Part 3 in my micro series. Clutch and throttle cameras synced to maybe give a better idea about timing. Obviously not much going on with the clutch in a Double Blip. This clip I've tried to show the difference in reaction when the back wheel hits with throttle on and off - it's perhaps a bit subtle, but it should give the idea I think. Throttle on and the bike jumps much more, not as smooth rolling over. Don't take what I offer as reliable knowledge - I'm just a dabbler of little real skill!

hey folks, Im not sure if anyone is gunna be able to explain in text but... Im trying to master turning in tight space by lifting up the rear wheel and turning the back of the bike left or right, There was a guy up killkenny where i practice who did show me but i still cant do it, He says about compressing the rear shock using clutch front brake etc, then lifting bike moving hips etc etc, but i can only swing it about 10 inch and i always loose balance and dab my foot down! If you can explain how you do it then it would be a great help!

Hi guys, I'm in a weirdo balance situation. I can balance with engine off on concrete with race tyre pressures with one and even with no hands but when I'm riding I just don't seem to have all that balance. So what might be the deal? Concentration issues? Also I train on a daily basis with a wobble board and a trials push bike. Cheers

Hello everybody. I ride about 6 months and get some skills in splatters, jap zaps and rear/front wheelie, but i still have problems in positioning myself on bike while doing that. Problem is in my foot and rear brake pedal. I dont know how is right, but i often hold my toe near pedal not above it and when i bend knees before jump i have more movement of my toes. But!.. When i need to use rear brakes i do not have my toe on the pedal cause cant instantly react in a split second and put it on the pedal, so im making dubs or rear wheel becomes front wheel with bike upside down Not cool! Do i need hold my foot while jumping on the pedal or what? Im just exhausted already…

Have you had any 'a-ha' moments when riding, like you've figured out something big? I've had a few in my two years of riding - I'm at clubman level now, so I thought I would share and hope others can share similar discoveries that made a big difference to their riding. 1. Unweighting the bike. It dawned on me that these bikes can go over just about everything, it's pulling us fat lugs over the obstacles that upset the bike. Unlike MX where you charge at everything, trials is generally about either getting your body over an obstacle and then pulling your bike with you, or letting the bike get onto something by unweighting yourself from it and then once it's on there, p…

Hi, I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of the correct posture on a trials bike. Obviously, your going to be more bent over and cramped on the bike if your 6 feet tall than if your 5 feet 6. But yet I never see any raised bars on trials bike. I have a Cota and am 6 feet tall. I recently finished a long trial with an rally between zones which was about 36 kms between the sections. I was dead from being bent over so long. Any Hints, tips on the desired posture?

I've been riding bikes for a loooong time and It was always a crime ( or a call to the hospital ) to use the clutch when going down a steep hill, followed the same rule with the 75 TY that I've been riding the last 10 years. I bought a Beta Rev this summer and use the same technic, but it seems that modern bike riders use the clutch in steep descent, am I right ? Guy

Hey, All!!! Decided I'd have my daughter video one of my little practice sections at my home. After watching it, I'm kind of ashamed of how poorly I ride. If you folks see something that you can point out to help a Novice/Intermediate level rider to improve, please send the help in a post. I caught my front wheel essentially just "skimming" right over some of the contact points on the log (i.e., didn't hit the front wheel where I wanted to....). I also seem pretty stiff, and don't seem to bend my knees enough. And I haven't a clue how to fix these problems..... I really want to improve my level of riding. I want to get the fundamentals down well first, and figure other …

Hi All I am a 58 years old average trials rider...been riding off and on since 17. Now I generally ride once or twice a month on a Beta Rev 3. But about a year ago in a trial suddenly suffered from severe cramp in the right hand/wrist when exiting a section, instant full throttle action!! Thankfully I use a lanyard cut out so no great drama's. Although surprised a few spectators and especially me! Completed the trial but had to rest the wrist/hand before each section..although a couple of 3's resulted from complete lack of confidence. I think it is partly psychological now but seems to be getting much worse, because of that I am gripping tighter,…

Well Ive been in the back yard trying to balance again just static engine off. Not had bike long and new to trials had bike about a month now not had to much time to practice but tried balancing quite a bit. Does it drive everybody mad at first. everybody I see makes it look easy. Is it just practice ? somedays I just can't get it at all just a couple seconds somedays a little longer. Am I just been hard on myself ?

The bike that is :-) Due to my hands not being that big I find it much easier to hold the clutch and brake levers with 2 fingers. However a friend who has been riding for years said I will get better control if I just use one finger. Do I need to try and train myself or doesn't it matter? Thanks Pete

I just moved up a grade and things are a little tighter now. One area where I need improvement is front wheel lifts with little or no approach. I have no problem with wheel lifts when I have a comfortable run in, but when there is little or no room, I just "cant get it up" (he he). I am also progressing well with double blip - but again - only when I have a nice amount of room for the approach. Currently I dont use the clutch for front wheel lifts. I do the basic compress, blip, pull back. I have been told I need to add the clutch pop, to help with wheel lift in short approaches. So two questions: (1) can I get a couple of "simple old guy learning ne…

Just fitted 35mm bar risers to the Beta. Wow what a transformation, the riding position is great for an old codger like me with short arms. feel alot more confident with most of my weight on the pegs and less on the bars. Far less tiring, can recommend this mod to anyone with a back twinge. tom,
