  1. the problem is the earth pin and the low tension pin in the cdi connector block , take apart bend out the tags in the pins ,clean with wd 40 ,remake connection making syure the pins are fully home. the two wires are blue /white and black. They are a touch on the short side and easily displace. kokusan unit failure is unheard of. I've helped severral people with the same thing this summer.
  2. From my limited experience you will need a bottom gear raio of 36 or 37 :1. To achieve this with 32 or 37a gearbox and a 20 tooth engine sprocket you will need 12 tooth gear box and 56 or 57 tooth rear sprockets. I have made up a scribbled chart showing many permutations of villiers gearings so you can get what you want. You can give me a ring and I'll send you a photo copy 01296712510
  3. Yes, thats my old mate Webby with Geoff in WCS workshops. Pete also paired up for the 100 mile scramble with Mick Andrews on that early fibreglass topped Ossa MX machine. I also prepared a special T&O 325 Bultaco for Geoff and WCS at about the time of the picture. What a sad loss for the sport that he died so young . I've since met up with his sons on occasions at YMCA trials they are a credit to such a lovely man.
  4. Well done to Stewart and co. for what we thought was a great trial which was slightly marred by the shortage of time. We felt that all was about normal apart from getting up behind the very slow Championship riders at the end of our second lap. This caused a back up of queues for the middle order riders on the expert route. The solution is to have a first lap time allowance as in the world rounds where riders in the support classes can use the top route boys as a clock and we don't need ever to try to pass them. We ended up having 35 mins to do the last lap with up to 6 riders waiting at each section and could do nothing despite not having wasted any time early on. Sam was at the back of the expert group and we think the queues must have subsided by the time he got into his last lap. Despite all this very well done to all at Bradford and also to Sam for a great ride and sewing up the Expert Championship for GGUK yet again.
  5. Acouple of people have told me about a much modified Seeley Honda on E Bay. I'm pretty sure its one I built for a guy called Pete Buckingham who was a pretty good motocrosser in the Southern Center and a good mate of Pete Webb of Windsor Comp Shop fame. I still have lots of photos of the project as PB came along every few weeks with his camera as I was doing it. Any photos of it as it is now?
  6. 100% The 5mm. screw in the center of the clutch has come undone and is jamming the lift petals. put it back with a bit of locktite making sure that the top hat washer is in place first. Do not over tightenas it has a breather hole through its center and also you may need to remove it some time in the future.
  7. 3-5 Turns out is about right for the Delorto. Have you checked the rubber flap? Have you got 9x48 sprockets? Nothing else is any good. If you have done everything else you have been told correctly the bike will be perfect. I made a typing error the screw is three and a half turs out.If you still are not happy ring me on 01296712510 tomorrow.
  8. Unfotunately the Wiggies have decided not to go to the Scottish round this year as it would put us behind in our preparations for Spa next weekend. Also there is a YMSA round a lot closer to home and feel we should also support them as from D class onwards their exellent events have been a great stepping stone to success. We wish "THE SCOTTIES" a great days sport and feel sure their event will be laid out to the usual high standard down by the Loch. Sorry we can't be with you. Yours in Sport-== Team Wiggy.
  9. Go to Gas Gas UK website you will find02 PRO check list. This will be a start but I'm sure Kev at GGUK did a pre Scottish set up sheet and a dealer set up sheet. To add a little to these ,its a good idea to flush out the tank and clean the tap filter and carb because there is sometimes flux residues in the tank. Also check there is no homologation restrictor in the air filter and that the tank breather is in the right way round.Last thing for me to add is to make certain that the rubber protection flap is under the tank not pushed above the rear of the tank blocking air flow to the intake. I punch an extra hole in it and cable tie it down to the engine stay.Mixture we run 50 :1 and oil our air filters properly, there is no championship to run as little oil as you can. Our bikes rev to the moon and after a years hard use, still have the machining marks on the piston!!! The PRO is a fantastic bike but must be looked after properly and I.m sure you will be as happy with it as we have been.
