Hi All I have just fitted 3 new surflex clutch plates to my cub, with all adjustments correct the final plate fitted is only flush with the housing edge with lever out. With lever pulled in the plate's drive tangs disengage from the housing and the plate slips down. Any help appreciated. triton

  2. I came across this site when i was looking for some piccys of an Alta Suzuki for a friend who has never heard of one. http://www.eurospares.com/newadd.htm Theres a hell of a lot of stuff on the site but some very interesting old photos that might just be of interest to any trials fans of the trials bikes and personalities of yesteryear. 4. Well not actually Betor fork oil but oil in Betor forks Swapped the bits around in the shed the other day between the Sherpa 340 and the BSA B40 trials special. I'd bought some forks off flea bay NOS and have put the stantions in the Sherpa and the Sherpa ones in the BSA B40 which has OSSA sliders as the ones originally in the B40 were marked. All bits swapped over no problem as they are both Betor and now i can put the old parts back on flea bay to recoup some of me money So just thought i would ask: What fork oil do you guys use? Haynes recommends SAE10w but gives 150cc and 180cc in two different parts of the manual, typical Haynes I'm 14 stone of rippling flab …

Hello Rainy Sunday here in Switzerland, so I put some clips on: http://www.twnclub.ch/scottish_files/Pre65/2003_Pre65.htm I was taking on Saturday afternoon videos with my Sony Camera, but had only time after 3 years to convert them to smaller size (it's still 1-2MB). (needs highspeed ADSL to view or download) Are there more pics / clips on other sites ? Hope you are enjoying them... And good luck for coming event ! Patrick

do people use in their unit BSA C15 B40 Cub engined mounts? Monograde or multigrade? Mineral or castor based? I'm thinking of running mine on Castrol R40 as recommended to me but I'm not sure if this is overkill or not for trials (as opposed to scrambles or grrasstrack). Also have people fitted external oil filters? If so, what and where did you mount it? Any help/pearls of wisdom appreciated. Cheers, Rob.

  7. Started by triton,

Hi I have just modified my Cub to run with PVL ignition, I set it up to Serco's initial figure of 3mm BTDC, it starts and ticks over much better now, though it seems lumpy and backfires abit at higher revs, I haven't tried it out in anger yet, just in the garage for short bursts to keep the neighbours sweet. Has anyone any info on timing set up, my cub is standard 199cc with standard cam and compression ratio. I will ride next sunday in a club trial and see how it goes. Any info appreciated. Triton

OK took the B40 for it's first run today up at Burrycliffe. Didnt enter as this was the first time the bike has actually moved under it's own power, well if you dont count 20 yds down the drive, and as of 10:00 last night i had just finished the airfilter. So had a little ride around before the trial, observed a section to help out, then had a little ride after. Actually i was quite surprised as it wasnt that bad all things considered, oil leak from the front fork seals also the rocker spindles and chain case but nothing some silicone wont cure. The chain did jump off once however and after talking to a couple of guys with Faber framed B40's they said the chain tens…

Hello , Can anybody suggest the correct length spokes to use to offset the rear tiger cub wheel when used in a C15. I've already been told that a bantam hub would have been better but i would like to keep the Cub Hubs. Many thanks Mark.

  13. Probably not the right forum for this but i like the clientelle here I was observing on Sunday at a Pre 65 classic trial as the bike isnt finished yet got nothing to ride so thought i would help out by observing. You know Classic Trials the ones with the relatively easy sections. I was amazed, probably shouldnt be, by the number of riders who seemed to think it ok to blatantly kick, uproot and generally remove rocks from the section. When i jokingly asked one of them "Do you work for Tarmac Roadstone" as i admired his roadbuilding technique all i got was "no but that rocks loose". Ya dont say!! I pointed out that if him and his mate teamed together they could…

  16. Started by old trials fanatic,

There have been a lot of contributions of late about Cubs and the building and setting up thereof. Well for my sins i an in the final stages of building a B40 so what are the recommendations for a B40? You know the usual stuff? Carb size and type. High Comp or Low comp piston. Sports or road cam. Gearing. Michelin or IRC tyres. (While I'm at it I've been told that tubeless Michelins are slightly softer construction than tubed ones. Is this true?) My bike has a Faber frame and Betor front forks and has a Ex WD GB B40 Engine at present with points on sidecover but has had them removed and a PVL ignition fitted. I was thinking of fitting a Amal Mk 1 Concentric 26mm NB…

  18. Started by old trials fanatic,

Now firstly sorry to post this in this section but i respect the advice and opinions of the contributors. I have just bought a new NZI carbon fibre helmet from Sammy Millers to use when riding the B40 in local Pre 65 trials as i understand helmets are now compulsary. On opening the box i noticed the helmet didnt have an ACU gold sticker. Didnt have any ACU sticker to be precise. Rang Sammy Miller and they said that was right that the helmets are not ACU approved but that this shouldnt be a problem. Now in your opinion and experience is this so? I would have assumed that Sammy Millers being a major trials specialist should not be selling items that are not suitable for…
