  1. My recently purchased 1975 Yamaha Ty250 appears to have an enlarged aftermarket reed valve intake. I had to cut a new carb to air cleaner boot by about 15mm to get it to fit without crimping. Does anyone know what brand of aftermarket "performance" reed valve upgrade blocks would have been common back in the day. Or does anyone know of someone who still provides a block and reeds that would fit? My current reeds are frayed and broken.

I am thinking about getting into some "classic" or "vintage" trials events next year, and since I need a new build project, I thought it might be nice to build a decent vintage trials bike. Mind you, my level is novice at best (been riding trials for a year, I can balance, do lock to lock turns, clean 1' to 1.5' obstacles). I looked for the AHRMA rule books for trials and the classes listed on their web site are: 13.1.1 PREMIER HEAVYWEIGHT: Certain pre-1965 era and like design, non-unit construction (separate, removable gearbox), four-stroke machines, 350cc and larger. Examples: BSA B32, Ariel HT., Triumph Trophy, Royal Enfield Bullet, etc., or accurate replica…

Got a few bikes that run points ignition, and im fed up paying over the odds for variable quality condensers. Anyone using modern ceramic or polyester capacitors instead, do they work, and if so care to divulge what size you're using, or tried? And yes, i do know solid state ignition systems exist.

I've had converted Norman B4 for many years, originally a roadster with 2T engine, so I fitted an 8E and set about mod-ing it for Vintage trials in UK. Now in France and hoping to get it sorted again , so can anyone offer advice please. The gearbox is off a 125 12D I think with 17t sprocket and primary is also 12D I recall. The barrel for some reason I had .040" milled off the top to raise compression, perhaps not a wise choice. porting is standard and I'd like to choose a Mikuni I think inplace of the original S24 and S25's carb's I've been using ,question is which one? I'm about to give it a rebore as it's worn, are there any other choices than the Villiers in use? …

September 23rd 2007 is the date for the Twinshock Trials enthusiast. The Wye Valley Auto Cub will be running a traditional road road based trial dedicated to Twinshock trials motorcycles. The trial will be run over a 30 mile loop taking in 12 groups, using 30 observed sections. Using many of the old Wye Valley Traders Groups in the area, plus new groups the organisers have managed to secure. The organisers are hoping to attract some of the riders of the Twinshock era from the 70s and 80s as well as many of the regulars of todays Twinshock scene. The trial will have two routes, so riders who take part in the ACU classic series and the Sammy Miller serieswill be catered…

Hi, There are some ignition kits available on the market. I would like to choose one of those for my BSA B40 Trials version, which is under construction. This will be the real thing with specially designed light oif frame, alloy hubs, lightened engine, etc. Has somebody any experiences which one PVL or Rex Caunt or Electrexworld or some other is a good choice ? Best regards Restomoto
