Looking for anyone that can remember or rode one of the original 230 4 speed Ossa Pennines (plonker) I alway's wanted an early all fibre glass Pennine, been hunting for 8 or 9 years anyway 2 years ago found one up near Penrith thrown in the back of a shed in one H--- of a state anyway large lump of heavys' changed hands put remains of said bike in back of van and set off for the 150 mile drive home (plenty of time to work out how i'm going to explain what a good investment it is to the other half) It was painted in austin allego metalic green and everything else in matt black (spray can). The engine unit was held together with a large hose clip round outer cover's an…

Ok I have started to strip my mh349 down and assess whats required, I have owned this bike from new and used it for trials and for general nobbing about the countryside. I has seen little use in the last 15 years apart from a handfull of trials about 8 years ago. Its been buried in the shed since and has deteriated shamefully in that time. It still has the origional cables, front tyre, paint, chain and front sprocket the rear being changed from 33 to 38 tooth when only a few weeks old. So it needs; The frame and exhaust painting The engine rattles on overrun and the piston is quite loose in the bore so I guess a rebore will be required soon although the compression is…

I've just followed a link on this twinshock forum from Woody ( thank you Sir) and ended up looking at a photo of a lean, mean looking Armstrong 320, I know nothing... ....about this type of bike, where did they come from, where did they go, how come we're not all riding the 21st Century version? Answers about Armstrongs please post here: Answers about my ignorance please post on the back of a £10 note to my home address Wayne

Just found a Kawasaki KT250 (age un-known), toying with buying and restoring it. The bike has obviously been stood for many years, and there is a hole knocked into the right-hand casing that i can put the tip of my index-finger through (this could be repaired or replaced), but saying that, the bike does have a good compression and looks as though it is complete, even has the original fenders and not much wearing-off of the decals. Also there are two cables going into the top of the right casing, one's the clutch (?), but whats the other ? Lastly, what year/years were they made, what is spare's availabillty like and are there any web sites for these bikes. Thanks in adva…

On my 349 I need to replace the gearbox bearings, two of which are in blind holes.... I have been told to support the case, behind the bearing, heat the case, and jam in the heads of a couple of large nails under the bearing to lever it out. Anyone got any further tips? Thanks Steve

hi i have an swm 240 and have had some ignition trouble. it would run fine for about half an hour then would stop sparking, i have replaced the complete ignition system (stator winding, condenser, points, ht coil and plug). this has solved the problem and it ran fine for two trials but during the most recent trial it started misfiring on a long climb. since then it will start and idle ok, but when i ride it splutters and backfires a lot. could this be the condenser breaking down? i have also cleaned the carb and tried a different clean carb but no change in the symptoms. so im pretty confident its not fuel related. please help as im very frustrated with it. thanks

...because I have always had a real softspot for them, always found them a good looking bike , have always liked Suzuki engineering and owned more than a few zooks...I like to add one to my fleet, look good sitting beside my GSXR-750WN. ...but looking at prices over the last few months tbey seem to be bit of a bargain compared to other twinshocks....what dont I know? There always used to be a fair few doing the rounds in Kent back the day...Cliffe Marshes etc.

I'm just back from a great weekend at the Nostalgia. There was a converted mono ty Yam riding in the twinshock class. This is the first one I have seen. Are they common down south? I'm not one for total originality etc but surely this is a step too far?

Need a bit of help to get my head around steering mods on a twinshock. I've read about people fitting parallel yokes to alter the steering angle, rather than cutting and re welding frames. Does that not just shorten the wheel base and leave the fork angle the same? Just wondering whats needed to improve steering is it about the rake on the forks or the wheel base? Cheers.

Finally,I have got round to staring a project I've been thinking about for ages.A long time ago I bought a totally stripped TY175 - because it was there. Then started looking around for an XT225 Serrow engine to go in it,couldnt find one.Last week I took one in to cover a bad debt.My idea is an alternative to a TLR,(which look nice but I could never ride them any sense)but with the added bonus of electric start. Tonight I cut the frame around enough to get the XT motor in and started sussing out measurements for engine mounts etc.Its a bit of a squeeze but it will work, and so far looks like it will make a nice bike.Anyway reason for posting is that the biggest problem I …
