  1. try to get more air in somehow.
  2. I guess its down to the fact that no matter how good the shock is it doesnt work as well as a linkage. There are lots of little things that could be improved on every bike, its just not a problem with regular fettling.
  3. mail Julian alexzwigg.com at he will tell you what Alexz has/had
  4. Use a stainless rod if you can
  5. One of the best bikes of the era for turning, much better than the 349 for example. The gearboxes were the best and the 340's had a great 4th gear ratio for mud sections. They were not perfect of course but like legs said they won the world champs when the competition was there
  6. Ah that would be the perfect bike then one that doesn't reqiure any maitainence! Scorpa or Sherco, Sherco every time for me, I just couldn't bear the thought of riding with an ancient engine, water pump which wants to be removed by rocks, carburettor which its difficult to drop off if needed like the above, shall I go on?
  7. In the uk around 33 pilot is fine and will work in pretty much all conditions all year, don't touch it. I think 3rd kick is not awful, but mine used to start easier, it may be technique.

    Bar Width

I always cut 12mm or 1/2" off each end.
  9. Anyone ridden the Santigosa 3 day? Where can I get regs from and is it as good as I think it will be? Want to ride this before I'm too old!
  10. Yes a vx is good, not a jot of difference with starting but seems to run cleaner everywhere else. Works on my Gas Gas too. Don't think this is a sherco problem but a maintainence issue. Strip thr carb put a new plug in make sure the air filter is new/very clean, take the mag cover off and the flywheel dry and clean all back to gether and off you go. If the problem still persists then you need someone handy to look more at things like compression and timing. YOU ALWAYS START SHERCOS FIRST THING IN NEUTRAL OR ELSE!
  11. Wrong bloke to ask there, he's lost his marbles and bought a 4rt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. you may have voted to be part of the EU but i bloody didn't!!! We are an island that is in no way connected to the European mainland... i want the pound and not the poxy euro, and don't want to pay for bloody french farmers to get away with all the crazy laws that the MEP's come up with.... We are Great Britain, England, Wales, Scotland or NI... not bloody european... ... sorry, rant over... back to my cell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you will find I meant a) geographically rather than politically and we did have a vote (referendum 1975) after the labour party expressed a wish to be outside europe(1973)when the majority voted in favour of the eu (common market. What is the problem with swapping the pound for the Euro? Whatever you think economically we are very much not an island.

  14. Unless the IOW has gone for a UDI WE are europeans too, end of geography lesson!
  15. Thats the best news I've heard in ages, went past Kilkenny on the way to the Hurran and from the road it didn't look super.
  16. Every single bit of Vesty's last bike.
  17. Well asiow managed ok on a beta 80 so I wouldn't worry too much about skill, more endurance? Wouldn't you say Perce?
  18. Its the real thing, one section one chance. My favourite trial is the Reeth 3 day, 3 days 120 different sections, magic.
  19. He had a spacer on his 05 in 04 at the lakes, in fact that bike was completly as standard with dellorto and everything else, if I remember correctly. I thought my 290 was a great bike and doubt that it was any worse on rocks than a 250. If anything now on a gas gas my complaint is the gearbox ratios which I regard as a serious defect now, affecting a very small % of sections only. If you find the 290 not "quick" enough try slipping the clutch?
  20. Perhaps this was my complaint that there is no imbetween route?
  21. Interesting report didn't notice you there? The terrain there is very good and capable of supporting riders of all levels, a couple of years ago Steve Saunders manged a win on over 20 marks lost unless I'm mistaken. I think the sections were significantly easier (on both courses)this year for whatever reason. I am going from memory but Alexz rode very well and won on 9 marks lost last year. Interesting battle, what should I say?
  22. Jarvis manages fine with a 290, doubt if you will notice much if the spacer is in or out. Kehin may be what you want. 290 has always been a softer motor my guess is you should have stayed on a 250.
