Anyone used anything they've found particularly good to either speed up healing or protect it post healing? Am in my 3rd NHS cast so far and I only broke it on Sat. Am considering and Aircast Wrist Cast Aircast Link but haven't used them before and wondered if anyone found it better. I keep working my cast loose and have a fair bit of thumb movement so its not helping the healing process much. The aircast has a pump option which should keep it fixed. I'm also looking at an Allsports Dynamic Wrist Brace to get me back riding in time for the Scottish AllSports Site and limit the damage so I can continue rehabbing it after. It comes with pins to lock wrist extension which i…

I have included two links below of short videos that I enjoyed. Both are from Japan. The first is a little competition in doing a 'stoppie' in front of a very appreciative crowd. The second video is what happens when you put a trials rider who can do a stoppie into another of type of vehicle and... well you can imagine the rest. Don't try this at home! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok-N3UkGlh8 www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_HDOe_xP00

I believe that Jeremy Magrath (7 time Supercross champion) eats lots of protein, when he can. I've seen Marc Colomer (3 world titles, counting indoors) being fed pasta in a section, by his minder. I believe pro body builders (not sure how relevant their program is to trials success, though) eat protein, protein and one more thing (...oh yea, now I remember: protein!) :-) One poster here said a good BALANCE (good word for trials anyway) between carbs and proteins helped him. I'm about a 40/36/24 ratio of carbs/proteins/oils in my diet. Your suggestions? What's the diet of a pro rider?

I'm having trouble getting this dialled, i always end up with either the not getting the back wheel high enough or when the bach wheel goes a bit higher the front wheel isnt high enough. I have the Ryan Young DVD but finding his technique a bit hard as he talks about a massive upper body explosion of power which i find hard due to a bad shoulder. Watching Dougie do them he seems to hardly use his upper body compared to Ryan, i think Dougie uses his legs more, see here: 3min 36secs http://fwd.five.tv/fifth-gear/videos/other...-dougie-lampkin Anyone have any vids or advice on this.

I posted a message to the thread about the trials practice area at Tonymoto, but the whole thread seems to have disappeared today. Is this more database problems, or should I be looking for black helicopters? Does anyone know what the latest situation is with Tonymoto? Yoyo - your PM box is full . . .

Does an undercut log on a slope (10 to 20 degrees) require a different technique than one on the flat? I struggle with one maybe 18" diameter several inches off the ground. Timing seems difficult and there is a tendency to touch the front wheel and get the bike very vertical. This just results in the bash plate sitting on the log. The odd thing is that bigger more undercut logs on the flat are not so difficult. Other people do not seem to have this same problem. I understand a Jap Zap may be the technique to use but am not that accurate with front wheel placement and stand a good chance of just stuffing the wheel into the bottom of the log. For that reason, the whee…

One of the many techniques that I struggle with is the muddy launch before a hill or obstacle. For example: Sometimes I put it in 1st and feed the power/grip in 'on the throttle'.Body position- down in the frame. Sometimes I put it in second, set the revs and feed the power in using the clutch (mainly).Body position- down in the frame. Sometimes I put it in 3rd and lean right back at WOT (burning for grip?scarey). Occasionally;Throttle on, snapped shut and hope there's enough grip/momentum to get me up. I seem to get very hit and miss with this next one;Any gear 1-3, clutch in, WOT, just as the revs drop feed out the clutch and pause then put a few more revs o…

Hi All, Got talking to a guy in pushbike shop today. He's an old Trials fan but never actually ridden himself. He told me that in days gone by that Trial riders used to fill their tyres one third up with water? ...and that some riders progressed on to using another fluid that would not slosh around so much when they came to a stand still. Can anyone confirm this myth and tell me what that other fluid was?.....I have no plans to do this myself but I am curious to know if it's true. Best of sloshy balance! Neo

I'm not sure if it is from trials but my mid back muscles tend to be tight and sore. It is the area of arching when standing on the bike. These are the muscles just below the shoulder blades. Are there any exercises or stretches that can loosen up this area? The yoga "plow" helps some but not much seems to reach this area.

Thanks to Ham2's post, I found this weight-room video (start of video) of JT training in the gym: If you speak Spanish, the "related videos" on Youtube you'll see could be a gold-mine of riding info. Not sure how good this "Jordi Tarres" bloke is however, but he looks pretty good (almost as good as me) in those videos. We have a kid's video and it shows Bill Markam stretching his neck (among other areas) since "helmets are heavy". My question is: how important, if at all, is training or stretching one's neck for trials? Also, what exercises do you guys recommend for this? I train at a gym, but have never done neck exercises.

It's all too brief but here is some footage of JT in the gym (mainly flexibility drills) There are links to all the various parts of the original video...another occasion where I wish I could speak Spanish.

Ok I know this is going to be hard to believe but I have to say, I have no experence with trials. I have road raced a Ducati , spent many hours in the woods and a few MX tracks with the Husky, but other than loading my 93 or 94 Gas Gas I have no expernece and need a suggestion on where to start. Any thoughts... Cheers, Mike

Had my first ever run on Saturday, and great thanks to Derek Ramsey who was kind enough to take me out, show me a place to practice, and also teach me some basics. Much appreciated! Great fun, and a bl88dy good challenge, just what I was after. A few aches and pains after a couple of hours on the bike, but I was only doing some basic stuff. I'm used to a road bike, where I'm looking well ahead and using peripheral vision for road surface changes closer to me, etc, and also looking where I want to go which is the best advice I was ever given for the road. In general in Trials where should I look - at where I want to go, or in difficult situations where the front wheel is…

I have seen ideas for off the bike balance exercises. However, has anyone tried a non bike related exercise to improve timing? timing...as in a double blip with unload over an obstacle. It is one thing to know what needs to be done and another to time/ coordinate those activities together.
