OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by Oded,

replaced the stock Oset 24r controller with a different model. installed potentiometers on the throttle's +5v and ground wire, and tweaked them until I managed to tame the acceleration to my liking, and vanish the dead band of the throttle, when applying power. measured the max amp draw at full throttle from stand still on a high traction surface (no wheel spin) - 55 amps. is this reasonable for this model? too low? too high?

Hi, Could someone confirm if this is the temperature sensor that needs to be disconnected that will stop the power limitation feature ? ive looked at the pics on the oset website and it doesn’t look like the connector shown, but neither do the others ! thanks

Hey, I am looking to update my kid’s 12.5 Oset to the next (16) size. I hope this is an okay subforum to post this question. Anyway, I initially was looking for the Oset 16 bikes, but then I noticed there are some alternatives. Beta has their minitrail, Mecatechno has something. Maybe some more alternatives. My question is, how do they compare to each other? Here, where I live Oset is for sure the most popular, but a few hundred more expensive than Beta is (new), Mecatechno not sure is available locally. As far as I understand all still come with acid batteries, or are there any that are already with the LiPo available out of the store?

Wondering if anyone can help me. My son has had a oset 20r for a couple of years now which we got second hand, 6 months ago he has blown the motor ( Burning type smell and smoke coming from it) We have been unsure about getting it fixed because of the cost of the new motor. Would this be sellable without been repaired and anyone got any idea of price that we could sell for . It worked fine before this happened and my son has had a growth spurt so no longer any good. It also has the boost battery. Cheers

Been reading the posts I can find about this and see that most are using RC packs in series, which I can do and have done with other electric bike projects. But I'd rather have a pack with a BMS so the cells can be charged and balanced on the bike all at once. What I'm having trouble with is the max volts that the Oset's controllers can handle. Most Lipo or Lithium packs are well above 48v and most peak around 58v and that worries me. All my other electric bike projects have been for 36v and I have sent over 48v to those without issue...but this Oset is a way more expensive bike and I don't want to blow any electronics. Here's the pack I'm looking at, probably th…

I've been researching various lithium (LiPo4) battery solutions for the Oset 16. A cheap alternative I found has been this Eco-Worthy brand which are 12v 10Ah. They are the same size as the stock batteries so I will wire in series to get 36v 10Ah. - On the Eco-Worthy datasheet, what values should I be looking at to ensure the Oset can draw the power required from the batteries? Looking at a total of $189 plus a charger. - Can I use the standard Oset charger designed for lead acid on the Eco-Worthy lithium as it has a BMS installed? This is the data sheet on the Century PS 12100 lead acid battery I'm also considering which is very similar to the stock batte…

  10. Seems my lad was able to dislodge a motor magnet today. The motor is a 36V 900W version. Anyone seen anything like this before? Unfortunately he didn't mention the power change he felt until later and there wasn't any noise so we kept riding for about 10 minutes more. As the pic shows the motor became extremely hot. And amazingly, it still runs. I haven't disassembled the brush side yet. I am curious what the consensus is here. Can it be rebuilt (should it be?) or just replace it. At this moment it seems like a replace to me (I know nothing about electric motors) but I was curious if anyone has been here before. Looks pretty nasty to me. Thanks all for the …

Hi folks, my son was riding is OSET today and it appeared to go into limp mode (no buggy as I thought it had just over heated) but then it started make a funny noise from the motor area...I noticed that the D Link sprocket was slightly loose and wondered if was just that or if it was something more serious. I've posted videos as its easy to understand. Hello, Liking this bike a ton! Has anyone swapped out their stem for something that has a little more rise and a lot less reach? Looks like ~50mm offset and 0 degrees of rise on the stock stem here... this has much less offset, and some rise too... ...enough rise to clear to the blue comp clicker ( I think ) What do you think? TIA

Hi guys, I have just bought a new oset 24r, the standard Sram brakes on my bike are shockingly poor, I appreciate they are brand new discs and pads and will need to bed in, just wondering how long you guys took to get any power in them to pull a stoppie or to generally lock the brakes on? Or if anyone has the same problem or some tips?

  14. I have a Spider 16 which hasnt been used for a long time. Im trying to charge the batteries just to see if the bike actually works as its new to me. I know im gonna have to get new batteries anyway. The charger when connected to the mains just show a green light, the online manual suggests it should be red then green when batteries are charged, this one is green without being connected to any batteries. Any ideas?

Bought an Oset 24.0R to ride with my grandson. Nice and quiet so I can talk to him when he rides. It's a lot of fun but not a replacement for a gas bike. At least not for a heavy adult. i raised the handlebars and put a wider rear tire on the rear. Mostly just to make it look "right".

Hi everyone!! sorry for bother you with this old issue, but i noted that you guys knows a lot about this...i want to upgrade the battery and after reading a lot ...still not sure if my solution it will work....: i would use 4 x High Capacity 20000mAh 4S 12C Lipo Pack.... my questions are: 1.- are they power enough? (i ask, because you explained in other thread that maybe dont release the spected power for a 20r oset) 2.- I 've read a lot about built in BMS...this packs doesnt have built in BMS ....it enough with the charger have some kind of BMS ? (for balance charge, voltage protect etc) or you recomend buy something else for battery monitoring? …

Hi all, Just replaced throttle on late 2013 model because previous throttle kept sticking. Now wondering if we are getting full power that should be available. When my lad tried in the past to pull a wheelie he had to pull on the handle bars like you would on a push bike as well as using full throttle, probably what caused throttle to be faulty. With the new throttle there is no improvement in the ability to pull front end up, this is with speed switch 100%, power dial on full and throttle response dial on full. My lad weighs approx 54kg. We have had the bike a few years and he has used it occasionally often commenting that it wasn't right and now thinking I should h…

  18. Hi all, My lad has the Oset 20.0 and it needs a replacement throttle. Unfortunately I'm unable to locate a new one. There seems to be the earlier version which have two black connector's and the 2014 onwards later versions which appear to have the same connector's as the late 2013 version, although the grips are not the same colour. So can anyone tell me if these later versions will work or if there is another alternative or know of a supplier that stocks the late 2013 version. Many thanks Rob

Hi can anyone help me to understand which bearings would fit the rear of a circa 2010 Oset 16 24v. The rear bearings have just fallen out and they were the semi encased push bike type ones - shot to pieces now. Fell out when i replaced the sprocket and chain. But i would like to know if the current size bearings for a 16 would fit or does anyone know a hack or suitable replacement for the 24v 16. Keen to get the bike running again. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer
