Suzuki/Beamish

I read somewhere that someone produced some larger serrated footpegs for the RL250/325 Beamish......Does anyone know where I can find some please? The O/E ones are small and very slippery, as my bruised leg will testify

evening guys ive been busy with other road bikes for a while but have just picked up a late 76 early 77 beamish... i have no spark generator is kicking out voltage. so i figure cdi unit is U S or coil pack does anyone know any coil test readings but im leaning towards cdi unit....so... does anyone have any links to tests/repairs for them..? sorry for any typos im using a tiny phone at the moment

After splitting the case to replace the crank seals, I have an extra washer! It's 17 X 33 X 1.5 mm. With a 17mm through hole, I assume it's off the transmission. In reference to fig 8 (Transmission) of the parts manual. The only washers on the parts list are Item 33 a thinner (1mm) washer and item 34 a conical washer are both present. I did not go past the bearing so missing item 16 is ruled out. I can see wear marks on the washer that would correspond to the small diameter portion of the conical washer. When things are installed per the parts manual illustration, there is no slop when installing the cir-clip on the end, and installation of this clip is not…

How much gearbox oil do I need in my beamish (silver engine) The manual states 700cc & the g/b cover states 850cc?

Does any one know where to get bushes for the swinging arm, its the metal elastic type.I am thinking that when the frames were made beamish used what was available like off a car suspension.

I have the US silver engine model. Once I got this project running, I noticed a few things: 1.Bike smokes quite a bit, even at 60:1 mix of MC1. 2.Lots of engine noise. I used some rubber blocks between the head fins. Helped a little. 3.Bike took a lot of warm up time before I could shut off the choke. When I'd try to soon, it just wanted to die. I figured maybe the old carb was bad, so I got a new OKO from Mid Atlantic Trials. Same place I got my 199 carb. Bike still starts second kick and is acting the same. I pulled the head when I first got the bike and found a bad head gasket - replaced it. Piston was shiny new, but I didn't pull the cylinder to check …

What sprocket sizes would you recommend for trials? My bike has 11x43 fitted, but it feels a bit too quick for me in first gear at its lowest revs... I'd like the bike to go slower when things are getting difficult. I'm a complete novice on a trials bike.

Changed my RL250 which was using 40:1 mix to an RL325 which has had rebore, new piston and rings. Should I use same mix running engine in?

Has anyone got a spacer for the non brake side for front wheel or can anyone make one from dimensions of their own, I have either lost mine or didn't realise I had not received it when I bought the suzuki front end. Also has anyone machined off the normal handlebar (i.e. tiller type position) and put clamps on in a more modern position ?

I also have amongst my stuff,a good Suzuki beamish rl325. are they not used much in twinshock trials? Cant find much/any reference on this forum either.... Any views on them anyone? great,crap,whatever??? S.M.

any one out there who can help me im thinking of buying a suzuki beamish sidecar its a genuine one out of the factory whitlock one owner from new and registered but its been stood for a few years in a shed but it runs fine and its all there nothing is missing at all just wondering what its worth and if its a good investment or stay away from it thanks !!

What's the best oil for a 250 beamish? Is ATF ok?

The clutch on my beamish sticks when started from cold, I had another beamish years ago and that did the same (both silver engine Beamish’s) they work fine once warmed up I’ve tried all types of oil without success, is this the norm?

Just removed the stanchions from the sliders of a black engine Beamish (last model) as they need re-chroming. I'm a bit confused at to what I've found, it's the first time I've worked on Suzuki forks. I removed the spring, tipped the stanchion up and out slid the damper rod assembly - surprisingly, there's no shuttle valve assembly like Betor or Marzocchi have, so I checked the manual on the owners club website and that's how they are. There's one thing I can't fathom though. In the bottom of the stanchion is what looks like a bush and it feels pretty solid, as though it is pressed in, picture below (not the best...) I've been offered an old Suzuki rl 250 by a friend, it's been sitting in a barn for 17 years!!!!! yes it actually has been in a barn for that long!!! i don't want it as a serious competitive trialer just a bike that'll do it all if i want? It wants a resto really, but it runs fine it was started last week for the first time since it was parked up by the farmer.. i'm trying to find out what its worth? Hello, Has anybody replaced the leading axle forks on a Beamish/RL with straight forks ? The reason I ask is because the stantions on mine need re-chroming , £200 ish seems to be the going rate , but I have a spare pair of better Ossa MAR & Yamaha trials forks , and several wheels. so would probably only need to buy some suitable yokes that go with the forks that I am thinking of using, to get somewhere near the right geometry. I think I have seen this change from straight to leading axle on some other bikes ( and vice versa) but can't remember seeing a Beamish that has been changed.
