Having spent most of this year planing the last round of the British youth trials championships in October, we now feel bitterly disapointed to hear that some of the so called stars may not bother entering as there champiomship class's have already been decided. Well thanks very much We have got Steve Saunders to build the sections for the Saturday night indoor trial, arranged a cheep ferry rate with Red Funnel ferries, got local radio, and now TV intersted, trying to get Barry Robinson from T& MXN to do the press coverage, sold most of the sections to sponsors to raise money for the local hospice, etc etc. Our lads spend most weekends traveling to the mainland t…

I have a situation where I live that I cannot keep a trials bike but still want to ride one. So I had an idea! Now would someone out there in the West Midlands area be willing to look after a bike for me if I bought one, then bring it to trials events on a regular basis and look after it and maintain it after the trial? For this I would pay all costs plus a few bob on top. I don't want to take the p*** so I would make sure it is worth someone's while to do this. Anybody interested in something like this? You can PM me if you want or email me at ian.beardsall AT googlemail.com Cheers Ian

I have fond memories of rushing home from school to watch kickstart on the TV in my youth. With the events going on at Hawkstone I began thinking if perhaps it was time something like this was done again. What do other people think?

I don't suppose that anyone will divulge what the Appleyard sponsorship of the British Champs cost, just interested really. Where does the money go to though, and is it the most expensive for entries?

For all the years I have been involved in trials either riding or observing I have never really come to terms with the ruling that once the front spindle of a bike has passed the end section pegs it's classed as section completed, just recently whilst observing a section a rider entered the start gate rode the section so far with a clean, the section end pegs was at the top of a bank which was wet and slippy the rider managed to get his front wheel past the end pegs, but with his back wheel still spinning slid back down into the section, the rider pushed the bike out of the section, as I looked to a club official who was watching he said I have to mark the rider as clean,…

It's gratifying to know that our chosen sport is just about the safest motorsport there is. But nothing is totally safe, and medical events can happen anywhere (especially as many of us are no longer in the first flush of youth). I do think organising clubs could do a little more on this front. I know Golden Valley have a defibrillator that is placed at Section 1, but I only know that from the time I observed Section 1 for them. It has never been mentioned at signing-on or rider's briefing. At signing-on with another club, I saw what looked like an old tupperware box marked First Aid. So here are my suggestions for consideration: Each club should have a decen…

With the extra bank holiday to celebrate the Royal wedding on Friday 29th April, I was thinking of applying for a permit to put on a little Friday afternoon trial on the Cotswold Hills near Broadway. Ten sections with two routes on each, probably be self observe in the main, but just for a bit of fun. I could tailor it to suit a particular need. Mega hard A route or Begginers Easy route, trail bikes, you could let me know what you want and I'll make it for you. Would anyone be interested, or will you all be watching the big event, glued to your tv screens? Pete

I'm interested to find out if anyone has had any experience completing the ACU risk assessments for trials events? How many different areas need to be assessed? In what depth do we need to go? What are the implications of getting a risk assessment wrong in the event of an incident? Any thoughts on the matter would be most welcome as I am faced with this task and I personally feel that the ACU's interpretation of what is required is a little..... lets say vague. Thanks

The government in threatening to close a large number of green lanes - this will drastically effect trailriding and will have a knock on effect on all the big trials events too, such as the Sammy Miller series & the ACU Classic series, in fact any event that uses green lanes to link up the sections. The Mid Wales Centre will be running an extra round of the 2005 Novogar Championships on 25th September 2005. As the ACU stated on their website, they have been looking for extra rounds to replace cancelled events, and the Mid Wales Centre have confirmed that they are available to organise on this date. The Mid Wales Centre Secretary asked me to post the Regs and Entry Form here on TrialsCentral. This is a joint effort within the centre, not associated with any one club, so things are looking pleasantly healthy on the manpower front. Original News Article Here Maps, Rider Lists, Results Etc will be posted in due course on: Llanfyllin website www.trialspace.co.uk a…

Having been incredibly impressed by the amount raised by Richmond's 2005 Scott Trial (as detailed here) I'm determined to do what I can to get a Trials Central Charity Team together to support their 2006 event. It's been talked about before, but never followed up on. This time I'm serious and will devote the time and effort into making it happen. We've got a number of riders on these forums who may feel that the Scott, overall is just too much, but as part of a charity relay team could have a great day being part of the toughest one-day Trial in the world and also do a lot of good for the Scott Charities at the same time. Via the site I think we could do okay on the fun…

Just spotted a 500 Norton trials on eBay. I could be wrong (as usual!) but I seem to remember it being advertised some time ago (by a genuine owner) and then exactly the same ad running again a bit later (by a completely different seller). I therefore assumed the latter ad to be placed by a scumbag scammer and informed eBay accordingly. Now, here's the same ad running again. If anyone's tempted to bid, do please tread carefully and make sure you're entirely happy with the seller's (somewhat dubious, I reckon) authenticity. Apologies to all concerned if my suspicions are entirely unjustified.
