I am the Membeship Secretary for the Stratford-Upon-Avon club and one of our members has recently had a problem with his affiliation renewal and I thought that I'd maybe jog some memories It turns out that; through a genuine mistake (not the riders!) his application form wasn't processed by the ACU as it had not been signed by a club. Well i've been going on about this for ages and some other posts in other categories have touched on it so here goes. The ACU produce a handbook. In that handbook are various rules and regulations pertaining to all the forms of Motor Cycle sport within the ACU jurisdiction. So how come there is such a wide varience in elegibility of the Pre65 bikes and now the twinshock class at Club, Center, National and err Scottish (i'm gonna regret this arent i?) Why is it beyond the power of the ACU not to produce a binding spec for these classes that applies to all events run under the auspices of the ACU? Last year I posed a question concerning one of our events which we were planning to make 'No Inspection Allowed.' The idea was to make the single lap road trial, simple and straight forward and suitable for riders to ride without needing to stop and look at the sections. I've ridden trials like this in the past and really enjoy this style of event. However, at the time I did have concerns as to the safety implications of riding into a section blind; if the worst came to the worst and someone was injured. Hi, I have noticed that some Trials & Enduro clubs operate as a Limited liability company, is there a good reason for this & what are the pro`s & con`s for doing this ? . My local ACU motor cycle club runs both trials & enduro`s but are not a limited club, can anyone shed any light on this. Many thanks

The ACU are looking into making licence (registration) applications easier and putting them online. The one real stumbling block is how club membership secretaries sign the form prior to submitting it to the ACU. Credit where credit is due! I applied for my licence and my two sons licences on the 28th of December and sent off the parental consent form on the same day, I received all three licences back today. Considering the time of year and the number of renewals that must be in the system, brilliant thank you.

Where did that come from??? We now have a Expert List. Expert A and Youth A list and now a three tier Expert B list. Looks like the Gap year was a waste of time.

I've recently heard, from two seperate sources, that the definition of a section boundary is no longer what it was. For ease of example I'll take a single route section, marked with blue on the left, red on the right markers. In the good old days, the blue designated the left hand boundary of the section and the red the right hand boundary. By definition, this meant that the boundary was the invisible straight line between each blue marker on the left, and each red marker on the right. Was out marking sections for next weeks Ladies round today when the subject of next years A/B championship came around, and how living on an Island makes traveling to these event more expensive and time consuming than other competitors. For example last weekend my van clocked up 639 miles going to Scarbrough and back, they left there at 5pm after the trial, 7 hours later they only just got the midnight ferry arriving home about 2am in the morning, both lads were knackered and missed school on monday. It been bad enough having to ride the British Champs under these rubbish rules but now all trials are going to sufferer the same fate! I guess we will see a total demise of the number of riders just like in the British Champs which at the moment isn't even worth the organisers running the entrys are that low. Maybe the only hope is if all the clubs go back to the full no stop rules, that's if there allowed?

As a club secretary I'm trying to do the annual download of unique ACU codes so that members can re-affiliate. 2019 codes now appear to be available when I log on - I'm given the option to download either excel or csv, but when I click on either option I'm met with a blank screen and no download. Anyone else having similar problems?

Youth A + B

TSR8 stipulates that prior to the start of each trial all machines will be examined to ensure that they comply with ACU regulations. In NSR appendix B states; 11 Brakes. Hi. I've recently taken up trials along with my 15 year old son. He fancies a beginner competition - I'm not so sure. We are memebers of a club so - can we just turn up, sign and pay? Or do we need an ACU licence? Any help would be great Chris

Dear john. (sounds ominous) I feel i may have found what could be a problem with our governing body, are you loosing touch with the ordinary motorcycle enthusiast???? I tried to PM you on this subject but your in box was full,so i will shorten and take some details out of my origional note. You seem to equate time riding a motorcycle with the right to an oppinion,I for one would disscount no one from an oppinion. I've checked the ACU site and I've probably missed it completely but does anyone know how to report an injury during a trial? Do I just inform the club that its actually worse than it appeared at the trial or contact the ACU direct? Cheers
