Need advice
Do you have a friend with bike knowledge who could view it with you?Does it look like its properly maintained with no rounded off bolt heads. The motor will probably rattle from the clutch, which will stop with the lever pulled in.You need to test ride it to ensure everything works properly. It might have brakes made by Formula which were terrible and would need replacement which could get expensive. Could you post some photos of it ,also a video of it running so we can help you more?

Trs rr vs gasgas gp
6speed gearbox on Gasgas,5speed onTRS,buy whichever one you feel is the best for you,Raga had a hand in the development of both, there's not a lot of difference between them, both superb

Rev3 Engine Rebuild
Not sure the engine has seized,I'd have the clutch case off and also the clutch ,then see if the crank turns

The Beta Clutch Fix
About time Beta addressed this problem, diaphragm clutch like the other brands?

Irc tyres
Hi all, anybody tried the new 2017 IRC tubeless rear tyres?Do they hold air and stay on the rim OK?Are they still the best in the mud,or are they still best avoided. Thanks in advance

2018 Jotagas????
So would I,but don't feel confident with their lack of marketing and support, about which they don't seem to care

Beta Evo 300 2016 stolen from Frome, Somerset
Insurers generally want the bike stored in a brick built building, this poor guy has a metal shed, but insurance is the best answer if possible

Sherco engine noise?..
As above, won't be cheap, might work out better to sell it as spares/repairs and get something better and take a mate who knows about bikes

Beta Evo 300 2016 stolen from Frome, Somerset
Sounds too soon for the online supplier to be involved, hopefully he's kosher.Did you have a bike before this?and the scrotes were going to target you .Was it transported on a trailer and someone followed you?

Pirelli Mt43 Front Tyre ,any Good?
They'll be better than the old ones, but not as good as new Michelin,Irc or Dunlop

Beta Evo 300 2016 stolen from Frome, Somerset
Rough luck, seems suspicious that It went after only being there 10 days.Sadly theft is on the increase and there doesn't seem to be much help from the police. If you are in the position to offer £1000 ,no questions asked for its return in good complete condition it might come back if it's still local. Are there any places that the local scrotes ride ,could be worth a visit with some large friends if so.Hope it comes back

New bike advice
Can you scrounge a ride on various bikes at a local event?A 300 Gasgas with a fast action twistgrip and no flywheel weight would be too much, but with a weight and slow action grip might be fine.Beta 300 is probably the most novice friendly of the bigger bikes,Trs is getting more popular and is not fiery.300 Sherco is great in the right hands but not really aimed at novices.Really comes down to what you like, theyre all good

Clutch slip.
Wonder if it's got car synthetic oil in the gearbox, worth changing it if you don't know what's in there
-
Clutch slip.
According to my 315 manual, the clutch plates should be 2.65 minimum, and the springs 35.5 minimum, but what Dan says sounds very likely, seems strange that the clutch got that bad that quickly

94 Gas Gas jt25
Wouldn't recommend anything that old, unless it's silly cheap and you can't afford anything dearer It was a brilliant bike for its time, but that was 23 years back .Consumable parts won't be a problem, specific parts may be.,selling it on might not be easy.Spending 2k if you can afford it gets you something miles better which you can get your money back on if you don't take to the sport(but I bet you will)

Snapped handlebar bolt
I would replace The bolts with ones of a known good quality

Reiger vs Ohlins?
The Reiger with separate rebound and compression damping is superb, and better than the Ohlins with combined damping, but with the price difference it should be.I don't think the Reiger with combined damping adjustment is as good as the Ohlins which is a fairer comparison price wise? Ohlins definitely have the ability to make the best suspension available,as seen in MotoGP,Motoxgp and recently DownhillMTB,and Reiger are big in the Sidecar Motox world!so both companies know their stuff. Maybe the top spec Reiger is just too expensive now

290 too much for a beginner
If it's that clean and the price is right, buy it ,it won't be uncontrollable

Changing rear sprocket
9/48 is too low, bottom gear will be useless,I don't think you'll put the 48 back on again. You can grind away the top of the pin that you want to remove and push the link out

Trials Bicycle for training?? take your own conclusions VIDEO INcluded
The cycle riding skills definitely help as you learn to get up and over obstacles just with body weight and loading the rear tyre to get the lift ,it also helps with balance.Takes a while to learn the throttle control when you try a motor bike, which is probably one of the hardest skills to learn.I don't think it's a coincidence that the Spanish riders all spent time on cycles before motorcycles to become the worlds best

Can I run with piston slap?
If the bike is in good shape and you like it,get the cylinder replaced and a new piston. If it needs a load of work, such as clutch, suspension linkage and all the consumables it could get expensive
-
Can I run with piston slap?
Can you post a video so we can hear it?

scoring
The problem is observers have different views on how long,if at all, they will allow a stop,so the riders don't know where they stand.I accept that if you don't stop you won't get fived but a lot of sections can't be ridden non stop. Those that can trick ride well enjoy doing so and gain advantage over those that can't but risk a five through exercising a difficult skill.I feel we either revert to stop permitted or open the sections up and enforce the no stop rule, this middle ground is too vague
