Just wondering if its me, both late model trials bike I have owned load up after a few hours of practice. Seems to run fine in the section but taking it for a run down the road in 5 gear it biggins to blubber and act like Im fouling a plug. I notice this at events running between section pushing hard to finish on time she will start act like plugs fouling. Maybe I use to much filter oil. I use racing fuel 80:1 mixture for fuel. These symptons are the same as I had with my previous Sherco! sam

I've noticed that my Montesa 4rt which is new to me has a slack chain. Bike is 2020 but brand-new as previous owner had it as an ornament. I noticed a slight clinking noise when oiling the chain on the paddock stand before my first ride on fri. But on closer inspection I'm wondering is my chain tensioner block upside down. The chain must be making the clinking noise when it catches the frame on the horizontal bottom tube under the swingarm pivot bolt. With the tensioner block in the opposite direction facing up it would raise the height of the chain and solve this issue. Am I right in thinking this is the wrong way round? Surely the factory hasn't fitted it upside down ? …

I am thinking of doing a few upgrades to my 315 montesa. I've heard of a different barrel and head being put on. Boysen rad valve being put in, flat side carb, has anybody done any such upgrades to their monts and was it worth it / how much did it cost. I've put the jitsie shock plates on, different clutch plates. I don't want to throw money at it as its always only going to be an old 315, but I don't ride often now and have got money left over from selling my 4RT. Any suggestions?

Hi I have been to see an o1 mont, looks like its had an easy life and was really keen till he started it, the top end was quite noisey with a vibey whirr noise, is this normal, or piston wear or something more ominous The bike otherwise is nice and runs/pulls well. worst case how much to remedy. Quick reply apreciated thankyou.

Been thinking about trying the bike, (06 4rt), without the middle restrictor in. looks like I won't get it out without wrecking the grey cylindrical seal that sits in front of it though. Looked at the 05 parts list and couldnt see this part mentioned. Are they easy to get hold of? I was also wondering how the restrictor works as it doesn't look like a smaller bore. Does it effectively increase the length of the front pipe at the same diameter and if so what effect does that have. Just wondering if removing it will help torque or top end. Cheers Hoodie.

Does anyone know where I can buy the seat that comes with the 260? I heard that it fits the 300RR and want to use it to access trails by riding on the street and I'm thinking the seat will help keep me from getting stopped, along with the fake lights I will put on.

I have a MH 200 ( orange) and the yokes hold the forks apart at approx. 120mm which does not leave a lot of clearance for tyre. I also have a 249 and they are 150mm. So do I get a different set of yokes then make new spacers for front wheel ( conical hub ) or leave as is. Some one out there has got to have an answer. How did the they cope with lack of clearance in the 80s.

I have my left and right flywheels, not swimming, but there is a lot of oil on them as I turn the crank. If I wipe the oil off its on there again after one revolution. I have recently changed the crank seals, so this seems odd to me. Is this a sign that the crank seal is failing already or is it a possibility that somehow oil is getting through from the gearbox or somewhere else on the primary side? Thanks, Daniel. 1971 247 Cota
