I hear the boots work OK, but if you get a Sherco you don't need boots cause you never put your feet down!
-
Same here, never broke one but may take something like external snapring pliars to assist spreading the spring. If no joy, I will call Ryan to find out, let me know or just go on the RYP site and e-mail them! www.rypusa.com There is a forum there!
He and Mike help out on tech questions too! Good lot! Even for the Brits! Seems MRS don't answer !
-
Zipper,
Since you are PW'ed and technically challenged(like me) as exibitited by the 125 kicking your ass, I will tell you the secret!
One day!
-
I feel like a dumbass answering this, but I allowed others plenty of time ti chime in!
The reeds can change the way the power is applied, but the stock reeds seem a happy medium. Depends upon what you want.
Jetting changes at altitudes up to about 3000msl are usually not neccessary. Depends a bit upon the years and individual bikes, but a combo of 36/ 118 should work well as a baseline. Adjust mix screw accordingly and be sure air filter is clean!
Hope that helps!

Never seen one. The factory pistins are matched, ,to the cyl. in ABCD sizes as I recall. You must know what you need within .01mm.
The factory piston should be marked on the top, but you will need to de-carbon it to read it I think!
-
Zipper,
There is a local that may still have a "05 280 in your range. Well ridden but ok I think!
One of the local SR riders here got off the 300 and back to the 280, just too much!
Personally, a 200 would be good if you can't find a good 250 Sherco!
Just FYI as I try to stay out ou the gasser stuf!

Looks like TX! No joke!
Just read a local headline where a train was stuck down south! Noone could get to them for hours due to the high water.
After raining here for a month solid, we have had a break(in the north) this week with only scattered showers.
Got my fill of it when the daughters car got flooded in the access next to the house, required a total strip out and cleaning with water about ankle deep in'er!
Yea, you need to help out !
Keep safe!
-
Now THAT'S funny! I don't care hou you ar!
If you don't like that, you don't like yo mama!

Yea, they seem to work fine, no complaints. Give a bit of protection to the tube as well. Never really been big on the full length fork guards in CF, since they severely inhibit the prime areas for anyone that might be helping catch the bike.
I used to get the ones from DELAY, but could not obtain them last time I bought.
They seal tight as a ducks bottom with a zippie top and bottom, full length so nothing gets in.
Couple years ago, tried some of the 1/2 length ones from Seal Savers(through Lewisport). They just ride loosly on the shaft at the top end, and the instructions will tell you to fold down the tops when cleaning to remove any dirt. Never really found any.
With or without these things, I usually try to put a couple drops of the light fork oil between the dust wiper and the seal to prevent corrosion.

The Beta parts should be similar if not the same. Both Paioli
I have heard the seals are less expensive through Beta, although I run them neoprene booties and have not had to change any seals in years now! Knock on wood!

Neo,
Water can accumulate as a result of condensation in both your fuel tank and carry can!
I have found that many times if the temps are in that range it may require several kicks from cold. Below about 5c, I nonmally tip the bike ALL the way over to the left horizontal for a second or two. This spills a bit of fuel directly into the carby to help prime a cold start!

Fortunatly, reverse ethnic, US jokes are still socially acceptable! Happened to get this one today!
God forbid it be the other way round!
It doesn't matter what party you belong to - this is hilarious. From a show on Canadian TV, there was a black comedian who said he misses Bill Clinton.
"Yep, that's right - I miss Bill Clinton! He was the closest thing we ever got t o having a black man as President. Number 1 - He played the sax. Number 2 - He smoked weed. Number 3 - He had his way with ugly white women. Even now? Look at him... his wife works, and he doesn't! And, he gets a check from the government every month.
Manufacturers announced today that they will be stocking ! America 's shelves this week with " Clinton Soup," in honor of one of the nations' distinguished men . It consists primarily of a weenie in hot water.
Chrysler Corporation is adding a new car to its line to honor Bill Clinton. The Dodge Drafter will be built in Canada
When asked what he thought about foreign affairs, Clinton replied, "I don't know, I never had one."
The Clinton revised judicial oath: "I solemnly swear to tell the truth as I know it, the whole truth as I believe it to be, and nothing but what I think you need to know." !
Clinton will be recorded in history as the only President to do Hanky Panky between the Bushes."
... ya gotta love it!

Ha Ha I get it now! Thi c&nt spel! Sort uf lik thy Scots!
-
It is real!
With a rev limit like that though, means it is cammed similar to the Yam engine in the Scorpa! And with the fuel injection means the fire will go out at tickover speeds like the Mont! Yet a good 10-12 lbs lighter than both!
Should be interisting if you can afford it!

Has L+M said something here?
-
Welcome mate, sounds as though you have a bit of help already. Going out to the trials you will meet many helpful folk normally, they will keep you going!
Get hold of Ryan Young's training video if you can as a referance. Many prefer it as the best around!
And practice all you can!
Cheers,
-
Phil,
You need to mind for Pat next year! Be a good trip for you!
Just think of it like that Nivea football practice thing. When he plants that front wheel in your chest! Same look anyway!
Might get another smile out of him!
-
Wait till I look it up FOR you!
Yea, it shows the same p/n.
-
Two wins in the WTC Youth is not just good, it is GREAT!
Pat's big adventure has turned out to be a tremendous success! Thanks to all that provided support!
Now on that support thing, Louise Forsley still appears to be over there racking up a few championship points!
-
I think you can do it BS!
May need to start off with a bit more altitude!
-
Just how "COLD" is cold?
We are in mid summer now, so you should be in mid winter!
You did not say if you found any water in it!
Cheers,
-
Check for a blockage of the crankcase vent tube(below intake). If bike is an early model it may be run up under the fuel tank and pinched.
Re route it to the right side of the carb, up and over the fuel inlet to carb and then down to rear of skidplate.
Hope that helps.

Not like we don't have those dry times here, although I have not seen one in a while! Some of the places we ride, the dust is soo fine it is like talc powder, gets everywhere!
NO filter can trap 100 percent of everything without being too restrictive and the motor would not run! It is all measured such as "Catches 98% of everything down to 8 microns"!
Of course, water will wash dirt right through the filter, takes the dirt with it!
Good oil(plenty of it), regular cleaning is your best bet. I have been known to wipe the inside(bottom) of the box with the oil too. Not sure if it really helps much.
I have come to like the Jitsie filter, sort of a dual stage foam, and have had good results with the No-Toil oil and cleaner. Must be highly rated as Honda has private labeled it now and you can get it at your local Honda shop now, just FYI.
Cheers

Too early in the day for beer, Craig!
