I need to partly strip a 1963 Distributor C15 engine to check it over , it will be built as a std 250, as soft as possible . I am not up to speed on these only in gaining info in threads I have seen recently. Are there any weak areas to check, I am hoping to get away with top end strip for now , any thing else to check?/ It will be a long term project, just as long as the motor is sound. It kicks over with good compression, supposedly a runner a few years ago. Thanks in advance

I have a distributor BSA C15 engine I intend to build for trials, I have a WD low ratio box, I want to keep it 250cc, also intend to keep the bush bearing having a new phosphor bronze one made to suit. Having removed the top end all looks good so far, not run for a while but sound. PVL or Electrex ignition will be used. Has anyone any more tips for a soft 250cc build?? Thanks in advance...

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify a bsa frame. The engine is a b40 and I was told the frame is a b25. There are a couple of things that seem strange. The log book has it down as a March 65 bike, but I am pretty sure the earliest b25’s were 68. I have the frame number in the log book, but I can’t find it on the frame, does anyone know where it should be. Also it seems like the frame has been modified. There should be 2 center posts, from the foot pegs up to the front of the seat. It seems like these have been modified to one center post. After having a look on google I can see a couple of b40 trials bikes that look the same. Does this lo…

Several years ago I bought this Cagiva but never could get it running right. The previous owner mentioned he wouldn't mind getting it back from me. So at the recent vintage bike show I see he has this AJS so I offer to swap the bikes. He gets the Cagiva and I end up with ANOTHER project. Fortunately for both of us he agrees. This last box is fully of freshly chromed parts. Unfortunately this includes the oil tank, which I think should be black. I haven't had a chance to fully inventory the parts. Then again I barely know what it should look like when it's complete! I went out today and looked at the parts more carefully, here are some more pics: I b…

My B40 has a bit of an appetite for plugs, tried different makes with little discernable difference. Also use different carbs, Amal for those where you have to, and Kehin the rest of the time. Burns a bit of oil so plug gets black anyway and difficult to get a proper picture. Runs a ticks over fine (particularly with Kehin) then develops a slight misfire before plug gives up completely. New plug and away she goes. Have heard this isn't unique to my bike. Any ideas ? Thanks Ross

Hi Guy's, I own a beautiful 1961 Matchless G3C that isn't running at it's best. I think it's the carb but before I go out and buy a new carb I wondered if anybody could recommend somebody in the midlands that would be able to tune my bike? It ias a AMAL MK1 Concentric carb, after about 5 mins of running it appears to run out of fuel and you have to tickle the carb again to be able to start it as if it is getting air into the carb from somewhere. I have a Domino fast action throttle on it and wonder if that contributes to the problem as when you open it up quickly it appears to jump straight to the main jet. Desperately want to get her running nice as at the moment she i…

Hi , as above my cub has one of Petes clutches .Question is does anybody else run one these with an Armac lightener ?, I can't seem to be able to get the action right ,if I adjust so as the bike will kick start ok this results in there not being enough leverage to disengage properly . Iam having doubts that this type of clutch will work with the said llightener . Any feedback or help would be great . Thanks .

Firstly - Hello to you all I am picking up a Sprite trials bike this weekend fitted with a Sachs 125 engine, accompanying it is a spare Sachs engine & chromoly frame. The bike has been sat festering in my dads shed for the best part of 15 years, prior to this it was owned by my great uncle. I stripped to restore it approx 8 years ago, the restoration was halted by a move & I recently stumbled upon this thread which has rejuvenated my interest. My dad has now agreed to let me have the bike as he has no time in which to restore it but I have noticed very limited information available on the internet, I have trawled all the information available online but was won…

Can someone help please how do you remove the gearbox sprocket on a tiger cub. Sounds simple. Have removed clutch casing, duplex chain and sprockets and now cannot see a method apart from removing the gearbox from kickstart side. I believe that there is a mod to the clutch side crancase casing to make this easier, has anyone got this ?. bike is later engine with distributor. thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I have recently got hold of a triumph 3TA twin engine basket case. This will eventualy be slotted into a royal enfield 250 crusader trials frame to make the popular TriField or Tri Enfield machine. Has anyone out there built one of these bikes, and if so what would be the best engine specification to go for - 350 or 500, There are a lot of tuning options from stock 350 to Daytona 500. etc Any info and advice greatly apreciated. Jon Summerfield.

Looking for a little guidance and this would seem the place to be, I have recently bought a rough Tiger cub with the notion of humiliating myself in some pre 65 trials. However the more I look into this the more difficult it seems to be to know what to options to take in setting it up. The first hurdle was actually easier than anticipated, I started it at the weekend and the engine and gearbox seem okay. I bought a 4.00 trials tyre to check if it would fit and seems okay in what I believe is the wider swinging arm except for the chain running very, very close to the tyre. I think I will try and mover the engine over a few mm and I also notice that there is a front sprocke…

Hi I have just modified my Cub to run with PVL ignition, I set it up to Serco's initial figure of 3mm BTDC, it starts and ticks over much better now, though it seems lumpy and backfires abit at higher revs, I haven't tried it out in anger yet, just in the garage for short bursts to keep the neighbours sweet. Has anyone any info on timing set up, my cub is standard 199cc with standard cam and compression ratio. I will ride next sunday in a club trial and see how it goes. Any info appreciated. Triton
