Bultaco

Hi, i'm new to the forum and as of last sunday the proud owner of several boxes containing most of a 1977 Sherpa t350 ( 191 ).The first question is what colour should it be? The Tank is red and the frame is silver but the fork legs and airbox are blue.The bloke i got it from had bought a pair of sherpas with his mate from the same man and had one each.Mine has matching numbers but i know the engines were in the wrong frames when they got them so its quite likely the other bits were mixed up too. The frame number is JB-19100600.Any help would be appreciated.

Just thought I,d try to start a new thread where people could show what they have been working on to keep these great bikes alive and well or even improved. I,ve been working on my brothers bike and had troubles with the rear motor mount that I posted in another thread.The repair job that Larry (lbhbul) did to the motor mount has it in and the swingarm tight with nice free movement.I had to make a mudflap for the new airbox and was nervous about drilling holes for it and for the rubber boot to carb mounting plate. I haven,t been able to work on it too much,but here is whats been done so far with hopefully more progress this weekend.

Hi, I have a Alpina 350cc M138. I have recently drained my gearbox oil. I have the Hugh's Manual and it specifies to use SAE 90. I was wondering what you use and recommend? Also, I am using SAE 30 for clutch oil, good?

Hello, I'm just returning to owning a trials bike after a gap of 30 yrs or so! Yesterday I bought a Bultaco that has also been away from the sport for a similar amount of years. The bike has frame number B 9202989 and engine PM9101464. The frame has the aluminium bash plate instead of bottom tubes. The tank and seat/side panels are one piece molded with ribs on the side panels. I'm not too worried if the bike is a bitsa but would welcome any info on what I've bought.

I have inherited a Bultaco engine with the number RM-19802534-A. It is a 250 engine but I have no idea if the 'RM' at the beginning of the serial number has any significance. Any help would be appreciated!

My friend dug this out of the back of his garage and wants to know more about it.... There were only very few bultacos out in the whole of east Africa, possibly less than 5!

I have a 71 model 49 and it has been restored at some point. Is there a difference between a model 49 and a Sammy Miller replica or is it just the sticker on the side cover? Or were all the early model 49s SM replicas? I see Sherpa Ts for sale claiming to be SM replicas and asking allot of money for them but how would a person be able to tell? Any specific frame or engine #s? Thanks Sam

Just picked up a bultaco,on the log book it says its a 325cc 1973 the frame no is B92016** the engine no is M92017** its got a all in one tank/seat unit in red which makes it what model ??? thanks .

Hi all new to the forum just bought a bulltaco Sherpa T 350. But not really sure the frame number is B- 8002881 engine number is M- 8002922 Hoping someone could help identify what model I have Greg

Hi, finally got my dad to give me his old bultaco. I'm going to start to restore it but was trying to figure out what exact model and engine it was? The numbers in the motor are JM-18800129

Looking at a Bultaco for sale locally, seller not clued up so can any one identify the model? Cheers John.

Just added a fine running 199A to collection of trials bikes. I'd like to update this one without going too crazy. I will be riding it here in the USA in vintage and AHRMA. I really don't think any modification is needed to be competitive but in reviewing the forums, the following modifications look interesting to me. Move foot pegs back and down. Modify the handle bar mounting to eliminate the "tiller-effect." Add needle bearings to the clutch actuator to improve action. I'm looking for opinions on these modifications and any recommendations on others. Thanks.

Hi, I am continuing with rebuild of M-80 engine and would like to know types, quantities and sizes of seals required when replacing both outer casings. There is also a fibre washer to fit behind clutch arm stem on casing (missing when stripped down) is it a standard size? When I reassemble is Blue Hylomar ok instead of paper gaskets? Cheers

hi all whats the best size spocket to have on me 199A? i curantly have the standard 39T rear and the 11T front. ive not done any trials since i was at school. that was along time a go ah. will the ones ive got on now be ok for a beginer?

Having never rebuilt a bultaco I thought it might be prudent to ask some experts for any insight or advice..my recently acquired 27 is running pretty good right now but looking forward to a restore later in the year (hopefully after riding it this summer) .transmission seems fine and no undue low end noises so I'm hoping to just refresh top end, clutch and seals..compression is about 120..little low? Of course I realize that I'll know more when I get into it but thought id go ahead and start looking for some parts.. I've read where primary chains last and last...but should I go ahead and change it while I'm in there? Thanks!

Hey all, Just wondering if anyone knows what type of rear hub this is in the picture. It isn't like any Bultaco one I have seen before. They are the wheels from a Sammy Miller frame with a M49 engine. Rims seem to be the Bultaco shoulder type rims. Thanks for any help...

A friend has a tatty 340 6speed Bultaco in his shed. Runs,a bit scuffy says gears and cluch OK. Wheels look newish. Anyone care to hazard a guess at a value as he wishes to sell it?

Hi, there seems to be many opinions on this,I am just wondering what you use. I know that I always used filter oil on my motocrossers but others used 2 stroke oil engine oil or gearbox oil. #What do you think? Cheers

hi all dose anybody know the off set off the rear wheel on a 198A? also can anybody recomend a good wheel builder i need the hub relining. cheers bondy

Got a set of stainless spokes from Inmotion and i cannot build the wheel same 2 cross patern that was the way it was when i took it apart. They say the spokes are for 3 cross patern . Can any post a picture of 3 cross patern so i can copy. Thank you
