bikes are all basic 2 strokes, except changes in the forks.
-
The 86 did have the better rear shock which made everything easier. Nose wheelies and hopping. The frame was stronger in the weak areas also.
-
Yes you can have the clutch just float. But all the parts fit the same just no bolt. It was left out for more oil flow.
-
The shaft and the spring should come apart together. I wouldn`t take apart any further till you get the new parts. If you are talking about the small center allen bolt, it is possible to run without it.
-
Yes, no problem the rad has to be loosened if I remember correctly.
-
Clutch needs to be assembled correctly, If I rememeber the TXT had a mark on the hub and one on the pressure plate. Any other tips Jon?
-
Did you just buy the bike or have you had it awhile? Did all these just happen or after it`s been apart. A little history goes a long way.
-
Wow, twenty two minutes and you`ve become the #1 BETA mechanic. All kidding aside good job.
-
Is it a rattle or a constant tick that changes with engine speed?
-
First off are you using the petcock? Has the petcock gone bad? And have you followed all the carb links on this site.
-
How about the big brass nut on the bottom?
-
Yes it was, just saw other posts. Usually over 6500ft I run a 130 main. Used to change to 25 pilot, but lately have left it alone. I would change the spockets, 10t counter or up 1 tooth on the rear.
-
150 main 30 pilot, should be a 135 main at your elevation.
-
Just tap the exposed edge of the bolt to loosen.
-
They should buy something in the 90`s disk brakes, monoshock, just something clean. Not sure if you had any aprilia,s down there. Best bike with no seat and still a flywheel feel. I prefer the new bikes,But still love the old style pull. They just need to decide.
-
If you are talking about the bolts on the spring, just use a small chisel to loosen. Then buy the 7mm head replacements used on the newer bikes. Quite simple. If you are in a hurry use the chisel to re-install.
