Bultaco

This is my second Spanish bike and both of them were from the same era, i.e...1960's. Both had the same problem with the swingarm...I could not get either one off the bike. My Montesa (Implala 175) appeared to have rubber bushings around some sort of metallic bushing and the bolt simply could not be persuaded to release from the bushing. So I just left it. What I ended-up with was some additional suspension offered by the rubber bushing which was firmly welded to the metallic bushing and to the swingarm body itself. As I go through this 151 Sherpa I am seeing some things that are unusual. Trying to sort out the wheat from chaff if you will. Pretty much have it all figured out except the swing arm. I can’t tell if it’s a stock piece or an aftermarket accessory or a factory modified unit. It has plates welded to it to allow you to change shock positions. It certainly appears to look professional.

hi guys i have a bultaco 221 175 , the swinging arm spindel was ceased to the bushes and had to be cut out.The bushes were the rubber type, i have removed the rubber but there seems to be a thin metal bush which the rubber was atached to still inside the swining arm.Can anyone tell me if i have to remove these to fit new bushes and also what bushes to replace old ones

Hey guys, I just picked up my first bultaco a model 115, 74 Alpina 250, and am having a heck of a time locating some rear brake shoes.... If any body knows of a source for these in the U.S. please let me know. I wouldn't even mind if they are used, lol!!! on a side note how do you verify proper gear and primary case oil levels (there has got to be a way other than drain and measure, ?? I hope....)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me more specs of the Tail Light Bulb (Part No. 26.21-047) used on a 421-048 style tail light. I currently have a single filament bulb. The only time I can make the bulb light up is when I close the hi-beam switch. I am wondering if it is supposed to be a 2-filament bulb. If possible, can you give me a more commercial part number rather than a Bultaco serial number for the proper bulb. If the part numbers referenced above are not factory part numbers then reference the Bultaco.com website and service manual for details. Thanks

hi all ive just got a new plastic tank. and was adviced not to put decales on as they come off when you put fuel in the tank is there any way round this? ive got the round badges was told they are ok because they have foil backing. any help would be greatfull

Guys, can I ask a really simple question. How is the rear of the tank for the 159 onwards, alloy or plastic secured to the frame, is it designed to just be held in place by the seat and the single bolt at the front through the headstock?

Hi, Iv’e been recommended Caswells tank repair kit from the guys at inmotion can anyone tell me where i can get it from please? in the uk, iv’e found surface monkey but the smallest size treats 33 litres at £60 iv’e only got a 6 litre tank

...I've decided to get on with sorting my M49 fuel tank just in-case it is slowly dissolving from the inside Question is....what is the BEST tank sealer to use? What have you lot used? What's the simplest to use? Notice I didn't mention the price. I'm thinking that these tanks deserve a decent job so I might it even paint it after it's sealed which should gime me the incentive to crack on with the rest P.S I've done a fair bit of homework on this and I'm leaning towards caswells, I just wondered what you guys have used and your experiences on the actual process. ...Also wondering where i actually get these type of things from/

When looking through posts here in the Bultaco section for information on availability of a bearing kit to fit taper roller head bearings to the Bultaco Sherpa 199a I saw Pyramid parts mentioned as a supplier but when I contacted Pyramid they had no knowledge of the correct bearings or the part number. Presumably the taper roller conversion is a satisfactory improvement. Does anyone have any info on the bearings or a part number for Pyramid please?

Would anyone have the Bearing number for the Tapered Roller Bearing for the Sherpa Stiring Head? I know they are available from the eminent supplier of all things Bultaco. However they're are a number of very good Bearing suppliers on my doorstep here in Dublin which will save me a lot of hassle.

You've bid on that twinshock, sometime on Sunday evening, with assistance from a nice glass of wine and a loosened finger on the mouse button. Anyway, went round to see Gavin (read more here) and his latest acquisition, what he thinks is a 1971 Model 80 Bultaco. The recently finished Montesa 247 looks concours, but this might be more of a challenge. All other horror stories or comments on the Bultaco welcome :-)

Hi: As many of you know, the last years of Bultaco, the factory was in the hands of the workers unions operating as a cooperative. Production of the 199B models was very chaotic and nobody is sure which frame numbers really are the first and the last, being the last, most probably the last bike ever produced in Bultaco. With a group of friends we are trying to find the latest Bultaco 199B number we can, actually doing a research in facebook and Spanish forums. The latest frame number we have documented at the moment is JB-19914920-B Maybe you have a later frame number? Please let me know!

Just took possession of my new 199B project today. Always had an itch to scratch when it came to the 340, 6 speed Sherpa's. So after nearly a quarter of a century "looking out" for one, I need look no longer. Yeah, there is lots to be done, but heaps of new ideas to try out. Electronic ignition, Dellorto or Mikuni carb, what suspension set up will I go for etc, etc..... Will keep you all updated on here on my progress
