  1. Nope...starting to get bored of the Aprilia now too!!...although, in a strange way I think its helping my riding. So...let me know if you wanna sell yours!!
  2. What did you get peed off with Barry???..back bleeding is SO easy...if you want, I;ll do yours next time I see you at Kilkenny...trust me..it'll take about 2 mins! I used to do my Betas about every couple of months like that. Kept the brakes real nice
  3. I bet you guys are still bleeding the traditional way??? If you reverse bleed it, (inject the brake fluid in with a syringe from the calliper)...it will take about 1 min. and it will be fine. Always works really well for me.
  4. Bloomin ek...yours felt strong enough already Heath last time I rode it mmm..maybe I better rephrase that
  5. Its true..just get it set up right...my 02 carb never leaked right from day one. Keep an eye on the "silent-block"..(thats what they're called)...rubber mounting thing that holds the mid-exhaust to the bike. These have a habit of breaking, but only cost a couple of quid, so keep a few in yer bum bag. Many people just bodge it with something else and it aint worth it. Otherwise I reckon the 02 is fantastic..loved mine, and liked it much more than the 03 that I owned after it. Have fun...and keep checking out this forum, the Beta guys here leave loads of good info...especially r2w.
  6. Your lucky if it didnt pull the thread out of the frame with it. I used to check those bolts on EVERY ride on my REv3, cause one came out once and pulled the thread with it...NOT nice!! good luck finding your nuts..sorry..bolts
  7. Well..at least it wont be such hard work to pull the bike out of the stream now!!!...I guess they were a bit heavier 30 years ago!..ENJOY!
  8. In my old 02 Beta I always used Repsol oils which I think are pretty easy to find..and they worked great..both the 2t and the gearbox oil. bvm sell them and will post them. Sorry if this doesnt really answer your question.
  9. I thought they were easy to find...sure I've seen them on many websites..inc. bvm-moto.co.uk I THINK??
  10. Dont know if he goes on this website, but theres a guy in Hereford..sometimes rides Wye Valley trials I think, that has an beautifull example of this bike. If your lucky, maybe he'll see this post and reply... PS...I'm very jealous!!!
  11. Mmmm..Luckily I have a machine to do it now, but to be honest, I've always found them fairly easy.. Just used to put the wheel up on a kerb (or similar) and keep standing on the edge of the tyre..never took more than a couple of minutes to do.. It helps though if you make sure ALL the air is out of the tyre..ie, take the valve out.

    Clutch Noise

Not that I want to be kicked out of the r2w clan or anything, but for anyone from hotter climates (just about everywhere!!!)..atf, (in my experience) MIGHT not work as well as it does seem to for people here). I tried it a few times when I was living/riding in Hong Kong, and it didnt seem to work very well. BUT...dasher you're in Manchester...so I guess its not too hot up there plus...I might just be talking out my.......... again!
  13. Check regularly the rear bash plate bolts. If they work themselves loose, they pull the thread out with themselves.(the bash plate is under alot of pressure...so they ping out)...IF they work loose..they might if you're bashing into rocks alot etc. Silent block (rubber mounting thingy) that holds the middle exhaust tends to break alot..specially on early Betas, where they dont have the extra support at the front of middle exhaust. I allways rode without flywheel weight both in UK and abroad, and MUCH prefer it...guess its just a personal thing.

    2007 Beta

mmmm...nice to read all these sensible comments rather than people just airing their preferences over 2 or 4 stroke. Personally I agree...would be great to leave the Rev as it is...BUT..with a fancy bit of fuel injection....COOL!!! Well...I'm certainly not smart enough to make guesses, so I guess I'll just wait and see..probably wont be long eh!

    2007 Beta

Correct me if Im wrong, but I THINK it still isnt DEFINATE that they will NEED to go to a four stroke?? I thought the jury was still deciding on that ruling??
  16. If you can find some old stock of Sidis, the older ones had a tougher upper material...I dont mean THAT old,,,just I think about 2 years ago they went to a softer material. Poor old bikespace...maybe your feet are just too big, getting in the way all the time like that
  17. But what year did you get that round in Big John?? (sorry...couldnt resist)

    New 2stroke

Mmm...does sound interesting...even though Ive never been a Montesa fan, those 315 engines were pretty good if you ask me!
  19. WISH..Id been there..was a bit too far for me, but next year I;ll definately make the effort. Everyone I know whos done it always raves about it. Any results yet??
  20. good is an understatement eh!!...go wiggy!!
  21. I would echo Monty pythons advice..but would just also say that in my humble opinion, the newer the bike the better, in which case I would go for the Beta....but if you can have a ride on both, you'll know after riding them which one feels better for YOU
  22. Thanks for that Carl...its very interesting to hear your experience with that...its something I want to try myself sometime in the future...money permitting.
  23. yeah...come on, lets have that pic of Gaz on here..(preferably AFTER someone has altered it!!!)
  24. mmmmm...now thats good service..and impressive, to have a reply from Sandifords as quick as that....good on ya!
  25. yeah..thanks for that..would be interesting to here any other comments also