  10. Hi, You are right,as far as I am aware all GG Pro clutch casings are magnesium. I welded Alexz,s after Richmond national the other day. No problem at all using rods I got from Kent foundary some years ago. If you use even high mag alluminium rods you will get a result like Aero chocolate bar which will not take at all. Get pure magnesium or electron rods and anyone with a TIG set will do it easily. Electron is an early trade name for magesium reffered to in some early books, ie, electron crankcases on Norton,AJS,and JAP engines. On the day of the event I rammed a MARS bar into the gaping hole and finished the event with most of the oil still in the gearbox.
  11. Sorry to hear you have a noise coming from the headstock on your pro. Do you still have the speedo bracket fitted? If not you either need to fit a washer of similar dimensions in its place or turn away a little of the yoke so that it fits solidly on the bearing adjuster ring. If this is the case you will probably notice a black stain between the two parts that are working against each other. Most people dont notice this problem but it can cause looseness of the stearing head and result in an inertia that can cause the head pin to fail. Very important!!
  12. Dear Atomant, I'm afraid youve got it a bit wrong ,Alexz did not beat Graham jarvis at the Mitchell, although he would have won the Expert if youths were counted in the same class. Alexz is going well but still has a mountain to climb to get to the level of Grimbo and Steve. Championship route is a lot more severe and although we asked for Alexz to ride this course in all the Appleyard series as a guest rider for no award or points, the T&E committee turned down the request. Maybe they are right as you have to ride all types of section to be a complete rider and Alexz is full of zeal to prove them wrong. Trials is a gentle progression in confidence and a too big a jump in section choice could halt progress completely , and this is probably the opinion of both myself and some of the members of T&EC. While I'm on my single digit reply,a word about the bikes used by us in the USA. It was a bog standard 06 125 Gas GAs pro, brand new and put together by me. We altered the gearing to 9x48 fitted my own Keihin carb,Ohlins shock and R type cylinder head. The only other things were Renthals and our Green Hope top yolk for luck. The bike had little or no break in time and performed perfectly. Everything else including the clutch bog standard. What other bike could get such results? Obviously Alexz is having a purple patch in form at the moment but it just proves that trials is about 90% rider. The other thing is that after chatting to John Lampkin one day he suggested that we dont even discuss larger capacity bikes until they are in the ballpark for us. Alexz has only one tool in the toolbox its a 125 and its the magical GAS GAS PRO. Maybe we could have got it going even a little better re jetting for the American fuel but had very little time and we erred on the rich side because of the bikes newness. Yours in Sport.B&LW.
  13. I'm so old I can remeber the great John Avery (ex Moto Cross dr Nations Team Rider) riding this type of SS 90 in S.midland trials in the early 60's. Sorry to upset you all but it is more pre 65 than a MK 1 concentric carb.

    Chain Tensioner

I worked out this way for a GG,I'm sure something similar would work on Sherco etc. Slide a length of small diameter steel tube aprox 6mm. bore over the spring tail.(or can use a small old fashioned cranked ring spanner). Holding this in your left hand then hold the tensioner pad in your right hand, with spring installed on central bush. Then move your hands together, compressing the spring, hold in place over the threaded hole in the swingarm. Then get Alexz or whoever to run the mounting screw in with a "t" bar . May take a couple of goes but we usually manage it first time like this. Doing it this way the spring is not at all distressed or weakened by levering or leaving it unhooked and then cheating it on.
  15. Ive had a vw lwb Transporter t32 with 2 rows of seats for just over a year now and would reckon that its streets ahead of any other van. My business partner has a new type 115 Vito and we now call it the Transit!!!! The VW is very quick, economical and very quiet to travel in even with no extra sound proofing. It's another leap forward in the search for perfection. Had no problems with it apart from front interior door handles both breaking and I've lost a total of 5 hub caps in a year, they just fall off at random. VW admit to the door handle fault but wont admit to there being a problem with hubcaps though I've never caught them out of stock!!!! Apart from that there is nothing in the same league. It would be a bit better for bikes if the rear seats were a bit further forward as it has massive leg room in the back and it would be beneficial to have slightly more bikespace. I can see no easy way of re-positioning the rear seats. Dont hesitate if you've got the dosh it wont dissapoint.
  16. I think that the time limit yesterday was fine. 5 1/2 hours should be enough time to complete the course. Even though I had time penalties. With regards to the rules changing, I think that it is good that they have changed. People keep on saying that they want another british World champ (not saying that Dougie's had his day) but if people do want another one then we have to help the younger riders as much as possible. I enjoy riding to the stop rules but as long as the British Championship is on the same rules as the world championship then surely this can only help our cause.

