Guys, Need your opinion. I still have time to specify what happens to my "new" cylinder from my TY 250A. It won't get to Millenium Technologies for another few days. And originally I was going to have it Nikasil plated, But now I am wondering if that is still a good idea? It will get a new Wossener piston too unless there is some reason not to?? The TY 250 barrel has a cast iron liner. But the cylinder is still the old air cooled type. There will be more heat expansion on this setup than would be the case with a water cooled cylinder, and it's a 2 stroke of course, but what are the advantages of a Nikasil lining for this application? I am still having trouble with my kick start locking and not returning. Should the kick start shaft (and kick start lever) be able to move in and out by approx 1/2 inch. When the kick start does not return I need to tap it with my boot and knock it back into the cranck case a bit then it returns. Is this usual or am I missing a spacer?

Here are the before and after pictures of my TY175 It is now a TY200 Before And the after It's took almost year and lots of new and rebuilt parts. But I'm glad I did, it's a great bike to ride.

In the process of converting my TY175 from autolube to premix I have had differing advice on pre mix ratio. Suggestions ranging from 40:1 to 70:1. It will be used in twin shock trials so mostly slow speed work in 1st and 2nd gear. I will run it on a synthetic oil (Castrol TT). I would like to know what ratio others have used and for how long? I'd like to avoid it blowing up but also would like to avoid it oiling up. Any advice/opinion/debate etc. greatly appreciated. Cheers.

hi there yam fans i have just purchased a ty250 twinshock , and i thought it was a standard ty but on checking the frame numbers i have been told it is a john shirt model but the tank is just like a standard ty am i right in thinking that some majesty's had a standard tank? . most ones i have seen have the coffin shaped type any help would be appreciated . thanks ZARKOFF.

hello, just bought a second hand Yamaha TYZ250 (1998 version) and after having a 'play' for a couple of hours yesterday I have noticed some things... being my first trials bike I am not sure if this is 'normal' Firstly, from cold the clutch doesn't work fully disengaging (sp?) the drive, and so the bike 'creeps'. This only happens for a few hundred meters maybe, until things have warmed up. It then behaves faultlesslty (AFAIK). Is this normal? Would an oil change help things? (I haven't done anything to it yet because I only just bought it sat and was dying for a play on it ) Also I noticed the cooling fan came on quite quickly, is extended use OK? - I am fright…

I,m thinking about buying the foot pegs for my TY250A from sammy miller products.Do they make a noticeable difference in foot position and handling?

I just sold my 74 TY 250 to a friend because I was tired of always having to clean the points and stator to get the coil to produce a spark, but I did buy a either 85 or 86 TY 350 from my dad. It has gold rims, new tires, new rear fender, etc. Is there a VIN decoder that I can use to figure out which year it is? It runs good but I have to mod a FMF silencer onto the exhaust pipe. The head pipe has a hairline crack in it in the chamber area and I was wondering if I could mig weld it carefully? The headpipe looks like an aftermarket one because it definitely doesn't look like the stock pipe I've seen in photos on the web. Also, the bike didn't come with a headlight assemb…

What is the difference between the original Majestys and the new ones you can buy now? As I understand it the new ones are built using NOS frames from John Shirt and most other bits are TY. Did the original ones have the fibreglass tank or were they alloy?

Theres a Ty175 for sale on Ebay and the guy reckons its a Majesty. I cant remember myself but I thought there was only two.. the mini Majesty with the straight down tubes and then the one with the bent down tubes which I thought was the original Majesty, anyway the guy selling this one thinks its an original...anyone know any better..have a look... hi, I know this has been discussed before, but, I can't seem to find any info. Has anyone got any ideas or managed to convert a mono into a usable twinshock? I know it's not eligable for anything, but I don't what to do with it. It's not worth anything and I can't see it would any different from from the current crop of late twinshock's around at the moment.

has anyone tried a bigger carb on their 175 ? I have just finished rebuild of engine for my Majesty, it's now 185 cc with electronic ignition a DT head and gasket for more compression plus ports have been cleaned up and matched to liner etc, also has boyesen reeds, I am also going to skim flywheel a little to make it pick up a little quicker, thing is the standard carb is a tiny 22mm and I think it must be undersized with the mods that have been done, has anyone fitted a bigger carb ? I was going to go to 24mm and stick to a mikuni of similar spec to the original, is this worthwhile and would it be considered legal and fair for twinshock trials ? as usual any opinions/ide…

2 Questions: How far can you safely bore a TY175 (beyong 68mm) without resleeving? Does anybody know what size bore the Majesty website 200 kit uses?

Hi, im looking for some info about a ty80 whitehawk (mk1) i bought one and i want to restore it. ( bought it in parts) there is almost nothing to find on the net about it so if any one has atleast a picture of it or a brochure or anything else, i would be very happy. cheers Derk

Hi all. My sons TY80 started 1st/2nd kick several times prior to this problem, from hot and cold even having stood in my mates garage for a month prior to Xmas. It got dropped repeatedly on Xmas Day (first day on a bike ever) and finally ran out of fuel. My daughter flooded it in an attempt to get it started and it ended up parked over-night in the shed. When I bumped it, it tried to go and then failed after a weak splutter. The carb was flooding. Its now got new Main Jet, Float Needle Assy, Carb Gasket, Pilot Jet, Carb Spring and the carb has been cleaned out and blown through very carefully. It now appears to have no spark, although it did before I renewed the carb …

I everybody I hope the holiday season as been good and I hope the bad wheater is behind you ( I also hope our Australian friend are in a better situation then they show us on tv ). Here are the questions. What's the deal with the spacer some guys install between the carb and the reed valve block, is it ok to install one with steel reeds or only with Boyesen reed. What' the tickness of the spacer, any info would be welcome. Guy

hi i own a Yamaha Ty80, my bike has sat in the garage for 4 to 5 years with no use what so ever as i grown up and got bigger bikes, but its a shame for it to sit there so therefore i am currently restoring it. Im only 16 so i have limited knowledge on these bikes but when i stripped the bike took carb of petrol tank and so on there was a form of green moss in and around the tank so i cleared it out etc cleaning progress. the carb was terrible and ive never seen one as dirty as this. i cleaned the carb very well and unblocked all passages i.e fuel pipes etc. the bike is now looking well and the spark is very good. the problem is that when i kick the bike it feels like it h…

Does anybody know if genuine Yamaha pistons are still available for a twinshock TY250?. I've got hold of a 'pattern' piston from a UK Yam spares dealer and it's been nothing but trouble .........any help would be appreciated.
