I am struggling with gear selection and wonder if the "spidery washer on the cam assembly is in the correct position. Also is there a setting for the selector arms? (second pic) Ignore lack of circlips as just put on for pic.

A little while back I put new rings in my TLR200 and now she has better compression and more grunt. However my impression is that the engine is running hotter - i have no real way to measure it , it just feels hot. The plug is browny grey and clean. I also notice that the engine idles higher as it warms up and it is harder to start ie: takes more kicks. It stalls easily when cold and tends to kick back much more often than it ever used to. Any suggestions welcome

Can someone explain to me if there's such a thing as a recognised British twin shock championship? I've heard of the normandale rounds and the Sammy miller series. What's the difference in the two series regards in severity, roadwork etc?

Hello all, I recently bought a 250 Armstrong and I'm looking at replacing the carburettor. I know I could buy a new Amal MK2 for a standard replacement but was thinking of upgrading to something newer. I tried the Dellorto from my Gas Gas for size but the choke mechanism fouls the frame plus mounting is different diameter. I also tried a Dellorto from a Beta Zero and whilst the fitting is ok the carb is set up for RH so no good. I am therefore thinking of an OKO, (can't afford a Keihn) I saw a picture of an OKO on Woody's Armstrong plus another member was thinking of trying one on his 250cc (Bossitt??) What size would suit the 250 best? 28mm or 26mm. Any feedback on how…

I've just followed a link on this twinshock forum from Woody ( thank you Sir) and ended up looking at a photo of a lean, mean looking Armstrong 320, I know nothing... ....about this type of bike, where did they come from, where did they go, how come we're not all riding the 21st Century version? Answers about Armstrongs please post here: Answers about my ignorance please post on the back of a £10 note to my home address Wayne

Could anyone identify the type of shocks from the picture for me. I can't find any stamps on them. Do you think they are of the repairable type or is this just not economical to do? They are fitted to my Italjet t350(later model see Italjet forum) I could do with some advice about renewing. The bike is around the 90kg mark and I am a slim 16 stone what spring rate would you advise? (I'll get the one in about lorry springs here first!!!!) Any particular make that people favour?. At the moment they are 340mm is there any advantage with putting slightly longer ones on the bike. I would like more travel in the shocks than what i have at the moment. Any sensible advice w…

Hi - my 247 was a bit reluctant to start on the weekend so I replaced the plug and away we went. However whenever I stopped to open a gate etc it died, which is not normal then after about 20 minutes riding I left it switched off while I explored some new tracks by foot. When I returned no sign of spark and a long push home. I have removed flywheel, cleaned and checked everything but very very week spark. I removed kill switch and condensor from earth and measured voltage from the stator coil but it is less than .5 volts. Can anyone tell me what the output from the stator coil should read - alternatively how many ohms in a healthy coil. Cheers Andrew

Hi All I have two Cota 123's and a Cota 172 which will form the basis of two finished bikes. One 123 and the 172 frame have broken at the front downtube at some stage (and been badly repaired). Were the frames known to be weak and if so, does anyone know a strengthening fix for them? Thanks in advance David

Hi there I'm rebuilding a sprite with sachs engine. On the underside there are two drain plugs, one with a normal bolt head, and one a different shape. Removing the 'normal' bolt to drop the gearbox oil, and there was around 150 ml of what looks like ATF that came out (looked very clean !) Quantity seems a bit small, and unsure of the other bolt on the underside of the engine. Any advice or help !?? Cheers John

Hi, I'm having a right game with my reed valve motor, replaced cdi, source coil and pick up, still rides then stops after a while. No spark. Think stator?? How much to get done at West Country Winding? Looked at a total new system from Electrex, in Oxford, not cheap though!

Hi. I have a 76 TL125 that came with new 360mm Betor gas shocks. I think the springs may be the 50lbs ones and am wondering if I can source the lighter ones somewhere. With the pre load on the lightest setting and all the Gas released they still feel stiff. I'm about 80kg in gear. Is there any way to tell which springs they are and does someone in the UK sell just the springs? Cheers
