In X-Trial the course clerk stands at the start of the section, gives the rider the OK to begin, and then walks away. But the countdown clock doesn't start until the bike has moved past the base of the first challenge. A manual stop watch would be too subjective and inaccurate. Is there a hidden electronic device or photo eye?

Interesting point raised in the ACU forum report. [Q]• Experience at World rounds tended to indicate that even those riders who were not necessarily at the top end of results felt greatly disadvantaged if they were not in the same position as others regarding the number of assistants they had. Once Dougie Lampkin & Adam Raga ended up with 3 – 4 people circulating with them – lots of others are now trying to achieve the same, regardless of ability/ results.[Q] So why is it allowed then ? Many think sections are too difficult/dangerous, but only a few have the security of numerous bodies to catch for them, would the top riders ask for eased sections if no other pers…

Following on from the story in T&MX, it made interesting reading and a little sense. To re-iterate the facts: It's meant to be a world championship, open to 6 riders Four of which are Spanish, one Brit, one Jap!! No disrespect to the Spanish boys for being good, but it's not exactly a global field And is it really trials riding or is it a 'show' if it's a 'show' should it be a world championship? And then look at the organisers, enough said. Many people ask me what I do as a sport, when I say trials riding '' Oh yes Iv'e seen that on Eurosport, jumping up and over man-made obsacles, you do that'' ''Not exactly''! Has the sport of trials gone too far? Does…

We are now well into the final month of Dougie's contract with HRC-Montesa and still no word as to who he will be riding for in 2006. So let's speculate on which bike you think Dougie will ride in 2006.

Say after one year on a factory Mont (Raga), and after one year on a factory Gasser (Bou), what do you think the race for #1 would look like, versus what it's been over the last few years?

So far we have: Fajardo to Sherco, Casales ? The Gelabert brothers both to Vertigo! Is that it for rider swap for the indoor season? If so Vertigo scored big. Seems they believe in youngters and they have a beautiful trio of talented riders! Sherco? Well Fajardo will prob ride less efficient than the Gas gas IMHO. Beta is quite crowded! Bincaz, Martin, Dabil... They all new aquisitiona as well. Prob no changes for this season. Where will Cadales go other than Gas Gas??

After losing the 2007 WTC on the cruelest of rules (last goals the winner) it was good to see Laia Sanz back at the top of women's trials, not that she ever wasn't. At the moment she is way ahead of the opposition, however Becky Cook is becoming a serious challenger to Iris Kramer.

If Tony Bou is not allowed to contest full WTC/INDOOR series some problem w/ the rules needs fixing now. How can a board of men make him wait ,a rider w/ skills enough to win or even podium any WTC event is obviously up to par and should be part of the show. I would like someone who knows how the classification system works to eplain it please. What a year 06 should be w/ about 6 different riders realistically likely to score big points w/ overalls and podiums.

Wow! What happened to Raga on Saturday night? He looked totally disinterested and beaten by the whole thing. Was anyone there to see it? or anyone know him/team personnel?? Would be really interesting to understand whats happening in his head. Must be that Toni Bou being unbeatable has mashed his head again. I know this happened a few years ago but thought he'd worked past this physcological barrier. Cabestany seems to be OK and goes with the openly spoken of approcah of 'will ride for 2nd place and if Bous slips up, I'll try to capitalise and push for a win' Raga on the other hand seems battered and beaten as soon as he loses a point and Bou stays on zero It must…

A few cool modifications I noticed whilst having a browse over the bikes at the WTC in Potugal and Spain, if anyone's interested. There's probably a shed load of stuff you cant see as well. Gas Gas Raga's bike had a reduced cappacity flat fuel tank. Raga's had a longer front pipe on. All WTC bikes had the magnesium alloy crank cases. Raga's had clear handlebar grips with the Gas Gas logo underneath, very cool! Carbon fibre front lights. Raga's frame looked to be a slightly different shape too, but not 100% sure on that one. Beta Kenny had some very nice Michelin fork protectors with like a burnt/scorched effect near the bottom. James Dabill's had black yokes a…

Would anyone have a photo of the Mechatecno E Bike at Loudres World Round that you could post or link please, Just curious. Thanks in advance. The manufacturers have half a back mudguard showing on their thing-book page with a 'cropped' photo of the winners rostrum showing just their rider César Panicot.
