Classic Trials

Has there or is there anything currently regarding an EVO class in trials? Comparing to MX, EVO is anything pre 90ish, and superEVO pre 97ish. EVO i guess would be covered by what we call air cooled mono, but once bikes went water cooled theres nothing really to separate out another class. With 90% of people competing in modern trials on a sub 10 year old bike thats 20 something years of bikes kind of without a class, every bit as large as TS and larger than ACM and pre65. Will there ever be a requirement for another "classic" grade, or does trials just not require as many grades as MX? When/if that time comes, what do you think will be the cutoff, since theres been no bi…

I run my shocks with the body on the bottom..the non-sexy orientation....with the decals the right way up. hi just got my new project its a jeffries honda xl250 reg number nvy66p does anybody out there have any photos or imformation about the bikes it is in a bit of a sorry state so ineed some help to restore it to its former glory i am missing the front mudguard stays and both mudguards and exhaust is wrong does anybody know the value of these bikes is it worth spending a fortune on it if its only going to be worth 1500 pound when its done up ????

Building a Francis Barnett with a 32A motor and seem to have starting issues from cold. Motor has been totally rebuilt, new piston, crank, mains, seals etc and is fitted with a new Electrex world ignition and new Amal concentric carb from Villiers services. Running a Villiers service front pipe and Alan Wright WES silencer. From cold it doesnt seem to be getting enough fuel, but when you check the plug its fouled. Once hot, it runs and starts fine. Can anyone confirm the best plug to use with this set up and also what pilot jet should be in the Amal. Cheers

help! Iam fitting a bantam cub rear hub to my c15. .. how ever the rear bantam sprocket is a narrower gauge from the c15 chain , i beleive the chain size is a 428 for the c15 . i need to have a sprocket made which fits the bantam hub and is compatible in size to the drive sprocket and chain on the c15 does any one know where i can get a rear sprocket made ?

Not wanting to start a can of worms or ongoing debate can anyone point me in the direction or give the basics of the rules for bikes entered in the Scottish pre 65 trial..... And at what point would a bike be okayed etc etc.

Hi All I re-built my Cheetah trials bike (37A Villiers motor) a few years ago, but have only now started to use it in classic trials. The bike was put together with whatever came in the boxes and everything fitted as it should. Today, I found the bike was definitely "overgeared". I have established that the final gearing on the bike now, is 15T/54T. Does anyone have an idea what it should be? Thanks in advance David

Just acquired a Dalesman, does anyone know how the swinging arm releases? I have removed the near side but with threaded spindle but the other side won’t budge. Not sure if it’s threaded or just needs a drift to get it out. also does anyone knywhere the frame number is? does anyone have a manual or handbook? thanks Dow

Having looked up some older postings on the effect of ethanol in fuel, and before i refill it, is ethanol free fuel available now, and what fuel companys supply it, if any.

Hi, anyone know how to contact Charlie Harris if indeed he's still around? I'm trying to piece together any history of my Montesa Cota 330 which I'm quite sure used to be his and supplied/supported by Robinsons of Rochdale. I think he was originally from up north somewhere or possibly Midlands? and spent sometime in the Weymouth area which is how the bike ended up in this area. I bought it from someone he sold it to who worked with him at Bovington or Lulworth camps. Hi , I have got a contact with a guy who has 4 bikes for sale , 3 of which are DOT bikes, now I know nothing about them and have sketchy info . He says one is a Samba that was only made for a year and another has Banana forks . So the question is are they desirable to trials riders and are they reliable for road users as I may wont one for road use . Thanks for any help in advance . Cheers Allan .

As TMX were a little shy I though't I'd post this on here Mr Roger Harvey Williams, the Stockton Stallion, clevelands answer to George Clooney no less, won the Twin Shock class at the Peak trial and secured his first British Championship. No doubt he's still talking about it and looking forward to those championship winners get togethers in the years to come with Dougie, Graham, Steve Colley, Steve Saunders and friends.
