  1. After a tough year I wish him all the luck in the world. Good signing for Birks as JR should really be able to promote the brand at the highest level. Looking forward to reading "Ossa wins Scott".
  2. Have to agree the waist height lift shown above is the best thing since sliced bread!!!
  3. In my opinion the TY 250 is perfectly OK with a standard swing arm. I would move the pegs back 1". The TY175 however does need to be lengthened 2" is about right on a standard frame
  4. The early Majestys were delivered with a much heavier flywheel as standard, not sure if this was the case for the very late ones. This solution was aimed at the 320 but also fitted to the 250. If the bike you tested still had this fitted it would certainly feel as flat as a pancake! The optimum solution (in my opinion) is to use a lightened standard if you are looking for a modern response.
  5. I thought Tony Scarlett Snr was the first JCM importer when Jr was the works rider or is it just my memory?

    Yamaha Pinky

Pinkies have disc forks so any modern wheel will fit. The drum from a YZ also works in earlier bikes
  7. No stop worked between 1907 and 1981 (ish) so maybe the wheels turning full circle again. Going to be a real nightmare to lay out sections and observe methinks.
  8. Having ridden with both I much prefer the disc brake, if you can find someone with a pinky try and get a test ride and then make the decision.
  9. we put a 6 mm slice in the top tube
  10. Three options: Buy a Pinkie fork bottom and use any modern disc wheel and caliper. Find a John Shirt casting that converts drum to disc wheel. Buy a complete TYZ front end and fit. Options 1 and 2 allow you to go back to standard drum more quickly if required.
  11. One difficulty is how you define "resemble", is this a silhouette i.e crankcases cylinder and head form, or does it refer to performance which must be similar to when it was new? By the introduction of the word you immediately embark on a fluid interpretation and invite owners to push th barriers as OTF mentioned. Looking at the photo above I would not allow the above bike as it most certainly does not resemble any Bantam I have ever seen coming from the BSA production lines, particularly in the subframe area. Without knowing exactly what else has been done to forks, engine etc I would suggest it is clearly aimed at improving performance way beyond what was avaliable at the time and as such does not resemble a period machine. My Cub is a totally standard machine (with the exception of an alloy fuel tank and TY 175 rear shocks) as I had one as my first ever bike back in the early '70's. It is no where near competitive against todays classics but I love it just the same!
  12. I have had a lug wlded on the ty forks to take the DT backplate.
  13. I thought t went green when you put water in?
  14. The late piston is from a Pinky with the recess. This is the one to buy as it works much better than the earlier
  15. My experience is totally the opposite with TY175 springs. I am a big lad and they are a definate improvement, making the bike feel more modern, when using 7.5W oil. Also I had the same positive experience with TY250 springs.
  16. Chris bruand uses a Fournales rear shock
  17. Majesty 320 lives in Bolton so heat dissipation is not a problem
  18. I have a yellow one, looks much better than standard if you leave the optional seat off, easy to fit, quality, gel coat finish etc is excellent.
  19. I assume the Yorshire screwdriver is the same thing as a Manchester spanner???
  20. I have two fuel tanks with a white discolouration one red and one black. Any tips for restoring to original?
  21. Pyramid parts do quite a few "odd" sizes of TR bearings. Try them or Rex Caunt who is a bantam specialist.
  22. Great result, shakes up the established order with a new bike on top for the first time.
  23. Jitsie now do trials specific ones. I also use poco downhill sking ones as well
