I have been riding and restoring trials bike for the past 25 years. The riding has never been very serious...some sand...some drop-offs...some small ledges to climb up...some rocks, etc...Not climbing up freezing streams or anything like that...all older and smaller bikes...TLR 200, TY 175...etc... nothing modern. For the past three years I have been out of commission. I've had some medical issues including a prostate surgery and I'm in the middle of some procedures on my eyes. The day before yesterday I went out for a couple of shortish rides...in very warm weather I might say. I came home exhausted after probably 45 minutes of riding. Two days later I am still sore…

The Strtaford-Upon-Avon Club are running a round of the Sammy Miller Classic Bike series on Sunday 23rd May starting at Downs Farm near Bourton on the Hill. Current entries, as follows: 1 Pre unit rigid = 3 2 Pre unit springer = 7 3 2 stroke = 5 4 Unit 4 stroke = 7 5 Pre unit sidecar = 5 6 Unit sidecar = 2 7 Twinshock sidecar = 1 8 Twinshock = 24 9 Trail bikes = 5 10 Easy route-all classes non champoinship = 23 Overall total = 82. The SCUJ trial (and the Sammy Miller series) was I believe created for British bikes and sidecars competing on sensible sections. If the trial was limited to this, there would be just 29 entries at present instead of 82. Entry…

Hello all. Im in need of some advise of where I can buy plastics for a project I have here in New Zealand. They need to be universal fit plastic mudguards which would suite an 80's bike, TY etc. Ive found a couple of places further afield but would like to know if there are more local places which will have a more desirable delivery charge. Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know where to get the paper numbers from that you stick on the front of your bike? I would imagine there must be one or two organisers on here who can point me in the right direction. Cheers.

I ride in the US and have a 1987 Beta TR 34 and a Fantic 240 Pro. One has to go as I set the spring lineup of bikes to ride this year. I am not a serious trials rider. Go to a 2-4 meets a year, ride novice and in my yard. I do it because it's fun and it helps so much with enduro, hare scrambles etc. Both bikes are in about the same shape. The Fantic my be a little nicer. The Beta is the best balancing bike and is a better pure trials bike. I think parts are much harder to find though. Worry that a crank or ignition failure might finish off the Beta. I like to ride really technical trails with lots of logs, off camber tight turns. Might run 12-14 miles in an afte…

Being "vintage" myself, I decided to go the vintage path in trial bikes. (Innately I asked about 90's Fantic, and received helpful information, but I think my heart is the vintage design and look) By vintage I mean air cooled bikes. I'm 6'0 tall and weight about 165lb. Looking for a fun trail bike to learn the basic and maybe in the future to participate in the category of vintage trials bike races. My main concern is getting spare parts for the bike. I'm locate in the US. From what I read the main 2 option are Yamaha TY125 or Honda TLR reflex. From the to option above- any year engine combo recommendation? Did I miss other bike option? …

I haven't riden a trial for nearly 10 years now so I'm a little out of touch with it all. Which championship would be the best for me to ride on my Montesa Cota 330 (1985). According to the acu web site there appears to be 2 which I could enter. Sammy Miller and Acu Traditional?? Do any these Trials involve road work? Which would be the best for me and the 330? I presume I still need to join a local club (will join Nene Valley anyway) but do I need an ACU licenece - when I started in 1988 you needed one, they then abolished it. Is that still the case? Other than the national champs are there any good events in the Midlands for Twinshock? Thanks, Steve
