Trials Transport

I have a trailer which was made from mini running gear utilising the back axle of a mini. The old mini wheels really need replacing but are expensive nowadays , does anyone know of any other wheels that have the same stud centres as the mini which I could use instead?, I am replacing the mudguards too as they are knackered so could be a bigger wheel if needed. Can anyone tell me how they find trailers as oppossed to using vans or racks to cart around a trials bike. I was looking at a van but am now wondering if a trailer would be a cheaper option though i would like to know how secure they are and how easy they are to tie down. Also i dont like the look of my new trials bike all exposed to the eliments and possible catastrophies of other drivers hitting it but perhaps i am being a bit fairy about it all. The cost of a trailer against a van is cheaper but, being short and low it looks a bit difficult to reverse etc should i have to. Any feedback would be appreciated. Anyone towed a bike in a trailer? Iv got an 8'x5' trailer dont really want to tow with the bike laying down so will convert so it can stand up. Any one else done this? C

Hi Just bought a 2003 sherco 250....... long story but basically never drink and ebay. I know nothing about trails, me and a mate are going to get the bike on saturday. Just wanted to know how to strap in down on a standard type trailer. And it their is any way to make a normal trailer better to transport trails bikes? cheers Andy

When we went to our last fun ride up at charltons our tyre popped just before we got there. We realised that because fo the way the bikes are places on the trailor ( 2 pointing forwards, one pointing back in the middle) the gear leaver of the left hand bike was catching on the tyre and guess what..tyre popped on the way back aswell!

Does a trials bike fit in a transit connect? (standard size) Will it go in straight or does it have to be at an angle? Thanks.

Simple one really and probly covered before hand. will a gasgas pro fit in a transit connect, not the high roof but standard roof height? anyone got one and can measure it? cheers guys

Can somebody post here some pictures of a LWB high roof Transit connect with two bikes in it? I am looking at an LT or sprinter but the connect seams an alternative. Will 2 bikes fit? What space is left.....a third partly dismantled??? Thanks lee

Looking at buying one in the near future, seem the right size for the trials bike and there pretty cheap.....55 plate vans going for just over 4k. Any problems to look out for, engine's, gearbox's etc etc??. Cheers Mark

Hi I'm about to buy my 1st ever trials bike (sherco 290. 02 I think) will be picking it up with my works Transit, its a crew cab type but without the rear seats. And I'm wondering if it would fit in there rather than on the back, making it more secure and away from prying eyes. looking forward to riding up at poleswood soon sean

Does anyone know whether the new Transit Custom DCIV ( double cab in van) LWB will take 2 trials bikes? I know the standard custom will but I need to the 5 seats. Any other general feedback, issues to be aware of? Thanks hughesy

Was about to get my Transit tested at the MOT Garage, and he said it would fail on chassis rust within 12 inches of a structural part... And he knocked a hole in it, to prove his point.. I have had some body panels done before, but can you get the chassis parts as well.? They are a complex shape, so don't want to start making them out of sheet steel, .

Thinking of buying a Mitsubishi L200 double cab - does anyone else own one and if so, can you fit a trials bike in the back without the tail gate being open? What about a Nissan Navara? Cheers

Hello! Does anyone know of any way to transport a bike around without a tow bar? I've got a VW Scirocco and the Mrs has a T-Roc, but she has to get it serviced at a VW garage and they've just quoted silly money to get a tow bar fitted. It would be cheaper for me to just buy a used van but I don't have anywhere to store it. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Is there a potential boot rack system that could carry the weight or any other mods? Cheers, Ollie

Found a great product that helps secure a trials bike while bouncing around in a trailer to get to the ‘trials ground’. As we know the trials mudguard is very close to the tyre where my KTM EXCF 500 has a reversed shock mount I can use a spacer. Tried a few different ways, tie downs from the handlebars- front shockies triple clamp etc but the Tyrefix Ace Bikes system works a treat as it slides under the front mudguard, simple and easy. My company car is up for renewal, I have a nice comfortable Passat saloon with toys and DSG gearbox. I towed a trailer initially but I have been using a rack on the back of the car of late which is far more convenient, the bike rack is fine and travels well but I am never completely comfortable with the bike on the back of the car. I have been wondering lately whether to buy my own vehicle instead of getting a company one and purchase a car where I can carry the bike inside. Im looking at getting a bike from yorkshire somewhere but I no longer have a van, just a saxo hatchback. I was wondering if with the passanger seat and back seats completely out, would a bike fit in with the front wheel off? Theres no way I can pick one up.getting one from a shop delievered to me up here in cumbria bumps up the price too much as the bikes are a little more to start with from traders..so I was looking at going myself to buy private not knowking anything about the bikes really....so risky........ suggestions please
