Hi I am picking up my new rev3 on Friday and was just wondering if they still have the problem of the float not closing the inlet for fuel of soon enough and pouring fuel out the overflow or has beta fixed it? cheers

OK folks, being off work for a week (mandatory holiday shutdown) I had time to complete the fiber plate modification document. This makes the clutch progressive, eliminates drag, cold stick, slip and reduces lever pull (if you leave two springs out). And the best part... It's free (if you already have the files and Dremel polishing wheel) Yes it will cost you some time but hey you're working on your bike. That's still quality time compared to working on the car. The PDF came out over 10Meg so if you don't have a high speed connection it may take a bit. Sorry but the pictures are necessary. Enjoy Andy Edit: File optimised and size reduced to 1.8MB Clutch_Fix.pdf …

I've got my carb off and going to clean it. I'd like to know what size the carb is in case I need a bowl gasket. From what I'm seeing it looks to be a VM26. This is for an`01 Beta 250 Rev 3 Not an `02.

Any ideas please

Decided to run my Beta Techno 1995 on the road for a while. Have fitted a set of lights that have been bench tested to confirm they are good including the horn. Tried stealing a feed from the power that goes to the electric fan. Have found the voltage to be all over the place from 2 volts with my light loom connected, then 6 volt on the bike alone, and sometimes it will run at 12 volts. The more that is on the lower the volts are?? I have the brown wire from the stator running up to a black box which then comes back out to a silver box that gets very hot. Can anyone confirm how the bike should be wired, or away to sort a viable output that will feed both the fan an…

I have recently purchased an '01 Rev-3 and since I am a bigger rider (230lbs/105 kilos) I find myself bottoming out the suspension often, front and rear. Both pre-loads (front and rear) are set to their maximum pre-load as per the manual. So my question is; does Beta or someone else make stiffer springs for my '01 Beta Rev-3 270 forks and rear shock? thanks -PF

  10. I have had the bike for a couple months and really like it. I had a little tip-over on the left side today and when restarted it ran well for 10 seconds then started backfiring violently then stalled. I tried restarting and it kicked back hard several times but never fired up. It acted like the flywheel key was sheared but upon disassembly was fine. Does this sound like the ignition module? Thanks for looking.

I have a 03 Beta Rev3 and if I blip the throttle in neutral the engine revs take forever to climb. The bike has got the white throttle tube, so it's not that. Plenty of compression - I even struggle to kickstart it with all my 75 kg sometimes (could this be a sign of something wrong?) Starts easily though with choke on and idles well once warmed up and the choke off. New spark plug set to 0.6 mm. New fuel mix. Cleaned out the carb. I took it to the local Gasgas agent (just because he is close by) who said "that's just the way they are". I compared my Rev3 to a 06 Gasgas Txt 280 and the Gasgas is soooooo quick to rev! Is this Just the way the older Betas are?

I am hoping to once again receive some valuable insight to a problem I am having. A friend of mines' '03 rev-3 is dieing on him. If the bike is ridden non-stop for over an hour or so it will just die. No spark. Let sit for maybe a half hour or so..... it will start. This is a sporadic problem, not consistent. But continues to happen. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Greetings All, I posted a message last December about selecting and buying an '04 Beta Rev3 270. I have put a lot of time on it since, and I thought I would post an update. I still absolutely love the bike and I am certain I made the right choice. If you did not read or remember the previous post, I started out on an '87 Beta (9 years old). Then I bought a '96 Techno (1 year old). I competed on the Techno for 4 years. In 2000 I bought a new GasGas 280 for my 14 year old son (bit of a story there). He rode the High School class at the US nationals and the US Youth Nationals on it. After that season, he lost interest in trials. I then had 2 bikes in the basement. A 5 yea…

Is it worth the extra money for an '08? I there any difference besides the carb and plastics? It may be worth it for resale value alone. Anyone out there who's had both I'd like to hear from you. Or should I buy a an '06 Sherco at half the price? I don't have long to decide. Thanks, Neil King

  16. Just got an '07 Rev3 250cc and have noticed the revs are taking way to long to drop when I let the throttle off making it really noisy and pretty unpleasant to ride :-( The bike sounds very much like a 2-stroke motocross bike being ramped around?! (not good) I have another thread with some general questions about the bike but i think this problem needs looking at in depth. Someone mentioned either crank seals (allowing air in) or idle set too high, i've turned the idle right down and still have the issue so is it likely to be crank seals? If so, whats the score on changing those, any guides around? While we're at it, I don't have a handbook and can't find one to downloa…

I know it sounds a bit of a dopey question, but can someone tell me how the choke operating mecanisim works on the '08 Beta's? There's a knurled screw that seats when wound in (clockwise) but can then be turned anti clockwise forever! I could fiddle and work it out for myself, but it would be nice if a current owner would just be kind enough to tell me? Thanks

Does anyone out there know the clearance spec for an 2008 Beta Rev 4T? It is time to adjust the valves and I can not find the clearance specification. I have also noticed that when low on fuel in the tank the bike may suddenly stall. As soon as I top the tank up this glitch goes away. Anybody else notice that?

So today, whilst on a training day (typical), I dropped the bike and the clutch hose sheered off at the reservoir on the handlebars. End of training day and an early lunch! I'm trying to source a fix before the weekend, I see that the Rev3 <06 are listed as different to the 07 and 08 - and everyone is out of stock of the 07 and 08! Does anyone know if an Evo one might fit? Alternatively, I've though about trying a repair with a compression type fitting on the end of the existing hose if I strip the braiding off but I don't know what the size would be called (M10...something?) Would be grateful for any info from anyone who knows, thanks.

OK I'll admit I'm out of my depth on this. A buddy of mine has an '08 Rev4 factory bike. Supposedly only one of 15 built that year and one of only two in the US. it's never run quite right so it has sat for a few years with the intention of getting it back to proper ridability. I've offered to help cleanup the carb. To a dyed in the wool two stroke guy this carb is a little disturbing but this is how I learn so... Any recommendations where I can find manuals, exploded diagrams and such for this carb. I've been to the usual Beta sites and have the Beta manuals but there are some rather large gaps in the information. I was also wondering if anybody has drilled out the pilo…
