Howdy gang! New guy here, off in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in Wyoming, USA. I recently purchased a 1982 SWM TL320. It has been sitting for some time, and I've begun the process of bringing it back to life. Since people always like photos, here it is: Last night I drained the oil from the transmission, and removed the clutch cover while I was at it, to get a sense how dirty things might be inside. I found oil that clearly had a great deal of water mixed in. Since the bike was running, and I had ridden it a bit in the course of the purchase, the oil and water were mixed into a thick goo that resembled a chocolate milkshake. Good to see that gone! Things were…

Has anyone successfully managed to clean up a plastic tank to its original yellow. The tank has gone a darker yellow over the years, usually due to UV from sunlight, and the replacement new plastics are significantly lighter. Just wondered if there is a tried and proven method for restoring the original colour without making a mess of it. The plastic is baby bum smooth at the moment and I don't want to try any method that will rough it up.

I have e.mailed bikes@forcemotorcycles.com twice for prices, no answer. Is this the correct address ? Any other suppliers ? (Stevens Trials have a few bits, but not what I'm looking for.) Thanks Ross

Hello Please apologise for my bad english! I once heard that top level 320 SWM riders lightened the weight of their magnetic wheel for 0.800 kilos. I just reduced mine for 0.450 kilos, and at first glimpse that gives to me a good feeling: I'm driving much more a trial bike than a tractor. But I'm wondering: must the ignition advance be modified? Thanks Nicolas

I have a newer style clutch cover with the larger actuator balls I would like to install on my 1980 SWM TL320. I would like to see if it does pull a little easier and my original cover has a small crack in it and needs repairing. I also have the newer pressure plate. Do I need anything else? The hub from the ATK (Rotax 244) parts book has a different part number than the older style SWM. Will I need to change that too? Thanks

(No, not that sort) Any information on the modifications that quite a few SWM's seem to sport ? Are they all home grown, or is someone making them. What are the advantages ? The following picture is from the "CampoCanavese2012" (thanks Mike) Ross (Dannilo Galeazzi's bike)

This subject was raised some some three years ago and to be fair opinions shared. Given the time frame I wondered if these we still valid. I have a red and white Guanaco with the mazocchi set up. Whilst its alright, they do tend to be very soft even after changing and playing with the springs. I have a nice pair of late betors including yokes / tete de fourche and my French guru is trying to convince me to go down this route. Some mentioned on the previous thread that all the works bikes had married the Mazocchi yokes to betor forks and I have since seen this recently on a very nicely prepared Belgium bike of Michel Gossiaux, again his name was mentioned in the previou…

Hi all , Am going to ride the TL 320 this weekend as was wondering which fuel oil mix to use, as i haven't riiden a twinshock for about 15 years. I will also be running the engine in for the first couple of hours of riding. I was going to use fully synthetic at 50:1 with super unleaded , i have been told to use semi synthetic at 40:1 also with superunleaded as its an older air cooled machine. I am not interested in the different oil brand debate , i just want to know what mix is best. What do you think?

As above, the exact colour or colour code for the SWM frames still eludes me, I was told the Subaru WRX blue (code 02C) was a close match, and indeed it is close but still not close enough for me. I know I'm being pedantic here, but since I've started paint stripping my Jumbo which was obviously re-painted in the wrong shade of blue by a previous owner (refer attached pic), I have found traces of the original slightly metallic and darker blue underneath and it's not quite the same as Subaru WRX blue. Any advice appreciated. Also still chasing info on my previous post regarding seat/tank/shroud arrangement.

Hi , i am halfway through re-packing the mid box and seperate silencer on my TL 320 . Have cut open the mid box and de-coked it ,re-packed it and am going to weld it up -ok. I have now cut open the back of the rear silencer (the side that usually rubs on tyre) to find that inside it only has baffle plates and no core or packing- Can anyone please tell me if this is correct and should it have cores/packing and has anyone re-packed theirs? Thanks

There seems to be almost no information out there concerning proper setup of twinshock trials bike suspension. With vintage motocross bikes ,suspensions(spring rates) are usually setup by rider weight and ability(speed). What is the best way to determine proper/optimal spring rates and damping on a vintage trials bike? I ride a 1980 SWM TL320 and weigh 235 lbs. . The bike has the original fork springs and works performance shocks put on by the previous owner(weak springs). Seeing as these bikes were designed and the suspensions setup for light riders like Schrieber and Burgat, the stock fork springs and shock springs certainly must be too light for heavy riders. Any thoug…

I competed in my first trial last weekend on the TL320. I managed to make a grand mess of the event, and found that I killed the engine in nearly every section. Never had that problem in all my practice on level ground, but there was little level ground at the trial! A couple of the old timers suggested that I lower the gearing on the bike. Several people independently commented that the bike seemed to be geared rather high. Since my existing rear sprocket is looking well-worn, I suppose this is a good time to consider a gearing change. So what gear combinations work for those of you competing on TL320s?

Does anyone know how to wire a cut out button on the TL 125? The wires to the coil end in a multipin connector with no obvious way of introducing a wire. Any advice appreciated as, apart from the stuck throttle scenario, I'm getting fed up stalling it every time I want to walk a section.

My old friends riding veteran mx and enduro on international level are using the Spanish developed HFS parts for their front forks with very good results. If you look at their web (www.suspensionhfs.com/en) there are some trials kits, too. Has anyone tried them out?
