scoring
Trouble is it is all subjective. How many fives were given for bikes going backwards an inch when stop allowed was in? how many 1's were given for a split second stop in stop for a 1? When a bike sumps out momentarily and the rider carries in feet up or the rider hits a big step and then balances on the back wheel monetarily at the top feet up is that a five? if you hop and mess about then it is. If the section can't be ridden no stop then c of c is at fault. We all want to see good rides on challenging section not a series of fives fior a milli second stop on a flat turn. life unfortunately is a compromise .

Trials Rules ??? Possible bending of rules
Only exceptions I can see are All of a class do it - ie electric bikes young riders and is stated at the start of the trial by the C of C/organisers. A beginner who is allowed to do it but no award - again agreed by C of C A rider who is last to come through and is a lap down - to allow observers to pack up - again in reality they are far enough off the pace to be no award. A bunch of experts hanging back to ride a stream twice after everybody else would not be permitted. Anybody deliberately doing it to avoid queues or gain and advantage should be deemed no award

4 Ride front calliper breaking
Strange - they appear to have failed in different places.. The mounting hole on the top picture looks a little fretted as may be a bolt loose but bottom looks to be just split.

4 Ride front calliper breaking
Possibly could be a potential recall - safety critical part etc. Bought out component so maybe not as rigorously tested as a genuine Montesa/Honda part ??

Montesa 260 4RT or Beta 300 factory. What to buy same price.
4rt = fuel injection and Honda build quality. Other than that I think you need to try each as some suit one and not the other . Honda are offering 0% at the moment in U.K. ?

2018 new model info??

scoring
Bit offensive - what's your point. We set out out btc with flowing sections and observers and riders are briefed to try and get consistency. We try and tell that it's the sections that take the marks so no need to be overzealous on the moment stop. If riders take the micky then they deserve a five lots of people put lots of hours in unpaid - all we can do is our best.

Where are all the entries????
I think you would struggle to find section that would allow such a varied ability level without compromising either the top level or the lower levels. How many riders would you have competing at any one time - with all those classes would be up 100 riders - I think queuing would be an issue over 3 laps. Good youth A can compete in full BTC as can good females. Double headers are good for travel but means club officials have to commit to 2 days observing etc. Maybe have 2 rounds close by - to reduce travel cost .

Where are all the entries????
Entry wise? Organisation or section severity?

After market front wheel
First Question is why? What are you hoping to achieve or is it just something you want to do? Your wallet could be lots of pounds lighter and that's all.

Honda 2 stroke comeback
Honda are going to develop 1cylinder of the hybrid McLaren/ Honda F1 engine as evidently the soft lower power output will be spot on for trials. Watch out for the Spanish dream team of fernando alonso and Toni bou!!

To much petrol
Fuel pump or filter.. how old is bike.? check previous posts on cleaning filter - the small sock one on end of filter.
-
To much petrol
Does it start again after o few mins stopped? When it starts playing up does it die on full throttle but ok on tick over- then gradualllg get worse when you appply the throttle?
-
To much petrol
sounds like fuel pump or blocked fuel filter sock filter. check posts on fuel pump fixes

Knocking front wheel
If floating disc then try some silicon on the top hat spacers to take out some play. Check non of the disc bolts have come loose catching the fork/caliper as tyre goes round. as other say -check wheel bearings and head bearing etc

4RT Gasket Problem

Trial GP - UK Round 2018
On a not so high high profile note I noticed when observing dougie at the st davids British champ many years ago that he lost his marks on the slippery cambers not the big stuff. As c of c for the last few years of the st davids btc we have put some big stuff in for the crowds but we know the marks will be taken in the loose streams and mud that don't look mutch and the riders dislike but takes marks without killing people. Not fashionable but proper sections. Have faith and put on s proper British wtc I say.

Type approval
Steering needed first on our neddy. He can stop and go no problem just not necessarily in the direction or speed you had in mind? On a serious note we are slipping very quickly into a total nanny state. If you want safety devices surely market forces should alllow you to buy what you want!! .

New 4rt 260 what oil ?
There are numerous posts on this if you have a search but consensus is as above for engine or similar and the elf htx oil or atf for gearbox . typically every 6 weeks. Change engine oil filter every other oil change .

clutch bleeding
I find if you don't do the full stroke with the lever and look into the reservoir you can see air coming out of the piston cylinder inlet hole. If you do that a few times resistance may come back as the cylinder is full of oil not air. If you do full strokes with air in in just goes down the pipe. I have changed a hose at a trial and managed to bleed with this method. You could try sucking on the end of the pipe attached to bleed nipple but make sure pipe is a clear one and long enough or you chips will be tasting of DOT 4 tonight!! Maybe set your lever as horizontal as possible to get as much fluid in the reservoir to cover the hole.

Why don't they JUST grip?
I found early on with the 4rt to never shut the throttle fully - with the engine braking especially on the early bikes the front would get loaded up and then do its own thing. I found this out on a flat slippery stream were the 4rt was going all directions and my old 315R would never have - being basically y the same chassis had to be engine related. If you apply this theory to going across cambers etc - if you shut off fully then front has a higher chance of sliding compared to a 2T

Why don't they JUST grip?
Jr sunt has it spot on. Ride it on the over run and when it does grip make good use of it to get your speed so you have some in reserve to be able to back it if on the over run. If you watch slow mos of bou he is shutting off before he does anything - if what bou does is relevant to us mere humans. I have found that with the clutch out you can be quiet brutal with the throttle when you have grip in a straight line. Again use this to build up some grip credits for when you need to back off. I also found for deep mud 3 rd gear high ish revs but steady. Let the clutch slip but not burn the tyre. When you get a bit of momentum go throttle and clutch out then if needed let it grip on the over run. Jr's explanation explains why lower gears work on the monts.
