Hi, I've recently bought a 2015 4rt which I'm having a problem starting when cold, once it's warm it seems to start no problem but seems to tick over quite high, could anyone give me any advice on this problem and also tell me what RPM it should run at? Thanks

Hi. Could someone please give me some advice/tips on my First Trials bike. A Montesa 315R cota 97' (i think?) Ive looked up the Frame number (VTDMTO3AOVE) and checked on the http://www.apexmotosports.com/Montesa_Models.htm site and although my bike is styled/coloured like a 2001 model, the front forks and solid discs on mine look more like the 1997 model. So with this in mind i was hoping for some advice on the bike, fuel/oil ratios, good oils to use, any significant modifications i should make etc. I paid

There have been a few questions regarding piston replacement on the 4RT. For info my mate has just stripped his motor that was delivered in April 05 and trialled all seasons from then, we estimate approx trials 500 hrs. This piston measured 76.440mm which is 0.050mm above the specified service limit. Or about half worn. Air cleaner has always been kept cleaned and oiled but otherwise no special maintenance.

Any idea's if you can date a 4RT from it's frame numbers? If so, I presume a bike sold in tale 2009 would have an 2010 vin/chassis number? Any help much appriciated.

Hi guys, yes, I've got problems with a 4rt. Recently bought off a good friend, I have a 2007 repsol with a 280cc kit on it. It was going fine but sometimes very hard to start (and I have got the nak of starting 4rts). The last time she went I simply parked her up (letting her die out without using the kill button, not sure if this has anything to do with it?) and when I went to kick her over, the kick start would not go down. I pushed the bike back to the car and managed to loosen the kickstart, but on kicking it over, she made a funny sucking noise, as if the air was coming back out the air filter, signs of a timing problem? So I took the head off last week to find …

Hello, I have a frame that is supposed to be a Rickman one. It is for a montesa Cota 247 trials bike and is stamped "MONT MK 7 15" on the steering column. Could somebody help me find informations on this frame ? Thank you very much and Happy New Year.

Hi, I have a 2009 montesa repsol and it is "tapping". I have adjusted the valve clearances and checked the cam chain adjuster (which is fine). Even with the tappets set according to the manual I still have much too much tapping from the top of the engine... Any ideas what i'm missing? Cheers Jamie

Heres one for the 4rt knockers and conspiracy theorists; "We offer an exclusive first and only image that exists until the bike to replace the current Honda Montesa Cota 4RT, known in Japan as Honda RTL. The surprise was unveiled a Japanese magazine, of which we have achieved this zoomable image. Although at first glance seems to be no major changes, in fact if you look you will see that the bike is new. Has a new chassis, smaller, with a beam of much smaller section and reinforced with a endiduras in the center for reinforcement. The engine is the new generation of CRF models of "cross" latest model, with a displacement of 300cc and new exhaust. It also incorporates a…

Hallo guys, I have just aquired a repsol 4rt from 2006. Its in sound condition and I have been out on it a couple of times now. I am so happy for it and having lots of fun. I regard my skils as clubman/intermediate and weigh 80kg. I have decided to start tweaking the suspension to get a faster rebound, especially on the back ,where I found it quite slow and un-responsive. I found out it was screwed right in on the highest rebound setting...but didnt really take much notice of the shock itself. It wasnt until I thought of adjusting the preload today that I noticed it has an orange spring with TRP 75-150 written on it. This has got me doubting if it has a Showa shock at all…

  17. So here goes the story. Bike was lightly rinsed with water after riding (with garden hose - to remove chunkier pieces of mud) and later started so it dried out. Then It was stored for a year or so. When I attempted to start it there was no life in it - no spark. All coils were checked via resistance test and were OK (according to values in users manual) apart from pick-up coil which was bad (infinite resistance). Seems like some water came in stator department via hole for breather tube and damaged pick-up coil. But then again bike was never easy to start anyway.. New pick-up coil was fitted but the problem persists, only now it throws spark from time to time rando…

I have a friend in Spain who has a rather special Montesa 349 (see photos below). He would like to know who made the frame, he has a feeling it was an English made item but knows nothing else about it - can anyone shed any light on it?
