4 rt oils and service intervals
I read on a FB group, that an owner never changes the engine oil filter (not once in 10 years of ownership) - but just changes the engine oil, twice a year and gearbox oil yearly He used it for Clubman trials 2-3 times a month and did the airfilter after every event in summer.... and only monthly in winter His bike was fine and just ran ok, for the last 10 years, despite never having changed the oil filter

Reality of 315R ownership
I had a 315R new in 2004 (last of the final batch) and didn't really get with it, so only kept it a year and bought a 4RT which suited me a lot better and still ride 4RT's 4 Years ago I bought a Yamaha TYZ, in excellent condition as I had always wanted one, but never bought one in the 1990's I love the TYZ and for me it's a far better bike to ride in a Trial than my new 315R ever was, I love riding it and it has a certain classic feel to it, whilst still being a good bike to ride It's been modified a bit (Ohlins rear shock/AJP front caliper and some frame mods to improve the headstock steering angles, plus footrest hangers) and now rides as well as my 4RT, on natural sections

Reliable low maintenance bike
Just buy some AJP calipers and master cylinders from the earlier 250 4RT version (2005-2012/13) if you are riding a 260 4RT model Never had an issue with AJP brakes, plus there is a multitude of Nissin options from H&D or that man in Spain, for later 4RT's

Montesa 315R / 4RT rear spokes
Definitely different sized hubs, the 315 hub is bigger than the 4RT one, perhaps why the spokes have different part #
-
Montesa 315R / 4RT rear spokes
I think rear hubs are different between 315 and 4RT i have a 4RT in the garage and a brand new 315R rear wheel too, I will have a look at the hubs

Cleaning bike before transport
Exactly I think it's specifically against ACU rules Very disrespectful to the kind farmers & landowners who have allowed to use their land to ride your bike at a trial Frowned upon by other riders Our club did a trail riding weekend, held at a proper campsite (owned by a very pro biking motorsport owner, who is chairman of a local Trials club, he allows Trials on his land etc) On the Sunday afternoon, some lads from down south, flashy motorhome...........got their pressure washer out, used their onboard water tanks to work the pressure washer and promptly cleaned off their bikes, after the 2 days riding........all over his pristine campsite grass🥵 Guess what? When we asked to use the venue the following year, for the same event...............permission was denied and we were told to FRO - because these muppets had messed up their campsite grass Just don't do it, washing your bike at the event venue is anti-social and plain bad manners

TLR250 Tubeless back wheel
I know a man in England, who could maybe do it....but distance and cost would be prohibitive
-
beta 3004t 2018 rear hub failure
I expect the cause is something to do with a 'lighter' design of rear sprocket that is 'open' between the sprocket fixings, unlike a continuous ring of metal, around all of the 4 sprocket bolts, that features on older bikes

Speedo cable
Is the speedo head, a square digital affair? I think the speedo drive & cable ones (2005/6/7 bikes) had a round traditional mechanical speedo, cable and wheel drive gearbox affair (mine does & in a cardboard box) Later bikes (250's) went to a square digital affair, not sure how it was driven though
-
Day Time Mot
Technically yes, under C&U regs (not MOT) Up until mid 1990's, most Trials bikes came with a speedo (on fork leg) and if you look back on older pics of SSDT, all TY Mono's and TYZ's sported their speedo's

Where to get ‘old style’ (pre 2014) rear mudguard (and decal)
Yep, I prefer the older style (pre 2014) rear fenders, as they had more coverage and I bought a 2-3 plain white ones, when they were £22 new Now I use whatever stickers I fancy Got a few new stickered up new Red genuine Honda rear mudguards too, when they were cheap at £50-£70 new, all in Not paying the £200 sticker prices, nowadays
