Sherco barrel and head trouble
Makes you wonder how they survive, pity you can't name them so others don't get caught

Beta evo 300 2014
If it's blown a lot of coolant out check the head gasket (maybe O Rings) also. Are you sure your fuel/ oil mixture was good and it hasn't nipped up as suggested. Was it being used hard just before it stopped,if it was idling it seems unlikely it seized upIf all the above checks out ok I'd suspect the stator

4rt steaming like a kettle
It can be either coolant escaping or piston blow by sending fumes out of the breather, you need to find out which. If the coolant level isn't dropping you know where to look next. Not sure what blocking the breathers will prove. Is it overheating, which it will if the head gaskets gone

4rt steaming like a kettle
Does the water level in the rad drop?

New to me 12' sherco. Not in love with the formula controls, options?
Think the way is to take the banjo bolt out and measure, also measure the master cylinder bore
-
2018 evo fuel cap
My Jotagas had that problem .I solved it cutting the thread deeper with a triangular file and reduced the overall diameter with a flat file.Shouldnt have to on a new bike though.

Does this sound right
Strip down time, definitely main bearings ,hopefully big end OK,hard to hear anything else

2013 Gasgas Pro - Spring Weights
If you push down on the seat front and rear should travel the same, you should be able to get it right with the adjusters

New to me 12' sherco. Not in love with the formula controls, options?
There's New and used AJP on E---y uk ,I'd start with the front brake calliper and master cylinder too.Not sure if the Formula brake hose fits,I'd then swap the rear calliper. If the clutch works OK but is just heavier than you like leave it.The latest Braktec is good ,you might find it easier to obtain locally?Theres no cheap way to sort it unfortunately but once it's done forget the cost and enjoy the bike

2013 Gasgas Pro - Spring Weights
Is it the standard shock?Wants to sag about 1/3 of its travel with you standing on it,it shouldn't be far out with your weight

New to me 12' sherco. Not in love with the formula controls, options?
Yes they did,but you can still get rebuild kits for the master cylinders. The Formula stuff was pitiful when new, don't waste your time with it.The latest Braktec products are good too,but expensive when new and the early stuff was poorly made .There are Trials bike breakers on E,,y,good luck

When to buy a new bike??
Less weight,better suspension,cleaner running engine with a bit more power,much better brakes,more grip,not had 17 years wear
- New Boots

When to buy a new bike??
Ask to try a few mates bikes at your next trial. All modern bikes are brilliant, there's a big difference between yours and a recent one.Dont think you need brand new,1/2 years old well maintained bikes that haven't had a hard time are out there

New to sport bike selection
Either brand 250,condition more important than age

Slow action throttle sherco
As long as they're both Domino throttles it's a straight swap,5minute job
-
2010-2015 Ossa TR information
Completely agree

Bike won't start.
It's not just flooded from all the attempts to start is it?Turn the fuel off, take the plug out and kick it over with the throttle fully open, does it spray fuel out?

Where are all the entries????
Low entry events lack the atmosphere of a larger event, also most observers are friends or family of the riders,so in a low entry event observers are hard to get. This leads to some sections being self scored and sometimes suspect winners. The honest riders get fed up with this and don't turn up ,so you get less riders. Seems to me there's too many small events, sometimes on the same day competing for the same pool of riders.I feel it would be better if the clubs affected could come up with a calendar to avoid this, maybe running bi monthly instead of asking the same few to organise it all every month

OSSA parts and Support
There's some people that like them but to safeguard yourself you'd need to offer a low price.Consumables are pretty much what other brands use,so no problem,Ossa specific parts more difficult.Of the few people I know that had one all were glad to see the back of it through unreliability,When they were right they were very good,if they'd survived and developed it further it probably would have been successful

Head spacer
Probably better to get the desired s3 head insert to lower the compression, more expensive though

Sherco 2017 300 heavy clutch pull
Does the AJP master cylinder have a different bore size,if it's smaller the clutch will be lighter but will bite closer to the bars.If it's the same bore you gain nothing other than a better made cylinder
-
Sherco 2017 300 heavy clutch pull
Since the pull got heavier with new plates,I would think the clutch pack thickness is too great.Sherco UK should be able to tell you what the thickness should be,doesn't need to be far out to make the clutch pull heavy

lanyard woes
Lanyard works by being open circuit until the wrist strap pulls the magnet off, then closed circuit. On a motor bike this shorts the ignition to earth so no spark. You need an Oset specific Lanyard

2015 Gas Gas Suspension set up.
You need the original weight spring to start with, set to about 10mm of free sag without the rider.Just set the damping somewhere in the middle and see how it feels,if it rebounds too quickly it won't grip as well. Both front and rear want to compress equally when you push down on the seat. The forks have damping adjustment one side and spring preload the other, doubt they've been revalved.Id start with the back end then adjust the front to suit
