Gas Gas

I was out today on my txt pro 300, not had it out for 3 week, it started fine, then started to cut out, it would slowly die and flood, it would start up and be fine then do it again. I took the carb off (with the limited tools I had) everything looked fine, put it all back and put in a new plug. Fired straight up and did it again. Any ideas lads?

IMPORTANT! ALL "06 PRO OWNERS!! 24 Mar 2006 ALL "06 250/280/300 AND 125 Racing MODEL PRO CUSTOMERS WITH THE "SILVER OHLINS SHOCK" We have now had 7 x "06 ohlins shocks lose their damping. This is un-heard of with Ohlins but we have sussed the reason why; The 'service screw' on top of the shock is VERY close on some bikes to touching the frame. Because the topbush is rubber, under heavy use, the bush flexes and then the screw is damaged, then losing all the nitrogen. All "06 BIKES MUST BE CHECKED! Take off your airbox and you'll see the screw on top of the shock. If your screw has been touching then you need to; 1. Grind the frame away a little to give more cle…

Hi all, After twiddling my thumbs for an hour or so this evening, I thought I'd be a model citizen and change the gear oil in my bike. I've not had it that long, so this is the first time. I went and bought some Castrol ATF Dex III "transmax" advanced performance series oil (?). Assuming this is the same Dextron III everybody on here talks about? I drained the fluid and what came out kind of looked like baileys / chocolate milk. I'm not sure this is a great sign . As i had no idea whther ATF is a delightful milky brown by design, I poured a little drop into my drain tray so i could see the colour... its red... more worrying is the fact that when it mixed with what …

I have posted about this problem before in the past however I have tried a few solutions to no avail and wanted to give people an update and hopefully get some fresh idea's... My bike is a 2008 Gas Gas 300 and a strange clutch problem started happening a while back.... When the clutch is under load the clutch slowly starts to bite more and more (resulting in me having to pull the lever in more and more until it is against the bar and the clutch is fully engaged and the bike is driving forward) To try to explain it more clearly here is where its giving me problems.... lets say I have a very small run up to a rock and I have to put the front wheel against it. to balance…

This bike is starting to really get on my nerves. 2003 250pro mint condition and a joy to ride when I can. Rode it last night all was great, just up and down the road to check it out. Loaded it up this morning at 6.30 am and all is great, Drive 35 miles unload and get ready to ride and the "swear word" gear lever has gone awol . During the obvious extreme loads placed on it whilst on the trailer it fell off. Unlike most bikes there is no retention groove in the gear shaft so if it comes at all loose it will just fall off. Considering I rode it last night it certainly was not obviously loose. After all the weetaking about the smart bike I can't ride I had to just pack up …

Hi GasGas people can you help, A mate of mine has just bought a 50cc Gasser 05 model for his young 'un. He has been told by an unreliable source that he can convert the clutch action from semi-auto to some sort of manual arrangement just by adding/removing a clutch plate??!! I know it's a bit vague but does anyone have any experience of this..all replies welcome. Cheers !

Hi. I've just bought a 2002 txt pro and I'm having problems starting. It is getting fuel and has a spark (though looks a little weak). It is difficult whether hot or cold, and there does not seem to be a pattern to it. Best so far seems to be a few kicks with choke on, then an open throttle kick with choke off. Normally takes 10-20 kicks either way. I've cleaned carb, changed air filter, checked grounds, stator gap. I'm about to strip top end and check rigs etc, but compression feels fine (too much if anything)! Any other suggestions appreciated. Also just drained coolant and it is a light brown, with a greasy feel. Is this just very old coolant of a sign of oil co…

over the past 18months of owning a gas gas every time i remove the airbox becomes a struggle to get the damn thing back on, the reason being is the rubber ring around the carb to the airbox, it doesnt seem to be long enough, ive rang gas gas and they said they have never changed the design! the only way i can get it to sit on is by placing the rubber ring inside the airbox tube half way on a slight angle, then put the carb into the recess in the bung, but once i start to tighten a jubilee clip around it the ring starts to come away from the airbox tube! to even get as far as the above i need to slacken off the manifold on the other end of the carb and have that not sit…

Heya I'm hopefully going to be getting a new TXT 300 soon. I'm sure I will be too heavy for the standard springs as I weigh 90kg to 98kg (without gear) depending on the season and how much junk food I've been eating . Lewisport do a 10% and 20% stiffer than stock set of fork and shock springs. I'm thinking the 20% stiffer springs would be the right ones, whats your thoughts? (on the springs not my diet!)

Hi All, I'm thinking of buying a new 2011 gas gas and can't make up my mind which one to go for, 280 or 300. I liked the power of my 09 evo 290 and 2011 sherco 290 and didn't find them a handfull at all so i'm not interested in the 250, i like bigger cc bikes generally. I don't know why gas gas make 2 x bikes with the cc so close, (280 & 300). Has anybody riden / owned both and what are the plus & minuses about both bikes?? Any info greatfully received. Thanks.

  15. Hi All, Was getting my stuff together this morning to go off for a ride and noticed that the bike was a bit wet. Having started the bike, there was definitely a flow of water coming from the cooling system. It appeared to be coming from rad, but I couldn't really see whether it was actually the rad or one of the connecting hoses. The bike has overheatted (blown out steam) twice fairly recently. In both cases I killed it straight away and let it cool down, checked / added coolant as required and it was ok again. I'm guessing if there is a leka in the system it makes sense for it to boil over? So, can I repair the rad (with rad weld or something similar) or am I looki…

This is not having a go at Gas Gas its more of a survey for my own curiosity. I was just having a think and I do not know of any Gas Gas pro above 125cc and over 3 years old that has NOT had to have its gearbox rebuilt. For some reasons 250s seem worst affected and I know 3 of these that have had to have he gearbox rebuilt twice before their fed up owners sold them Am I alone in my observations or is gearbox failure as common as it seems to me? Cheers

Hi, I've just bought a 2009 280 Eco. Now I don't have any trials experience but as in browsing the net doing research I've noticed there is not much aftermarket support compared to what I'm used to for mx and street bikes. So what do you guys do to these things to trick em out? Ti exhaust? Suspension? Wheels? I've heard the Eco is a bit heavier than the pro so just wondering what could be done to get it closer to the pro.

Hello, first wanted to say what a great site. I picked up a 2009 Gas Gas 300 TXT Pro as my first trials bike and having a blast. though I am trying to work out the carb settings....it seems to smoke more than I think it should, at least compared to my other other 2 bikes(KTM and YZ125) and seems to be using more fuel than what I expect. Just playing around the yard with 1/2 idle and 1/2 clearing it out with modest throttle( no more than 1/2 throttle) it seems to burn about 40oz of fuel in a 15-20 session. it has plenty of power. I am at 350ft above sea level and has the following settings which is how I received it: Dellorto Carb 118 Main, 35 Pilot, D3…
