    Gasgas

I have no time for Gas Gas, around 2007 I bought a 98 Txt 250, having had it only a short while it started making a bit of a rattle, I stripped it to find plating migrating from the barrel, I had it replated but could I get a piston? I called Gas Gas UK who really didn't care, even emailed the factory, nobody cared, nobody could tell me when they would be available, the old piston had to have a clean up and go back in, I then sold it, long term does Gas Gas have a trials future? their lack of financial stability plus my previous parts experience put them right out of contention when I bought my new bike 3 yrs back.
  2. Change the needle valve, check the float, confirm correct float height, seems to me it's probably leaking the contents of the fuel pipe into the manifold and reed cage as the bowl overflows, I had a horrific experience on my 300 Beta after transporting it back from a ride on my trailer, I forgot to turn off the fuel, when I started it after washing it it ran absolutely flat out, nothing would stop it not the lanyard or pulling the plug cap, I guess because of the speed it was dieseling and igniting fresh mix into the cylinder off the exhaust just leaving, it stopped after around 20 seconds or so and started up normally. Such fun! I literally soiled myself.
  3. On the brake testing scales today mine came in at 72 kg, it was carrying a horn and a GPS speedo and of course nearly a full tank.
  4. Try adding some octane booster to the fuel, if is detonation you are hearing this should sort it, you could also retard the ignition timing a little, maybe run an extra head gasket or two base gaskets?
  5. Just wash it, don't squirt too much around the seat grilles, the filter really doesn't get wet, a few drops at the most, I always inspect it after cleaning anyway.
  6. Or do you have a pressure washer it may have come off of?
  7. Had any repairs on your car recently? could it have dropped from your car?
  8. It looks a lot like a quick release clip such as one would find on a hydraulic hose that pushes into a hydraulic cylinder, I see similar on car clutch components etc, I can't think of anything on my Beta like that.
  9. Basic checks, compression, spark, fuel. You could have a wet wires issue, a component failure such as a fuel pump, You could remove the injector leave it plugged in, kick it and see if it squirts?
  10. You got heat expansion and contraction to contend with on basically a tube, for reliability get it machined and fit a liner.
  11. Designing a trials bike that needs a battery to start plus all the hassle of that just seems utterly mad to me.
  12. What do you find wrong with the as supplied shock?
  13. Clean out the carburettor jets. Make sure a good supply of fuel is reaching the carburettor.
  14. Single tone electrical horn of sufficient volume that can be operated easily from the normal riding position, that tester is an idiot.
  15. You could remove the wiring loom entirely and make your own loom to just run the ignition and a kill switch.
  16. Well you could ride that on an A2 licence, however at 32 years old you may as well do the full A licence, the tests are exactly the same, the training is exactly the same, the only difference being you need to be on a slightly bigger/powerful/weight bike for the A than the A2. Getting that licence is probably going to cost 500 to 600 quid.
  17. My Beta 300ss, insured with Hastings, fully comp, around 80 pounds last year.
  18. I'd sooner blow out a jet than pay out for an ecu or injector, or spend hours and hours troubleshooting a non start situation.
  19. Wow, sounds horrific, the dealer sounds horrific too, I suggest you contact the importer and TRS themselves.
  20. When i was looking at new bikes 3 years ago, I considered a Vertigo, what put me off was the complexity of the fueling system, do you really need this level of complexity on a machine that will get drowned, thrown at rocks, pressure washed and generally abused? Carbs are simple, reliable and easy to fix. Just my thoughts.
  21. I have a 300ss, even changed out the tube for a fast one, it's pretty docile and torquey but it will do the business if you wanna clutch it up steps.
  22. I ride a 300 evo, it is the SS model, much softer than the conventional evo, very torquey at low RPM and suits my style, I only ride the red route in a leisurely manner, not all 300 cc's will try and kill you.
  23. I feel all the bikes you mention are going to be just fine, buy something that's clean with a maintained chain (always a good indicator of care), good tyres, and clean gearbox oil.
  24. POR 15 by frosts, sealed many pinholed tanks on old farm engines with it.
