  1. Conventional / perceived wisdom of the day, not necessarily accurate.
  2. 83 frame, footrest as you say back and down. Brake pedal moved to allow swinging arm to drop for longer shocks. Paioli forks. Handlebars 6", just a funny angle.
  3. Hi Hamish, good speaking to you. What are the requirements for Ventoux, road registered, lights, brake lights. Pre 65, twin shock ? Enjoy the weekend. Ross

    Are Betors Better.

Get a pair of Piaoli's, still 35mm and better than betor or marzocci, in my opinion. See your entered in the Pre80 next weekend, would you still be able to do that ?

Not legal then in most trials as far as I'm aware. 38mm are only allowed if originally fitted, otherwise 35mm.

Machining what, thought they were a straight swap ? You also need the mudguard brace, a new mudguard, and possible brake tie. Check the length, as Patrik pointed out, betors vary. Having said all that, I would also consider the various inserts you can get from HFS suspension etc.
  7. Check colour of failed plug, over rich mixture will kill a plug very quickly.
  8. If all was as standard it's not difficult to sort out. Rear, put axle in from brake side, then spacer with flat cut into it (so it can go all way forward and not foul brake anchor slot) through brake plate, hub, then top hat spacer which sits against bearing, then long alloy spacer, through swinging arm again. Front only has one spacer from memory.
  9. Where were you when billyt was wittering on about his 4rt ?

  11. You should change the crankshaft pinion http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=85_182_257&products_id=689 Re gearing, are you running 520 or 428 ? Personally I wouldn't worry to much about the chain touching the swinging arm, it will wear a couple of small grooves and stop.
  12. Interesting, running rear shocks really soft so think might have been through "sweet spot" anyway. Easy to change back if it seems a negative move. Also be interested to see what it does to the steering, equivalent to 0.5 to 1 degree pulled in approx.
  13. Thanks for the info as coincidentally, I have just had extensions made for rockshocks. Now making them 380mm, but as you say with a 50lbs spring there is a good 45 - 50mm sag. Easy to revert to original lengthy if necessary.
  14. Without being rude, does anybody actually care ?

    Reliability

How many trials do their bikes actually do ? Gary Mac seems to change his every few months.
  16. Why do you ask the question ?
  17. Does anybody take scores in "self observed" trials seriously ?

  20. Don't even need a tube !
  21. Clutch lightening system only much later, yours should be straight to cover. Gearing as per pschrauber, (Patrik) Oil1.2 l but you can also try 5/30. Silencer, cut a plate out back of 1st box and repack around cleaned perforated tube.
  22. So, what's moving the tube, but not the tyre ?
