HELP!!! I am helping restoring a 1935 Triumph 250 cc 2/5 trials bike. Registration is from Coventry factory ARW 701 on 5/3/1935 Engine number is 5.R.5.1700 and Frame is S 2291. Engineering work has gone well but we are trying to trace origins of this bike .PARTICULARLY tHE RIDER OR TEAM It is thought to be one of 5 used in a factory team in 1935 -prehaps the Scottish ??? but to date we had had no luck with Coventry Transport and National m/c museums. Also Brooklands and Triumph owners and Triumph factory were suggested but to no avail. DVLA had no Coventry records of this time. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Looking through magazines (or othe…

Afternoon, I have the opportunity to buy a 1963 BSA C15 frame no C15C *** engine no C15S *** which I think is a 1960. Does this frame make for a good LDT frame, It looks as though the rear seat hoop has been made wider by about 1-2inches in comparison to my standard C15 frame? is this a easy fix? I know that the engine if in standard form is a high compression engine, Probably not right for trailing! am I right in saying the gearing would be closer to the trials gearing? lastly any ideas on what I should be offering, it has a Sammy miller PVL system and is a runner although very snappy power delivery. Alloy petrol tank. 19inch wheels? I am at a point weather to con…

Looking to either service or replace the MK 1 Concentric fitted to my G3C. It is currently fitted with a MK1 Concentric 626 model. Its a 1960 G3C 350cc engine, wader MAG, fitted with a pancake filter. If I go for a new carb, should I stick with the same model? Any suggestions on jet sizes, if I get another 626?

Could anybody tell me what to look out for on a 1964 BSA B40T. The sprocket is welded to the hub, at first i thought this was a bodge, since found out that they were originally made this way, is this true ? Would another hub (that takes a bolted sprocket) fit ? Ifso, which ? Gaff.

I am new to trials riding having only started this xmas but have devolved from a 2003 gasgas to ty250 and now a tiger cub which is a fixer upper, clutch, carb/timing being the main things, my question at this point is what size jets are you guys using and how many turns out on the mixture questions, the carb is a mikuni vm22, also do you cover the air hole at the bottom of the mouth at the front of the carb where in meets the manifold? any help appreciated

My c15 slips out of 1st under a light load. So far at least, it has not done this under hard throttle. There are no sounds or jumps, it just sort of slips into neutral. I pulled it apart and the cam plate had a little defect where it catches the spring in first gear so I cleaned it up square with a carbide end mill. It seemed OK but after getting hot it started slipping out again. The cam plate has no BSA or part number markings. I have ordered a new one. The bike was dead when I got it and so I did a total disassembly with replacement of any suspect parts. If it was anything obvious I probably would have seen it. It does not slip out of other gears or have any o…

Is there anything to do to a BSA Bantam front hub(std D14 / B175) before it goes to be laced to a 21" rim. I have the rear sorted (widened) just don't want to get it laced to find out I should have done something. Thanks in advance.

I'm now up against a problem that you're probably familiar with(!) but I've only just come across - where can I get a 20" trials tyre from? Do Dunlop occasionally produce some for older 'bikes or are 20" trials tyres now made from "absolute unobtainium"? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I've even considered lacing another C15 hub onto a 19" or 21" (clearance problems with 21"), while keeping the original wheel (and old, cracked tyre) for posterity. But what a lot of unnecessary and expensive hassle, particularly when I want to keep the 'bike completely original. What can I do? All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. Barry

  10. Started by wallo,

So, where do I start. We built an Ariel a few years ago and I just cannot get it to run when hot without making hideous noises. My initial thoughts were that the top end was getting starved of oil, I have a frame with the oil filler under the seat and the return pipe has a hole in it before it pushes the oil up to the rocker. The hole is about 5mm diameter so the oil does not bother to carry on past it. I put an additional pipe in before it entered the return pipe, issue was the same, I then removed this and restricted the return hole by putting an inner clutch cable down the pipe along with a nipple that closed up the hole whilst oil returned, issue was the same. So I…

  11. Hi All, Hope you are all keeping well, I am struggling to attain a few bits for my DMW MK15 trials bike which i am currently restoring. Would someone be able to guide me where I could post on the forum. As I am in need of a set of steering head bearings. No originals were found as the bike was in bits when I received it and was not then able to get measurements or part number. And I am looking for a complete exhaust for the bike. The frame bore for the bearing is 46mm outer and then chamfered to a depth of 12mm, Then inner bore of the bearing needs to be 32mm. I have been struggling for a few months now but after a show i have been to have been advised to pop…

Nearly there with the Cub have had it running but it is not right. It is fitted with the Del-Orto carb but to start it needs the throttle open with the choke on, when the choke is released the engine dies. Can any one tell me have you had to change to any different jet sizes etc in these carbs or alter anything, also what jets, cutaway etc did your carb come with. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi all, Despite new oil pump / parts (design 1939...) Do need a "oil tap" or keep draining ~250ml before each ride.. Will kindly ask if you might have idea where to search for a tap hose/hose joint not restricting the oil flow...as tiny tap as possible, to be fitted close to the oil tank... Or I have to reweld a tap joint at the bottom of the oil tank... The "output" hose is hidden betwen the engine/gearbox... Father did assemble a rather big tap on his Pre-unit Triumph...where a lot of space is available.. Cheers,

I have a genuine Comerfords Cub, but for the life of me, I cannot find a decent photo of the original petrol tank logo for the bike. It looks like a coat of arms. I have asked all the guru's, including Gordon Farley, the Mikes and Dave Thorpe. Does anyone have such a photo?