    Gasgas

I thought that the reason for a bigger fuel tank was pretty obvious especially with a certain six day trial coming up. And with the fact that its plastic, i didnt know the sherco tanks were made of translucent metal. The standard gas gas pro tank is 2.8 litres, we are aiming for 3.4 - 3.5 litres. How are the 06 shercos going to cope in Scotland as they appear to have a small capacity fuel tank.
  18. I thought that last years event was fantastic. It was a brilliant end to a great season and a real highlight of the year. It was a great social event because everyone could have a chat afterwards and relax now that all the really important events had finished. It was nice for the younger kids as well to see the top lads ride as they dont often get the chance at British Championship events. I thought that Alan and his team did a mega job of the indoor. It was like a mini sheffield. I went there on the friday night and the arena was bare. Got there on Saturday night and it was filled with MEGA sections. It looked superb. I thought the sections were pitched at just about the right level. They were all cleanable in my opinion but they were so easy to five! They were all hard sections which is what we want and if you had a mega ride then a clean was definately capable. they looked spectacular but they weren't dangerous. I really enjoyed the event as `us youths` rarely get the oppertunity to ride in these conditions and events like this can only help the riders in their expeience of pressure. A BIG WELL DONE ON A FANTASTIC EVENT an i hope to see it in this years calender.
  19. I made a trailer like thi a couple of years ago after seeing one that is marketed in France. Gas Gas factory also have one built from round tubing like this. Mine takes 3 modern bikes and is made from box section with the top folded in one piece of chequer plate to form a box with a lid to the rear. The rear lights are built in with small nylon rear bumpers so you don't damage them when you stand it on end. I'm not sure whether the lights are far enough back by law but they always work and I've never been pulled up with it. Can't thing how many of those cheapo lighting boards I've bought in the past. Only real problem I ccan see is someone running into the back of the bikes, but would a conventional trailer save them much. I'll try to post a photo You are very wellcome to measure it up and copy it if you like.I could have sold it many times as many people have the same problem. I also offered it to Cliponoffs brother for them to copy but I've heard no more. PS I live in Bucks.
  20. I had a total left hip replacement 16 years ago and it's been a total successbut not everybody has been as lucky as me,I've also heard some horror stories. I'm glad Alexz has got to the stage where I don't have to run round 3 laps of a 15 section national though. If you need to have a chat you can ring me on 01296712510. I also know KM of Oxford has had both done and still performs very well, but still can't play the piano!!!!
  21. Well done to Nene Valley for a great event, sections pitched at absolutely the right level for the top few. Next year this event obviously needs two routes to keep this prestigious trial alive because the number of riders who can cope at this standard is very few. It is not viable to lay on a trial for so few riders and dual sections would swell the entry and keep everybody happy. Quite a few riders were winging about the severity, but if a 16 yr old on a 125 can do a lap for 4 marks lost ,can it have been far wrong? Alexz and the boys really enjoyed the day.
  22. The only way to get the bars in exactly the same position is to use Raga clamps ,that is why they made them hinge type!!!!!
  23. Hi Lloyd, Just like to add a couple of other seemingly obvious things that people get wrong. 1 Check the tank breather is fitted the right way round i.e. letting air into the tank and working ok. " Check the rubber flap is fitted UNDER the tank, not obstructing the airbox apperture. 3 Some later model bikes have a homologation restrictor in the mouth of the airbox, remove it but leave the clear filter roof in place.4 Clean the tank out properly a few times and clean the tap and filter.5 If you have a late model bike with the switchable ignition and no switch fitted simply plug the two wires together that come out of the cdi. (orange and black). The switch in sunshine ( racing ) mode effectively does this for you. Get GASSING!!
  24. Peter Purves told me at the terrible Men & Motors gig at Preston that he thought Nick Britain still owned the Kickstart name and idea. He also would like to do it again with the old foremat but was very unhappy about the M&M product.
  25. As far as I know the only place to buy mag welding rods is Kent Foundaries,I bought a packet about 15 yrs. ago. They cost then
