I seem to recall seeing a diagram, presumably from an owners manual, showing the construction of the silencer with regard to changing the end cap from the homologation item to the one normally used, but can't find it on the web. Does anyone have a pic of this to show how the end cap comes off? Having drilled out the rivets, mine seems to be trying to bring the perforated tube with it, ie it's not keen to come off and I don't want to damage anything.

Hi, just bought a 2010 4rt and really enjoying it after always riding 2 strokes. One thing though, im wanting the rear shock setting up prperly as at the minute theres two much sag, is it just a case of winding up the spring to add more preload or has the air valve on the bottom of the shock got something to do with it? not sure what the air valve is for? anyone help me? cheers

Sorry if this is a stupid question Have mont got a 2010 bike on the market ? ... from what I've read there seems to be conflicting story's of what is going on ! If the 4rt does go 'end of life', how long would they support the 4rt with spares ? As i say sorry if this is way out of date in terms of 'whats going down', i've been out but coming back into trials after breaking my leg .. Again ! doing enduro and the 4rt is the bike for me. Anyone know the score with mont ? Cheers all P.S. 4rt - THE BIGGEST REVOLUTION IN OFF ROAD BIKES SINCE UPSIDE DOWN FORKS ! ........ hope the bugger STAYS.

Besides the bold new graphics, does anyone know if the new and improved 2012 airbox can be retro-fitted to earlier 4RT's ?

Wow. I am amazed at the seeming disinterest. First, the mysterious French photos (http://moto-montesa.superforum.fr/t5893-la-nouvelle-montesa-4rt), and now Todo Trial (http://todotrial.com/ttactual/pruebas/presMontesa4RT-2012.htm) appears to confirm the photos as the real deal, and nobody has anything to say?

Today. I change the engine oil and transmission oil together . I notice there is very little amount of transmission oil came out . may be 200 cc. But the engine oil came out 800cc. So i fill new oil in and ride for 1 hour . i found engine oil level increase about 100cc per 1 hour of ride. Transmission side breather hose looks ok ,No oil came out the hose looks clean. Is this the Crank seal problem?

Still can’t lock the back wheel on tarmac. I have: Replaced pads for Apico items Bled system and replaced fluid with fresh Dot 4 (nice place to put the reservoir!) Rubbed disc with wet & dry on a flat surface plate and cleaned with carb cleaner. Pedal seems there and doesn’t pump up but brake is no where as good as my old gas gas (or even older Tiger Cub come to think of it!) Is it new master cylinder or different/longer aftermarket brake pedal time? Any advice appreciated Bruce

Just fitted an hour meter to my 2014. I'm really guessing the hours I do so I thought why not be accurate and not over or under service the bike. I fitted the meter on top of the throttle body for a relatively cool spot. Just zip clipped to the rubber hose nearby so no sticking it to throttle body. That gives easy remove for injector comes out with tank for valve clearance check. The red wire I just inserted up the HT lead sheath and the black goes to an earth. I placed the black wire terminal under the top coil bolt and the hour meter works perfectly. All totally removable in a few minutes. Here is a couple of pics for those wanting to fit one in a hidden spot. Mag…

I've noticed the kickstart lever on my 2014 hits the foot peg if you push the lever down too far!!! I went too far a couple of times and put some marks in the end of the lever so decided to make a kickstart lever rubber until I come up with something better. I used a bit of red car heater hose. The internal diameter pushes pretty firm over the end of the lever and seems to stay on well when I kick it over. It may get slippery in wet conditions but so far seems ok in the dry. I used a Dremel tool to create a few craters for grip and with a wet boot may still grip well enough for a start???? Time will tell but no more hitting ally to steel with the hose on. Does everyo…

Hi Guys, At long last bike has arrived in Oz. Please can someone advise if a tank protector is available for the new model? and more importantly, the bike has been delivered with brake light switch in front and rear brakes, this means not able to adjust the reach on the front lever, the thread of the switch is not metric and is about 8.5mm, completely different to the AJP master cylinder on my 06 bike. So again any clue as to who may stock the correct size adjuster. Thanks in advance, and yes the motor is very different from the 06 model and felt very much smoother and torquey. The suspension still feels very tight and I think needs quite a bit more riding before att…

I was practicing on the above bike (which is fairly new to me) at the weekend. When going down long hills with the clutch out and brakes on, the rear wheel 'judders' as in jumps up and down during the decent. On closer inspection, when I compress the rear suspension and release it, there is no rebound damping. It clonks as it hits the top stop. This bike is in good mechanical condition with little or no free play in the swing arm or rear suspension. I'm assuming I can adjust the rear shock to stop this. What are the guidelines for adjusting the spring tension and dampening and rebound settings on my bike? I weigh 'just over' 100Kg (with my clothes on).…

Just met someone riding who got to look at the new 2014 bikes at a montesa demo. He said he saw Toni Bou riding there and he had a partially disguised 2015 that had 2 spark plugs. Any truth to this? Anyone else seen anything?

Just wondering if folks have been getting delivery of their 2015 bikes yet? Here in Australia we always have to wait for our new bikes but other brands like Gas Gas, JTG, and Sherco have been available for a couple of months now. My Montesa dealer ordered a dozen 4RTs ages ago and paid the factory a month back but they still haven't left Spain for the slow boat ride down under. What gives? The factory has complained that importers and dealers aren't selling enough bikes but it's starting to look like the factory is not that interested in making anything happen. Prospective Montesa customers are becoming frustrated and moving back to other brands. The 2016 bikes will b…

Hi all, I have a 2015 4RT. I ride rocks quite a lot and my bike is gaining scars quite quickly in the shock linkage, footapegs and engine case areas. I know the bike needs a stronger larger sump guard but am struggling to find one that fits properly. I purchased one from H&D, a great bit of kit, but the bolt holes did not line up with my frame, so I returned it. (Great service by the way.) On enquiring with my dealer, he stated that the 2015 bike is slightly different from the pre 2014 bikes and that no one produces a sump guard for it yet. I have enquired with Splatshop but they say the part numbers for the CSP guard are the same from 2005 to 2015 and …

That got your attention :0) what colours do you think we'll get next year? I think it'll be white rear mudguard, white tank and white front mudguard (Honda colours) or white rear, red front and red tank (Montesa) black wheels, silver frame again. Repsol will be factory rep with the wings on silencer and airbox, What do you think? Could also be a Fuji special to celebrate 20 years in the WTC !!!
