  1. What carb do you have? Also a bike can be almost ruined in a few months time, so the condition really is nothing to do with the year.
  2. Lever forward is off, all the way back is reserve, in the middle is on.
  3. Pop it once with a hammer to break the threads loose. Then use a small chisel to loosen. Or just drill the allen head out and remove the head then use vise grips to remove rest of bolt.
  4. Yes, they made a 200 in `03. You can verify by the parts book. I had to replace the shift drum in one a while back, but this still made me look it up!
  5. The bike really should not make any difference. I prefer the gasser over the sherco, but it`s reliability compared to a sherco is questionable. I also can ride a sherco well. Your local dealer support would probably make more difference than the bike. Do not listen to people that only think you should ride `their` brand as it should be obvious that your best interest has not been considered.
  6. Nickytricks is right. The only place would be on the seat and loop it through the frame. Having one on my `86 ty saved my bike when I went swimming in a 8 ft deep hole! Got a hold of the cross bar and fender strap and popped it up sideways to the surface. It semi-floated to the bank.
  7. I think it was between 5 and 6. Always seems easier when the parts are in my hands.

    Coolant Leak!

You have over filled the tank and it was now pushing out to correct the level. I believe if you look there is a lower line in the tank. That is the proper level, if you add more it will push out. You need to watch that the fan is coming on when hot. Or just take both wires off the thermostat and wire together which will cause the fan to always run. The gurgeling sound usually means it has overheated. Just need to figure out why. The fan and/or the thermo is usually at fault.
  9. Billy is correct on the pilot, but you probably ride a wide range of altitudes and temp.
  10. It is very easy to get that wrong, tonight I`ll see if I can find the tech bulletin.http://www.trialspartsusa.com/tech.html It is in the right hand column, about 2/3 of the way down. See JSE post below.
  11. The kickstart shaft has popped out a little. It has to be reset in the case. Did you replace a broken shaft also?
  12. Hey the get the brakes hot method is the most effective. Just have a 5 gallon bucket ready of water from your spigot. I know how it sounds, first time I saw it was Tommi Avala with a new bike just out of the crate. If that don`t do it you have another problem. There was nothing wrong with the stock brakes. You haven`t screwed in the adjustor too far have you? Just a thought. Keep at it, been a lot of work for a borrowed bike! Bob.
  13. By the way I thought it was great. I was just saying to mix up your practice. Don`t just favor one side, same when the bike is running. Don`t just practice your good side. Better to practice the weak points. And balacing alone all week is how I started, had to wait for sunday to go riding!
  14. Paul looks like maybe you should watch what balance does. http://www.splatshop.co.uk/blog/2011/09/toni-bou-riding-a-section-with-the-engine-stopped
  15. Try turning the wheel to the right and once you are better try straight. Once you can get past 20 minutes you will be ready for some advanced moves. First learn to walk up to standing on the seat. Next would be walking over the bars to the front axle for a place for your feet and back to the pegs again. Once you have mastered these there is only doing a head stand on the seat for something more exciting. Some say these are worthless skills, but those people are the one`s that ride no stop events only.
  16. 70 PSI sure seems low I`d bet on a stuck ring on the intake side of things. Seen this a lot recently trying to keep my nephews yz`s running. At least it`s a winter project. Might pull my bike out today, just had the snow melt off finally.

    Sorry, but...

Gearing on a gasser is alot different from the Beta. First gear on the Beta was usually worthless, Take the time to try it out, as you already have the spare sprocket. Yes I know, the same boring old questions but, I have just cancelled my contract with Beta and moved to Gas Gas in a deal worth the 12 hour round trip I'm just home from, so sorry about these questions but I just want to go to bed, wake up and have some answers as I honestly can't be bothered searching....so..... 09 125 How much gear oil ? It seems to be geared for the road (I want it geared for trials) So what's best gearing for it ? It has a 44 ( I think on the rear) and a 49 spare, what's best ?? Cheers from a weary traveller
  18. Just off hand I`d say it is a 93. The 93 had paoli forks with the gold seal holder. I believe the engine cases were also a gold color. The 2000 had gasgas forks and besides the plastics were chrome and silver.
  19. It could be several things. 1. Air in the line. Bleed it. 2. Bad master cylinder (or just a rebuild kit) 3. Have you added brake fluid instead of mineral oil? ruined seals. 4. An air leak. At the banjo bolts and or the clutch line itself. 5. hopefully not the clutch cover.
  20. I am 99.9% sure is not the coil. I can not ever think of anyone ever needing a coil(except the motoplat that had the cdi also). I don`t have the answer to your question.(Without looking it up) But we would all like to hear what you find.
  21. Does not matter how clean the carb is. What matters is if the pilot circuit is clear and the choke circuit is clear. (As in letting fluid pass) Also it sounds like you have a bad needle & seat(the float valve) and / or the petcock is bad. Should usually start 2nd or third kick.
  22. on the stock ty, the peg was to fold up out of the way. I would kick softly or rotate it forward, slamming it into the peg will cause a short life span on the shaft.
  23. Looks like a fun day out, keep it up!

    Rear wheel gap!

If you have a `07 and his was an `08 that is why. The `08 ran better. Now turnin` the tire trick is only the fresher nobs are now closer to the rubber?
  25. I`m not sure being you said that you were new to the sport, but everyone has already done the 1 for a stop, then 2 for a stop with a foot down. Actually the stop with the foot down should never have been allowed, or should have been a three since at that point you are no longer riding.
