Suzuki/Beamish

Just wondering as i never actually seem to see any Suzuki's especially Beamish Suzuki's being used. Theyre pretty but i assume they are plentiful as you see them on flea bay regularly so why dont you see them in trials? Is it simply because they arent much cop?

Anyone know if you can get a new kickstart or if a kickstart of another bike will fit a 1973 Beamish this isnt my bike and i'm not sure the beamish models were out in 73 so it would be useful if someone could confirm as well, the owner bought it in a box and only has details from the seller. thanks

Hi All, I am looking for advice on the best way to lower the footrests on my 1977 Silver Engine Beamish. Is it possible to buy a bolt on kit,are do you need to cut and weld if so does anyone make brackets ready to weld onto the frame. Thanks in advance

Just got this Suzuki rl250 trials bike, from what i understand it is a 1976 model, the bike has a sound engine and no nasty suprises, only problem i am having is with the front brake, no matter how i adjust the brake it seems to slip under pressure, the shoes seem fine but i have heard the front brakes on these were not great anyway.

I would like to convert the back wheel on my Beamish to tubeless. Has anyone come across a 36 hole tubeless rear rim. Don't mind if its the thick rubber band type that seals the spokes or the later flanged type. New or decent second hand would be fine Thanks

Hi All, I several years ago I recondition my 1975 RL250 Exacta. I didn't get into the engine as it had always started 1st or 2nd kick and seemed to run just fine. Well it is getting noticeably tired and I believe my next project after I get my son's 1977 Yamaha TY250 done will be taking a closer look at the engine. Right now it still starts fine until it gets warmed up and then it not only starts hard but there is no low end whatso ever. I am thinking I definitely need at least to do a top end, bore, new piston and rings and crank seals. That's what I did on the TY without any problems, I figure that will be the least I have to do. I have the US silver engine model. Once I got this project running, I noticed a few things: 1.Bike smokes quite a bit, even at 60:1 mix of MC1. 2.Lots of engine noise. I used some rubber blocks between the head fins. Helped a little. 3.Bike took a lot of warm up time before I could shut off the choke. When I'd try to soon, it just wanted to die. I figured maybe the old carb was bad, so I got a new OKO from Mid Atlantic Trials. Same place I got my 199 carb. Bike still starts second kick and is acting the same. I pulled the head when I first got the bike and found a bad head gasket - replaced it. Piston was shiny new, but I didn't pull the cylinder to check …

Did the early silver engine beamish have different brake shoes to the later black engine models?

Hi everyone I'm new to the site and I just rescued a 1974 RL 250 from a old motorcycle wrecking yard here in Washington state. A little back story the very first dirt bike I bought from a dealer ship was a 1974 RL 250 Exacta that the owner of the Suzuki dealership turned it into a enduro for enduro racing the things he changed were the Tank to a TM tank and put a TM seat on it and he also Put Knobby tires instead of the trials tires. Picked up an old Suzuki Beamish RL250 1979, Black Engine Model and am in process of rebuilding but am having probs with ignition! Electrics not my strong point! Old CDI unit on bike has no 32900 (can't read rest) but I assume it's -30511 and it aint working. Appears to be a Suzuki RM250 unit with brackets bent to get it to fit on frame! According to book mine should be 31900-38020 but I've tried three with their own coils and no spark, so looks like the correct units will not work, got them off ebay as working and I hoped that at least one of them might be working but there is a chance they could all be kaput of course! Hi Can anyone help me with information about the exhaust system on my 1980 RL250? I'm trying to find out if the main box has any sound reducing material inside or is it just an empty box? I have cut open the rear box and found evidence of some sound deadening material, so I will clean it up and re-pack it and weld it up. Regards Phil

Hi, does anyone know where (in the UK ) I can get new headstock bearing races from for a silver engined 250, it had the dynotape frame number many moons ago but that fell off about 25 years ago. Can i use taper bearings ? and does anyone know the size ? cheers Dave
